Pres. Jonathan Receives N98.17 Million in Donations from Supporters for Presidential Campaign

President Goodluck Jonathan will pick the PDP nomination form for the 2015 presidential elections on today, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati, said on Wednesday in Abuja.

Briefing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abati also announced the receipt of a total sum of N98.17 million in donations from the president’s supporters.

“President Jonathan thanks all Nigerians, members of the PDP, friends, associates, and all groups who in sincere appreciation of the achievements of the administration in the last four years, have been urging him to seek a second term in office.

“He is greatly encouraged by the overwhelming outpouring of goodwill and support, as well as the confidence of the generality of Nigerians in his ability to continue to transform the country for the good of all of its people.

“President Jonathan is also grateful to all the persons, groups and communities who have sent donations, and made pledges to assist him to pay the required N22 million for the PDP Presidential Nomination Fee and Expression of Interest Form.”

Abati acknowledged the receipts of the donations, which he said, came from individuals and organisations from all parts of the country.

The Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) and the PDP governors donated the highest amount of N22million each.

According to Abati, the president assured the donors that he would continue to do his “utmost best at all times to fully justify the great confidence they have placed in his leadership.”
