Beyonce - Pretty Hurts - April 2014 - BellaNaija.com 01

“Mama said, you’re a pretty girl. What’s in your head, it doesn’t matter, brush hair, fix your teeth, what you wear is all that matters”

To celebrate her cover as one of Time Magazine’s most influential people, Beyoncé has released the video of one of her songs from her surprise self titled fifth studio album.

The music video and the stunning lyrics strives to explore the meaning of pretty.

Queen Bey is asking us how do you define pretty? Join the conversation by uploading a photo or video on Instagram with the #WhatIsPretty

What are you saying? A blonde wig makes her self loathing? What of white women who dye their hair black or red and add extensions? Bleached skin–look at Solange and check for their childhood photos. I’m not even trying to stan but you sound extremely ignorant and it’s off-putting.

One of her better songs I must say. I hope young girls can understand that you should be what you are and not what society expects of you

At least you believe she actually had the baby. That’s a start…..

everyone knows she didn’t deliver that baby. for someone who craves attention, she would have been bumping with that bump everywhere. she’s deceiving herself. everything about her life is a lie.

this woman should just go and seat somewhere with all her double standards and fake”deepness”. Didn’t even bother to watch the video. She’s not bright and judging from the excerpt above I understand why. Sorry honey thanks to ur parents, pretty hurt you. I guess d money is most important. Keep bringing it in thanks to the slow people that still pay you any attention. I’m out

but nobody cares tho. It gets to a point journalism hypes its own hype lol.
Not saying it’s all negative that Beyonce is the object of the hype – at least to some people she makes blacks more human or whatever, like they see you they think oh Beyonce (put an accent on that, bay-own-say? be-on-seh? Belgium, Connecticut, wherever) and instead of thinking dirty, slave, they might be thinking oh yeah those arabesque fake curves and all that hair billowing in the wind and however many million dollars and oh I want you.
Just saying a big fat ‘whatever’ with an eye roll. And the facebook girl’s campaign is annoying too. Lean In. Ban Bitchy. Too silly.

I know, love Rihanna. She interprets music well. She’s also fascinating to me, has flaws and variety. The Beyonce one is more like an avatar joo.

i just cant stand this lady honestly. i doubt she even wrote the lyrics to this track, record label prolly went to buy it from one of these writers cz it wud mke her seem smart and concerned. the media keeps hyping her but noone really sees through her phoney personality. she’s preaching against smth that she clearly encourages. just within a month after delivering her baby she was as slender as a vogue model, y wont other women be pressured into doing same or believing that thinner is always better?? she went under the knife to take out one of her ribs just so she could hv a much smaller waiste to look appealing, she’s a black lady who always has on as blonde weave. just like smone in the previous comments said ‘she should take several seats back with her fake ”deepness” aint nobody got time for that.

I love this song. I think it carries a strong message, and even more so it’s video conveys the message appropriately. The fact that after everything Ms 3rd Ward did, she still lost the crown (to a thinner, flatter chested person) tells the truth.

The society really does “shine the light on whatever is worse”

This video is old. Beyonce released all the music videos alongside all her songs in her ‘self-titled’ album. So the first time we heard each song, we also saw the video. That is why it was termed ‘self- titled VISUAL album” . Really fabulous!!!!
