Celebrities Reveal All for HIV/Aids – Check Out Karen Igho, Dipp, Eva, Dayo Ephraim, Capital Femi, Kel, Denrele & More in the Campaign Shoot

Move over PETA, the Get Naked Campaign has got more celebrities stripping for a good cause – well not for animals but for HIV/Aids.

On Thursday 29th November 2012, Nigerian TV personality and blogger, Sheifunmi hosted some of Nigeria’s top entertainers at the Bheerhugz Cafe, Ikeja, Lagos for a HIV/Aids celebrity photo campaign themed “Get Naked”.

Among the stars who were in attendance include Karen Igho, Dammy Krane, Eva Alordiah, Yemi Alade, Kel, Dayo Ephraim and Capital Femi, as well as Dipp, Sammy, Mtrill, Pelli, Slim T, VON, Temisan and Blue Ice, who performed their songs.

Shot by celebrity photographer, Shola Animashaun, our stars get candid about how they stand about HIV/Aids – staying safe.

Well ladies, you wouldn’t get to see D’banj or Lynxxx strip down for this campaign, which according to a source will also be displayed in the print media, but Dipp and Capital Femi are sure to be your eye candy of the day.

Check it Out!

Here are arrival photos for the event at BheerHugz Cafe

which brings me to the question…. are guys required to shave their ‘pits? I grew up in Nigeria with the notion that it is a requirement. Among other things, for reasons of good. But since I started leaving in obodo America, I notice almost every dude has some ‘pits hair -at varying levels of growth. This includes celebrities and athletes. Every oyinbo person I have asked -black and white inclusive- says guys are not supposed to shave their pits. I get quite surprised bt it really seems to be the norm here. Thank God though, my Nigerian boyfriend does shave his pits. But I ask….are guys required to shave their pits?

Good,we need to create more awareness about this HIV/AIDS,not about going naked alone.
So this Dayo didnt know he was supposed to shave his armpit b4 coming to display…As fine as u look, Nothing sexy about seeing ur taco meat armpit..mschew
Good thing Karen didnt go show much, with that bleached body.

    ha ha ha ha !!!!
image composition is so not! here’s hoping PS will put it in the right zone.

we’re black (and proud! yeah) so when u’re using face-paint or whatever, let it be a shade that can stand out. i’m pretty sure there must be a red-based ink that will do a better job… and i’m sure whatever UN-ish AIDS/HIV movement/group sponsoring this ‘shoot will not be offended if we stenciled the logo (which is the important image) in white or yellow!

and who is the Ego-look alike in #11? that bit of skin is more likely to put some IT/NYSC/secretary person in trouble today than drive the message home that we need to play safe – if we must play, or just stick to the one we got back home… assuming it can still compete in appeal with that lushness on display. c’mon!

    and really, #18 shud’a taken a cue from #19.

Actually, the Red Ribbon is the symbol of the fight against HIV/AIDs, just like the Pink Ribbon is the symbol of the fight against Breast Cancer. So green or yellow would not cut it. Perhaps they should have used a shade of red that would stand out against black skin.

Part of the reasons HIV/AIDS is here is because many have not learned to keep their clothes on by abstaining from sex, now getting naked emphasizes on what? This whole idea of a photo shoot is clumsy. If you have to copy, copy right. PETA’s nude campaign has some meaning to it but this rubbish Karen&co did here is just sheer stupidity and zest to imitate. Well, nothing remarkable should be expected from guys like Karen&Denrele….mtschew!

Thank you….I don’t see any rationale between Getting naked and Campaign against HIV/AIDS…….Rather, the converse should have been the case…..If we have to copy things, we should do it right……Besides I don’t see any nude pics here…they are all covered up anyway……
Also, the dude with an unshaved armpit, I think that’s disgusting…..!

This is embarrassing. They have just disgustingly raped my eyes! Nigerians need to learn how to add some level of class and professionalism to whatever we get into. Whats the message behind the campaign??? coz i don’t seem to get it!

So because American stars are going naked for whatever reason, its suddenly a fad? How Ironic that its for HIV/AIDS. I mean, am I missing something? Like idak said, I’m struggling to understand the message. And why its necessary to assault my senses with such wanton display of naked flesh.

Well I hope I dont get insulted but I dont think I like the concept of posing nude if you are surposed to be fighting a cause that has to do with sex,is sex appel the wy to curb it? Haba Iknow Karen can so like things like this.Even Denrele and all his weird ways dint pose nude or expose any private area.Hmm ladies this cleavage and posing naked or half naked needs to be addressed oh

I don’t get the logic “Get Naked” for HIV/AIDS…such a strange, unthoughtful, self-promoting “campaign”! My people, my people…..

  27. hian!

    December 6, 2012 at 2:31 pm

The only people that even look manageable are the girl in the red shirt with glasses and the guy with her, the girl in the yellow and green dress, and possibly (possibly o!) the girl with the goldish hair piled on her hair. Some others have potential o, (e.g. the cute boy unding his zippers 🙂 ) But generally y’all just look razz…
Usually, a dumb idea might be salvaged by great execution, but here, smh for this team. Someone should get fired… ok, just kidding, don’t fire anybody o, just go back to the drawing board, haven’t u heard of “tasteful pictures”, even when naked, some pictures are “tasteful”…#okbye

  28. Essy

    December 6, 2012 at 2:33 pm

The concept is quite good but the execution is crap! kudos 2 d topless girl dat was very brave of her.

wrong color for our skin tone, or perhaps they should have made a sticker so it could stand out more? I dont even ANY message about hiv/aids, just a bunch of “celebrities” posing…nonsense

  32. Priscy

  35. Concerned Native

    December 6, 2012 at 3:30 pm

lmaoooo…God forgive your children that cannot pose to save their lives…Ephraim you have killed me with your pose… They should have just gotten a model glue unopen condoms on her and have half naky guys with nice body around her..tadahhhh!! good effective campaign.. but this just like most things in naija tacky and unprofessionally making professional people look like mental patients. But in all they tried.

  36. Naveah

    December 6, 2012 at 3:48 pm

First, I understand what the concept was about and this is an honorable attempt to bring awareness to HIV/AIDS. Having said that, POOR EXECUTION can ruin even the most brilliant idea and that is what happened here.

Isn’t it getting naked that is getting people in trouble in the first place with HIV/AIDS? PETA uses the idea of “I’d Rather Be Naked” because people WEAR fur which they are very much against.

The organizers should have gone the opposite direction. I would have had the talents dressed in all black (the color of mourning), all the ladies hair pulled back, very minimal/nude face makeup and have a deep red marking of the symbol for HIV/AIDS appear on their faces or have them hold up white boards with red letterings of words referencing HIV/AIDS such as the stats of how many have died of the disease in every African nation including Nigeria or quotes from famous people on HIV AIDS, the names of famous people or personal friends/family who have died of the disease.

This half baked idea was dead on arrival with the ridiculous poses and even more so because this says “Get Naked” and nobody is naked. Half naked is NOT naked.

You are welcome for the idea. Get back to the drawing board folks. Seriously!

    • Jiddah

      December 6, 2012 at 5:06 pm

Good idea, makes alot of sense.

But what were you guys thinking? the shoot and the concept! Anyway, Dude with the gold chain in his mouth, even if keeping arm pit hair is macho, just trim it abit, you hear?

  37. taiwo

    December 6, 2012 at 4:07 pm

You being naked, how does that support a good cause? There is nothing we won’t see in this life. How does it bring awareness? I don’t see the rational behind it.

    December 6, 2012 at 11:46 pm

You would think somebody with some brain cells would have researched what is behind the concept for get naked campaign in America before they copied , flying blind like bats , how the hell does this help the HIV/AIDS cause ? not only that they decided to run into the nearest village and gather some of the people that didn’t go to market that today to come here and pull their shirts up WTF! thought your campaign name was get naked….. December 8, 2012 at 1:14 pm

Okay…Lets not forget they were trying to fight a good cause…dat’s noble! Now, for photo-shoots like this, where you know there are so many ways to tell the story and so many elements to play with. The most brilliant thing to do was to have explored all ur options, pick one and stick with that. I see slight nudity, colour, joyful expression that were either not supposed to be on set or was poorly utilized to interpret a great story and strengthen your campaign.

Now, using nudity, in itself to interpret a story like this one is not such a bad idea. Infact, it could go in two ways…either brilliant or whatever the opposite of brilliant is…it could go south! Just be sure that whoever is watching gets the message the zipping up is the way forward….think nudity in mud! brilliantly in done, tho!!! Think!!

If you guys infused a bit of goth or dirty arts in a brilliant and artistic way…I believe this could have been stellar…Anyway, just go back to the drawing board.

And these bellanaija readers, before u slash people…can u pull up anything close to this…You guys just yapp and yapp…naija this naija that….what have u done to make it better in your own craft…even in common customer care, most of you will failed…So burn all of ur bad mouth!

  58. pepsi

    December 1, 2014 at 11:57 pm

Ure sooo daft…I’m sure u don’t even wear cloths on a normal day nd u talk about customer care yet u can’t speak good English…’most of us will failed’.really? mxcheeew.
