Updated – GLO Snags a Few More Ambassadors! Omawumi, Flavour & Waje ‘Port to’ the Telecoms Giant




The stakes are high and Telecommunications Giant – GLO is going all in.

The speculations about GLO‘s rebranding strategy for the new Mobile Number Portability (MNP) campaign has gotten the inter-webs abuzz over the past two or three months.

Last month, it was alleged that Tiwa Savage, Lynxxx, Omawumi, Tiwa Savage, Flavour, MI, Bez, Naeto C, Chidynma (The Voice), and Lagbaja were all going to join the Telecommunications giant as GLO ambassadors, commencing a brand overhaul as it drops a lot of its Nollywood ambassadors in return.

So far, Lagbaja has been confirmed and so also has Burna Boy {click here}. But now, three more names have officially been added to the bill – Omawumi, Waje & Flavour.

Also, according to the NETNG, Bez is also confirmed as a  new GLO ambassador which will bring the number up to seven. Do you think GLO focusing on the music industry will get them better results than Nollywood did? And, do you think these new brand ambassadors are too many?

    what do Glo ambassadors do? i’ve never been inspired to buy a glo line by the pictures of famous people that i see on their bill board. I think they should rather improve on their services.

      I’ve always wondered the same thing. Has it been proven that using these celebs increases market share? Cause I swear Sammie Okposo’s face on my recharge card actually annoys me. These networks need to use all those millions for infrastructure upgrades instead!

    Dey should use youths, unknown faces and not just celebs infact dem don carry all d celebs don turn ambassador….glos work on ur how to serve customers beta, work on ur advert and plz do more on youth empowering programmes instead of snaggn celebs…mtchwww dem take my omawunmi n waje…smh

    Etisalat is the best network as far as I am concerned. They have better adverts, customer care and overall services.
    Is not like these ambassadors will improve the quality of their services.

    They don’t sell because Glo does not know how to use them. They packed a bunch of Nollywood stars and did nothing with them.

    ambassadors in a service/telecommunications sector? abegi? it’s like banks using celebrities as ambassadors. people use services that benefit them and provide adequate satisfaction. it’s not like you’re selling a macbook or consumer goods. it makes no sense to have ambassadors for a telecommunication business. i miss the days when i saw fine models on billboards and recharge cards. i guess GLO has a lotta money to waste. i don’t even know who heads the marketing departments of these companies that don;t know what to use their profits for. how many times do you see Chevron Ambassadors. why not put this money to good use by contributing to the well being of the country (invest in education, health, poverty eradication), and not specific people. if GLO and others were doing more of this, i might even be tempted to swtich/port to them. abegi. nigeria and misplaced priorities.

    Couldn’t agree more with nene. Asides making absolutely no sense to have ambassadors for a telecoms business, we dont have a celebrity culture in naija so I don’t know what they achieve from this. Glo should go work on their crappy services and leave billboards alone. You can hardly connect on the first dial or speak for 10 straight minutes without the line going off. Glo is simply the worst.

    If they like they shud use Obama sef, I wil never use glo….the one month plus that I used glo for was the worst time of my life….Never ever.
