NARD Strike Bella Naija

Nigeria’s National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has embarked on a 3-day warning strike yesterday.

The strike is being conducted to protest outstanding salaries and allowances, and training opportunities for its members, among other demands, Vanguard reports.

As a result of the strike, patients seeking care at public hospitals affected by the strike, have been left stranded, as doctors have not been at work since yesterday. Only a handful of nurses and medical consultants have been available to attend to patients.

Hospitals affected by the protests include Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Yaba; National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi; University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Ogun State’s Federal Medical Centre, and many others.

NARD has threatened to go on an indefinite strike if demands are not met.
