Nigerian Producer/Director Amaka Igwe Dies at 51

Amaka Igwe - April 2014 -

Rest in Peace…

One of Nigeria’s most distinguished producers and directors Amaka Igwe is dead at age 51.

She suffered an asthmatic attack, and was immediately rushed to the hospital after initial interventions failed. She passed on before getting to the hospital.

She  and her husband were in Enugu for pre-production of an Igbo series when the unfortunate incident occurred.

Ibinabo Fiberesima, the President of the Actor’s Guild of Nigeria, has confirmed the news.

She is survived by 3 children, her husband of 21 years Charles Igwe, an aged mother, siblings and a large extended family.

She is the creator of one of the best TV shows in Nigeria of all time – Fuji’s House of Commotion.

@Iyke, you don’t need to be depressed about death if you believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and confess HIM accordingly. Jesus has conquered death for us. Us Christans will live eternally with God in heaven-even after departing this world. Read the Bible. God bless you.

    May 5, 2014 at 4:58 pm

Rest in peace, Amaka Igwe. She was one of Nigeria’s greatest producer/director both on radio and television programmes. Her products which portray mostly the everyday life of a Nigerian
kept smiles on their faces; movies like Fuji House of Commotion amongst others. We could pretend not to have lost a gem but deeply, she is indeed a real gem.
