It’s Vonne Couture, get your style goggles on!

Drawing inspiration from Grecian goddesses, Creative Director of Vonne Couture, Yvonne Nwosu has designed a bold new collection that is ready to wear. Named “Sheer Fantasy“, the collection is influenced by Greek mythological figures.

Speaking on the collection, Yvonne said she feels this collection is a very important one in her career as it opened doors to a new market for her. “I’ve designed and made several bridesmaids dresses in the past, but this collection created a platform for me to show my talent in creating a few dresses that the actual bride herself would love to wear. It has a very magical and fairytale like aura. I’m thrilled about it, as a whole new industry has been unlocked for me to explore.

Speaking on her new S/S collection, Yvonne added “The collection I’m working on now is not bridal, it’s more electrifying. You may have already seen a few pieces floating around… I’m hoping the public will be just as excited to see it, as I am designing it.

And excited we are. For now, check out the photos from the “Sheer Fantasy” Collection.

Grecian Inspired? There’s nothing Grecian about those pieces. Lovely collection btw, I love the last piece.

The designs are just there. No WOW effect and that sheer blue dress, how is a bride or bridesmaids supposed to wear that? And if this is a new collection like she said, how come Toke Makinwa has rocked that last blue dress a while back?

Grecian Mythology inspired? I guess the nexus between these nice dresses and Greek mythology is lost on us mere mortals and only seen by those who commune with Zeus on Mount Olympus.

I think the colors, the designs, the model and even the background are all really nice. Her attention to detail(i’m a stickler for detailing and cut) is really good compared to a lot of her contemporaries out there in Nigerian fashion and this is the first time I am seeing this designer’s collection- well done. However, some of us like to know what inspires a designer to create a certain collection because it explains a whole lot to the trained or critical eye like without being told, you would know that recent designs by designers Dolce and Gabbana are inspired by the byzentine/ baroque era of the middle ages. The Greek/minoan era was characterized by the chiton, blouson and other draped styles. yes the colors could be identified with that era but not the designs. I think the minoan fashion is more like it because of the narrow waists and flounced(flared) skirts but the gold on lace designs are more synonymous with the middle ages and the 1910s.
