Not if you follow her argument or put away prejudice and follow facts.
I’m not surprised. It was never premeditated murder for (reeva). There was never any intent/motivation for him to kill her.

      September 11, 2014 at 7:57 pm

I completely agree! The Judge’s reasoning has also been mine all along. There was no motive to kill her, it wasn’t premeditated. Plus the whole fiasco was heavily sensationalized by the media anyway.

He will probably get man slaughter though. There has to be some repercussion for her eventual death.

Wot else do we expect? From d way the Jugde is soubding we knw the final judgement. All dese lawyers has been bought. That guy intentional killed Reeva. If it were in naija tongues will be wagging. Gushhhh am so sad.

      September 11, 2014 at 1:11 pm

Please do share, what was his intention?

    • ak

      September 11, 2014 at 3:42 pm

I cannot speak to his intention but I can speak to INTENT TO KILL

      1. Oscar Pistorius and his GF slept in the same bed.

It does not make any sense why he would feel there was an intruder in his home.
If you sleep with someone on the same bed, the first step you take when you hear noises is to check their room.

The only time anyone can ever feel like there is an intrusion is
      a. If they live alone, and they hear movement in their home
      b. If they hear loud breaking/crashing sound- like breaking and entering.

Both of these instances did not occur in Pistorious’ case

      2. Why would a burgler choose to hide in the toilet?
When people burgle, they either stay in your living room. or they hold a gun over your head.
Chances are if they are not armed, they will hide somewhere.

This leads me to my final point.
If a man, albeit a burglar, is not armed, what justification do you have for shooting him- even more 4 freaking times. Someone you cannot even see?
Manslaughter is self defence- You have to prove attack.

Oscar Pistorius had the intent to kill whomever was in his bathroom.

Whether or not he killed his gf or a burglar is not the issue.

The issue is his intent to kill.

Any man that has a thirst for killing is senile and should be jailed and put behind bars.

Trust me, if Oscar is set free, this will not be the last case of him “Accidentally shooting someone”

      September 11, 2014 at 3:51 pm

      I will also say.

Pistorious had a cricket bat, didn’t he?

That is what he used to break down the door, no?

Why didn’t he fear human life, when he reached for his gun rather than his bat?

Or better still, why didn’t he have both on him? Afterall the “intruder” was behind closed doors.

The man is senile. He is a murderer. The law can name it manslaughter or what not. That man is dangerous. Any woman will do well to stay away from him

BN, I think the topic of the article is a bit misleading…It should be Oscar Pistorious Found Not Guilty of Premeditated Murder. Of course he murdered her, he admitted that. The issue was did he do it on purpose, or was it an accident.

    September 11, 2014 at 12:35 pm

could be manslaughter. he might not hav intended to kill her but she ended up dead anyway.

This decision really shocked me! So judge says he didn’t shoot at the door with an intention to kill?? So when one shoots at a door four times, believing that someone is behind the door, that’s welcoming them right? I just don’t get it o. I guess all his crying and throwing up in court paid off. So unhappy with this.

Only God knows how the whole thing unfolded in the house. I am not surprised about his actions…for goodness sake. The guy has no legs, so he is ready to defend himself at any noise or suspicion. I don’t think this was premeditated murder. Let all men be found unfaithful, and only God be faithful. He knows and he will judge. I am happy he is free, he has mourned his girlfriend long enough. May she continue to RIP.

    • Anon

      September 11, 2014 at 2:01 pm

Free? Did you free him? The verdict is tomorrow. Spare a thought for Reeva’s family. She ended up dead.

    • Orekelewa

      September 11, 2014 at 2:09 pm

Firstly, nobody has set him free, sentencing adjourned till tomorrow. Secondly, if Reeva was your sister or daughter would your opinion be the same? Because it breaks my heart every time it see her folks in that court room and I just wonder how you can say he has mourned her long enough. So if you were in their shoes would your opinion be the same? Just curious…..

    • C'est moi

      September 11, 2014 at 2:29 pm

If indeed it was an honest regrettable error. Would you be able to RIP knowing your family member/partner was serving time for killing you in error? I certainly wouldn’t.

This isn’t the first case of such nature in SA; a few years ago a father was acquitted for killing his daughter in a similar error (thought she was a burglar and shot her in the head)

    • ak

      September 11, 2014 at 5:47 pm

@C’est Moi: LOL… You’re telling me that you will RIP when someone else kills you – cuts your life short.

      Tell me,

Do you have goals? a future? Plans to marry/ have kids?
Plans to watch those kids give birth and provide you with grandkids?
      Plans to leave a legacy?

Tell me, do you have a passion in life?

After you’ve finished answering those questions, please re-evaluate how you can ever be happy if someone destroys all those dreams forever.

Will your story be the same if he accidentally cut off your arm? and for the rest of your life, you are an amputee? Or maybe he just accidentally blinded you? or pushed you down a flight of stairs so you can no longer walk/give birth.

I’m sure you’ll be at peace, right? After-all you are still alive

Most of you cannot even forgive someone for gossiping behind you, or for stealing from you.

But you can forgive someone for killing you?

You must truly have a big heart. Abi na you be Jesus?

    • ak

      September 11, 2014 at 5:51 pm

You know he shouldn’t be punished for cutting off my arm. or blinding me. or running over me with his car.

or slashing my face with a knife.

      Or killing my parents.

Or leaving my child in the bathtub to drown – the child he was supposed to take care of.

Or setting my house on fire with my kids in it.

After all, it was a “honest regrettable error.”

    • Orekelewa

      September 11, 2014 at 7:00 pm

@ Ak…. Thank you for your response to c’est moi, you echoed my thoughts.
@ c’est moi… So because someone is my loved one and they were careless enough to kill me they shouldn’t pay for their actions? Seriously? Why didn’t he ensure Reeva was lying next to him before going all trigger happy? That’s the first thing a reasonable person would have done. Please don’t come preach to me about honest regrettable error!

    • C'est moi

      September 11, 2014 at 8:08 pm

In the above question, I specifically made clear reference to a family member/partner NOT ANY RECKLESS RANDOM PERSON as you state. So yes if one of my parents or siblings/partner whom I all adore as they do me mistakenly killed me in ‘honest regrettable error’ (& taking into a/c the supposition that only the dead know), I would indeed rest better knowing said person wasn’t languishing in prison for it or worse still wrongly charged for premeditated murder. The rest of your epistle is based on irrelevancies due to your failure to acknowledge my qualifier. And no I don’t think I need to be Jesus to be of such conjecture, having empathy will suffice.

    • ak

      September 12, 2014 at 1:40 pm

      @C’est moi

Let me tell you something. In this life, there will ALWAYS be consequences for ANY action.

The offence of KILLING any human being, whether it is accidental or not, will always have a consequence.

For some, it will be horrible nightmares and life long feeling of grief- emotional consequences if you will
For others, it must be a physical punishment- to trigger emotional consequences.

We call it CAUSE and EFFECT.

If any person “accidentally” kills someone else, he must still be punished.

Do you not punish a child for lying? for stealing? for staying out too late?

Why do you punish said child? I mean you know they are sorry, right?

You punish them to let them know it is not ok, That is the whole basis of the law. to instruct and hold people accountable.

Then we have the issue of severity of punishment, In this case, any person who “accidentally” commits an offence should receive a lesser punishment that one who intentionally does it.

Even God, the author of EMPATHY AND MERCY, is still punishing Israel for choosing Barabbas over Jesus. So why do you think you can pretend with your words? Even if you don’t want to punish them for “accidentally killing you”, God will take up your case.

    • ak

      September 12, 2014 at 1:56 pm

Whether they are loved ones or not, fact remains you are dead by their own hands.

I always despise when people speak lofty words that when the going gets tough, they won’t follow through. All you’re talking is good good feeling, when the time comes, you will change your words. Even Peter denied Jesus three times.

I think maybe its because you are dead that you feel at liberty to RIP

      Thats why i also asked.

What if you are still alive-

And your husband is the cause of your blindness.
Or He accidentally sawed off your own arm or your own leg?

Let me take it down a notch- He accidentally ran over you.

Tell me what will you do?

Will you simply accept his apology and move forward?

My dear no one will even come to your rescue when he cuts off your second arm.

If your husband LOVES you, even if you forgive him, he will repay you each and every day of his life.
How can he even look at you the same way?
How can YOU even look at him the same way?

In this case, if Oscar is truly guiltless, the right thing to do is to serve time for killing, be it accidental or not, another human being who had their trust in him

    • ak

      September 12, 2014 at 6:30 pm

As in Orekelewa, you have no idea how vexed i am.

He shot whomever was in the bathroom not 1 but 4 times.

This Oscar Pistorius guy wanted whomever was in there to DIE.

Oya biko, ask me why he wanted them to die.

Because they “broke into his house”

Ask me- Did he see a gun with the burgler? No
Ask me- Did he hear loud crashing noise? No
Ask me- Was the “burgler” hiding away from his view? Yes
Ask me- Did he have a baseball bat he could have used instead of his gun? YES

Oscar is a WICKED AND EVIL MAN… eager to kill, eager to destroy anyone who dared to steal from him.. unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) his EVIL caught not the burgler but his lover.

Does the crime of stealing even warrant death?

How can you compare someone who took 4 shots until the person he was after stopped moving, with someone who took one misguided shot that hit the daughter in the head?

I mean they are both inexcusable, but dang no be d second person wey betta pass?

Oscar should face the tune of the music- He must dance till the end.

For the measure with which you mete unto others, the same shall be given to you

I have always believed Judiciary is one of the most IRRELAVANT arms of any Govt and this Judge just proved me rite; they always neva see wat a blind man can even simply see by touching, “wats this nonsense of proof beyond seasonable doubt” 4 bullets shot one after the other at ascreeming gal friend wat kind of proof do u honestly still want????????? Had this Man been in Uganda heeee…….. all this wud have taken place wen ur in the coffin 10 feet under!

      September 11, 2014 at 2:37 pm

An independent Judiciary is without doubt the most important arm of the Government and if you cared to follow her judgment you would understand why. In fact it has made be reconsider the effectiveness of trial by jury. Would you prefer your fate to to lie in the hand of lay men subject to whim & inclination or a professionally unbiased party?

Having been in jury service I can attest that the jurors in most cases cannot and do not disseminate between fact and legal principle with the care and rigour this Judge has, to come up with a judgement totally free from bias/prejudice based purely on the facts at hand.

After watching the trial almost everyday since it started I think judge Masipa made a right call. Nothing in the prosecution’s case in my opinion showed that the murder was premeditated and he had a motive for killing Reeva. I think because of how long the trial took a lot of us have forgotten how weak many of the prosecution witnesses were. Even though its painful that Reeva is dead, I don’t think we should be too quick in criticising Judge . Masipa. Past experiences with similar cases should tell us things aren’t always as they seem which is why we have to let the law work. I don’t think any amount of money will be worth her reputation in this trial that she knows the wholeworld is watching

This verdict just threw me off completely .not guilty? Yeah right. For killing some1’s daughter, sister, friend in cold blood that’s just sad. justice really has not bn served. he will probably be found guilty for a lot lesser charge and sentence to jail for 10yrs or a lil more then released on parole half way through his sentence. How is that justice. ‘Madam Judge’ have u truely being in that court room at all.Not guilty? How is that even possible.well there is something called karma.where is OJ Simpson now?my heart goes out to Reeva’s family.

For the life of me I cannot understand the fact that if Oscar was shouting to his girlfirend to call the police [like he testifies] right in front of the toilet-why on earth would Reeva not shout BACK HANG ON I’M DOING I T, WHY DIDNT SHE COME OUT WHEN SHE RECOGNISED HIS SHOUTS-it was because she was hiding from him, she locked the toilet door in fear, opened the toilet window in order to be heared when she screamed., pity she did not have the presence of mind to hide in the extreme corner left of the toilet door.- she would have been safer. Oscar Pistorius is a cold blooded killer, whose jealous rage on seeing her nude picture , a fact not presented in court, {see the fashion photographer who took it] he even said she had planned to present the picture to Osca on Valentines day 2013– That Judge is a jackass
