Ariyike sometimes I wonder if you’re truly a lawyer. How can you say advise other women to get married early to please others. Are you normal?

My problem is that I can’t tell if she’s being sarcastic or serious…she mentions ovulation which is important – no ovulation, no pregnancy- then she goes on to say after sex raise your legs up and shake them vigorously, that was when I got confused, is this a combination of sarcasm and seriousness?
“Raise your legs and shake them very well so that the sperm will enter well-well”, this sounds like something a stark illiterate will say, because it clearly has no basis in reality or scientific backing. Well, I guess she was combining sarcasm with seriousness.

The lady that acts the crazy Salon owner wife in Tyler Perry’s “why did I get married” Tasha Smith was on the Wendy Williams show earlier this year and said the same thing. She said she and her husband were trying for a baby and after sex she would do a head stand so that the sperm can go in very well lol! Ignorance has no borders.

When people do IVF, after they artifcially inserting the fertilised egg/eggs, they advise that the woman lies down with her legs raised at angle. This helps in the movement of the fertilised egg to the right place for implantation.

Here in North America and even in the western world, it is claimed that our African yam has some nutrients that help us African women to be very fertile despite the poverty in Africa. It was also claimed that this nutrient or thing in yam helps women to naturally conceive twins in West Africa ( Nigeria, Ghana, etc.) definitely before IVF! So I think she got the idea from there. But this one of shaking your legs – well when you are desperate any thing can work!

Because toke is the only nigerian woman in the world. She represents every nigerian person. People cannot be similar and unique in their own way. Narrow mindedness!

It is common knowledge that raising your legs after sex “assists” the sperm in their journey. The idea is to try to counter the effect of gravity as much as possible. I don’t understand why people find this suggestion sarcastic. perhaps her delivery of the suggestion is what has caused the “confusion”, but if you are going to take her advice…take it all the way….

  23. Ada nnewi

    November 19, 2014 at 4:01 am

@ Idomagirl Nne don’t b confused ooh,u have to raise ur legs up to make it easy for the sperm to flow directly to d eggs… lol

Lol. This chic is hilarious. This is what worked for her people so I’m sure she doesn’t expect it to work for everybody. The raise your leg up is true though. I actually learnt that from Guiliana Rancic when she was trying to get pregnant on her show and she went for the IVF session with ther doctor. He advised her to keep a pillow under her pelvic for elevation so that the sperm can go in well.
Anywayz, i raised my leg and shook it many times and today I am pregnant.

The fact remains that anything that is not sciencificaly proved sounds primitive to people but is real. No. 3

Hmmmm!!! For everyone that seems to have a problem with Arike’s list, please note that she said how to get pregnant Naija style… So it can be serious flavored with some humour. Its not necessarily meant to be medically proven techniques. But I completely agree with the last thing on her list, anything you want, take it to God in prayers…. Shikena!!!

Trying for a baby, infertility and all its attendant ‘activities” are no joking matter abeg. Yes, to advice that you raise up your leg after sex may sound comedic t some ignorant people, it is scientifically proven to work for women TTC.

Yam has also been said to have such elements, reason why women who has just put o bed are given yam peppersoup in some cultures to replenish them. As a woman who has experienced this heart-wrenching and all the humiliating procedure attached to TTC, I would say if you don’t understand something, just keep shut rather than triviliase it.

    • Folaxy

      November 19, 2014 at 11:08 am

Dolapo, you are so right. there are too many women who are in pain due to infertility for this to be funny. try some other topic but this one hits too close to home for too many people. I pray she never knows what it feels like to pray in such despair as waiting for a child when your heart desperately wants to mother a child.

    November 19, 2014 at 12:01 pm

Yes she is write, I was just reading a while back that if you are trying to conceive,it is best to have penetration the doggy style. It allows for easy sperm entry to the cervix which thereafter clinches the eggs. It’s good for people to be aware and not act as ignorants, she’s right!!

Raising your legs work.. A friend did so and told me and I did the same, voila! we are celebrating xx months of baby today. So I think people should try it and skip any hint of sarcasm noted.
