On Monday, the faction of Northern Elders Forum led by Maitama Sule gave President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan an ultimatum till the end of October 2014 to bring back the over 200 abducted school girls from the Chibok area of Borno.

They also told him to end the Boko Haram insurgency, and failure to do so means he is not fit to seek a re-election in 2015.

According to Channels TV, the leaders of the North noted that the warning became imperative because they were of the firm belief that the lingering terrorist attacks and other related security challenges in the country pose a major threat to the 2015 elections and the survival of Nigeria as a nation.

The forum allege that the FG’s failure to put an end to the insecurity in Yobe, Borno and Adamawa, was a plot to weaken the North’s political and economic potentials ahead of the 2015 elections.

Good! This is what Nigeria needs. Pressure on the FG to actually do something for a change! The thought that Goodluck would even consider himself fit to lead Nigeria for another four years is a joke! From suspending Sanusi for raising questions on the missing billions from oil rev, to the mishandling of the Boko Haram insurgency in the north, to the inaction to rescue the kidnapped Chibok girls, Goddluck has had many chances to show himself a worthy leader, and has fumbled every time. Him and his team around him (save a few) have consistently proven themselves to be incompetent and need to go!

Good indeed! This ultimatum is d daftest thing to come out of the North! I will not bother with plenty explanation, and will not bother defending Jonathan, cos Nigeria’s problem isnt about Jonathan…. My issue with this move is with the so called leaders. They have close local contact and influence within their region, they have been so called Northern leaders for more than 3 presidential tenures, and what have they done to keep their communities calm???…..It will shock you that they didnt even get to the polls to vote, and yet here they are issuing ultimatums to someone who ‘for all intents and purposes’ is an elected leader….. PLEASE…. they should get a bloody grip!

No sane individual is happy with d delay in getting our girls back, but using it to score political points…..now thats extremely low and disgraceful! If they mean well, nothing stops them from offering the presidency collaborative ideas on how to get this issue sorted asap….. what havevthey themselves done on this front, or even to curb the insecurity.???

Nigerians should decide who will rule them and not a group of individuals. I mean , the rich, the poor, the homeless, the mighty and the nobodies. Let’s wait for democracy to take it’s course.

As far as I am concerned this is just propaganda on the part of these Northern leaders to unsettle the country and you know what I want to tell them – Shame on you! Shame on you!. Everyone knows that these people can tell their Boko Haram people to release those girls, we all know these almajiris and Boko people all work for them. Their actions just show that they want GEJ to look like a yeye president by causing these problems, God will judge you people using the lives of innocent girls and people to try to achieve your plan. Their blood will not go unpunished.

Arrant nonsense. Why should president Goodluck be given an ultalmatum? Isn’t it the same Northerners that abducted the girls and are the boko haram members who are confusing Nigeria? Instead of the Northern Governors to come together and fish out the evil brains behind these evil acts they are giving someone ultimatum. After all did Good luck swallow the Chibok girls? They are still breathing somewhere in the North. I wonder why the Northerners think that leadership of Nigeria is their birthright. They aren’t pleased with the fact that Good luck is going for another term. Instead of them to come together as a team to fish out their fellow northern culprits, they are busy talking nonsense.

Norther leaders are the bane of Nigeria’s existence. GEJ has allocated a lot of money for security in the North yet these crooks use it to fund Boko Haram. GEJ sends in the millitary, they complain that he’s killing their young men and threaten to sue for crimes against humanity. Now, water don pass garri and they’re looking for who to blame. Bunch of degenrate men!

How are they ‘ northern leaders’ if they can not deal with Boko Hiram ? What effort or useful contribution have they made. Finding the girls is their responsibility too.

Please October is too far. They know those that are responsible but they are to scared to confront them. First stop should be to Ibrahim Babaginda, that man is the brain behind it all. I think we Nigerians especially Christians should google ‘ABUJA DECLARATION 1989’ so we can really understand what is going on here. In 1989, IBB gave $21 billion towards the cause of turning Africa to an Islam state. He gathered Muslims leaders of African countries and set different agendas with priority been putting Muslim leaders in power and turning Nigeria and some other major African countries into an Islamic state. This is something that has been in motion for over 20 years we are just seeing the effects.
God help us. God bless Nigeria.

So really, what they are concerned about is elections. Who do they think they are fooling? Why October and not immediately? If they had been doing their jobs along with the president would Boko Haram have escalated to the level it is at? ABEGI.

I always feel happy when i go through a subject like this and realise that we Africans are smart enough to smell the hypocrisy. The wind is blowing and we are beginning to see. Its now very clear that this people are the masterminds behind the abduction and as time goes on they would be changing threat lines.
Shame Shame Shame to all of you so called Northern leaders, i have not seen any efforts from your end to curb this insurgence. You sit in ur fancy homes giving ultimatums when you hired these lunatics to kill your own people and kidnap children all with a political agenda.

If i see wonaa ehhh i go give slap damn the consequences. Jonathan may not be a Saint but you guys are clearly evil

Hmmm, the northerners are just bunch of power druken people thinking it is their right to rule Nigeria. They even have the guts “giving GEJ our president ultimatum” Northern leaders, shame on you, you know your borders, you know your islamic clerics&extremist, you know where the Chibok girls&other women are, you know their sponsors, to shift the blame from themselves, they went to act a bombscene with Buhari, (awon oloshi). Sincerely I want the northern nigeria to split peacefully, they should go&to think of it, the highest no of Gay men&child molesters are northerns. Irritating set of people.

northern leaders… the mental equivalent of epileptic vermins… grossly inept and pests in the same vein.
I always say that we are lucky ebola didn’t happen in the north. These simpletons would have held several meetings while doing nothing, to demand for huge sums of money and if they don’t get the gargantuan sum they demand, they’ll let the disease spread and claim it spread because the north doesn’t get adequate medical allocations.
I am irritated by this lot. Not an iota of sense exists in them.

Good thing some Nigerians are not mislead or deceived, we know the truth we know our problem, the North held power for more than 38years, what did we achieve?. Now we have a president from the south-south, they are crying wolf. Did GEJ bring the problem upon Nigeria , BH et al……….No! Mr president came and met these headaches, after some useless statement from a frustrated bigot who was one time president who vowed to make ” the nation Un-governable” for Mr president , hence the BH insurgency. No be only to hash tag BringbackOurGirls. they should bring them back alive ooo (lol) , even the bible said ” Fear North” ….. Bigots!
