    Here we go again.
So how do we verify he’s actually a real soldier?
    Why now? Lol.

That being said, Nigeria does not make arms, we can only import and these countries are not willing to because of the inhumane way our armed forces allegedly act.
    – You do not build a military in one or 2yrs and it is even more difficult to build when strong and experienced military capacity is immediately needed (e.g in times of war). The best time to build a military is when there is peace.
So all the years before Jonathan, what happened to the military funds? Why are we suddenly looking for night vision goggles? The regimes before Jonathan should be held accountable also.

    – And the military has Boko Haram sympathizers. At the end of the day, a large chunk of our military personnel are from the North, some of who still see BH as their kinsmen. BH therefore gets heads up on attacks that the military have planned to carry out, therefore most plans that would have been the end of BH are sabotaged.

As deep as you think this issue is, it is 1000 times deeper.

Helloooo…Jonathan has been in power for the past 5 years! That’s good enough time to train and equip soldiers and national defence.

Fre, are you implying that the Nigerian Army is well funded? and you said 2 years has Jonathan not been President for 5 years now?
we need to stop looking for excuses for this man’s incompetence

Let assume those things were not already in place before he got into office, that automatically absorbs him of that responsibility to provide Solders equipment they need to fight? If your logic is the case, why did he pledge to fight terrorism and keep the Country safe years ago before he got into office, and why is he still making the same promises now to be re-elected again?

Fre how about you go and join the military and see what this people are going thru before coming out to defend Johnathan? Are you kidding me right now? Why don’t you say it as it is, you think what they come to say from the defense headquarters most of the time are the truth? The reason you listed up are the same reason nigeria can’t get better. When the truth stares you right in the face and you try to find a reason why it is like that…….call a spade a spade please not an agricultural instrument, oh well it’s an agricultural instrument anyways.

This is not about the tribe, religion, or affinity to any thing. Theses people are not treated very well and we expect them to win the war over BH, who has the most sophisticated weapon. If BH can gets that kind of weapon, then why can’t the Army. It’s not to sit in Abuja and tweet, it’s about experiencing it from there and even tweeting tweeting it from there. I’m sure if your brother is amongst them, you won’t be justifying GEJ slow attitude to everything.

What he can’t achieve in 5 years,mi don’t know If and when he can achieve it……. Someone is incompetent and you are there looking for excuses for him. Am Igbo and a Christian at that! I can NEVER vote GEJ.
Its about time people know there consequences for incompetence!!!. If we can just go beyond this religion and tribe affinity thing, maybe, just maybe Nigeria will be a better place

How is bh getting their weapon? They shouldn’t tell the world they are still living in darkness in this.

      January 6, 2015 at 9:53 am

I’m not defending or even voting Jonathan.
And yes I have family in the army. A cousin in Maiduguri who’s colleague died beside him from a blast for example. That’s how are knew about the heads up BH gets, even before the theory started circulating.
And we are nowhere where we should be in our military capacity (or in every sector of the economy), we do not need a soothsayer to tell us that.
I pointed certain things out from a neutral stand point. If you come from that standpoint too you’d probably see it.

BH (and other terrorist groups) get arms illegally. These people are funded by top guns, oil money too.
A nation’s army is to get arms legally. That’s why it’s hard

      January 6, 2015 at 12:16 pm

Then I think we need intel reports to block and influence whichever individual or group or even a nation, yes that’s perhaps funding this group and selling weapons to them. There own entity as an individual, organization or nation is peaceful, whereas they are indulging conflict and violence in our own land. Whatever atom of contribution they have made, we must influence them.

Even if it is fake soldier does that change the truth as we all know it? There was no vision in planning for this “war”. It appears that GEJ did not care because it was not happening in the south.
Any good leader knows that he/she does not need to be an expert in any area. They have to know to put experts in the places needed, get up to a working knowledge and ask probing questions of these experts.
To paraphrase a US president: The buck stops with GEJ.
He claims the good things and rejects the bad ones?

Forget your bull crap mentality whether it is APC or PDP. Jonathan should provide good quality governance for it people. This defense dept is a huge failure in this country. Where are all the trillions of Naira or close they budgeted for defense. I don’t like the way he is acting. He should assume responsibility and take actions for everything. Stop thinking is one useless individual or party that will not make you succeed or frustrate. F**k them. You have power over them and use it judiciously. Now, everything seem too late. Only your work to judge.

and how do u verify that its not buhari and his boko brothers that
    r tweeting,,,,,,,

  8. max

    January 5, 2015 at 9:38 pm

and if I may respond, is it the president that wil go to Russian black market to buy weapons and go to sambisa forest to supply the army,,,,the army gets its budget direct from budget just like the police, and their commission headed by their generals approve what needs to be acquired or not,,,,,,,,so instead of blaming mr president, blame it on ur boko haram brother in the military who is sabotaging the military to make sure the army doesn’t defeat boko haram under GEJ watch so that they can use it as a decoy to anoint their leader buhari,,,,God wil not let it happen.

Is that why the West and North want to rule Nigeria. The “born to rule” crap! You all are paranoid that the South South are getting powerful or getting the resources? Most of the oil wells are owned by the Hausas and yorubas. We are not complaining. I have never such disrespect to any President in my lifetime. Goodluck has be disrespected by the West ane the North. Nigeria’s problem is ethnic bigotry. It is time for South South and South East to separate from Nigeria. If the Yorubas and Hausas don’t consider South South and East as part of Nigeria, why are we fooling ourselves over one Nigeria?? This union called Nigeria isn’t benefiting us!

I am a full blooded Igbo girl from Eastern Nigeria and I think GEJ is incompetent and a big disgrace to the whole south and eastern region of Nigeria. His administration is a total failure and he is a weak willed, insensitive corrupt human being that has no regard for the average Nigerian life he is required by his position to protect.

      January 6, 2015 at 12:45 pm

Hey Word, you are making a huge mistake. This situation is not about ethnicity. We the Yorubas that I am familiar with like to say the truth even if it is our son, we don’t cover or shade, we tell you the truth to your face. During OBJ era: his discrepancies, we were voicing out. We never supported anything that’s detrimental to this nation of ours. So, clearly and confirm, this is not about ethnic bigotry. We tell you the truth. Anybody that took over that position again, if s/he does things that deserve praise, we say it to ur face and if otherwise, we do the same.

It’s cute how people like you think dividing Nigeria will solve all her problems, like inter-ethnic strife doesn’t happen in different parts of this country. Make una carry d oil go sef make we hear word. Abeg.

Hmmm…dicey! As much I’d live to doubt the efficacy of this twitter handle, just like some of us; I’d still love to ask, are the concerns raised not valid. Is this the first time that soldiers have complained about being under equipped? Perhaps, Olukolade has been entirely sincere with us. Even though, to his credit, GEJ basically inherited an under armed and I’ll prepared military; he has stayed long enough to instill some military competence. To be frank, Oga Jona hasn’t been helped by ‘sell outs’ among the military, but for the sake of lives lost on a daily, soldiers on death row or dismissed and the HUGE capital budgetary allocation to the military; there should be some sort of progress. A strategy for execution that would yield some needed result. A president needs to be decisive and that’s what I feel, GEJ lacks. The earlier he decides, the best for us all, and his re-election bid. May Nigeria be the winner in all of this.

@Idomagirl, we will take our oil and go. Please don’t forget that the same oil produces 65% of Nigeria’s revenue. I have one question or two for you. Do you understand that people from the creeks are suffering because of the pollution from oil spills. I have lost relatives because of cancer. Christ said “Love your neighbor as yourself”, which means we are to be our brother’s keeper.. Idomagirl, do you visit the water creeks or reach out to any NGOs helping out the communities in Nigeria Delta. Please take a trip and see the that most of the land sticks of poverty. I went to school in the North and most the communities in the North are more developed with good roods and constant light than the communities in the South South. Today, after six years of appeal, Shell has finally agreed to pay out 55 million pounds to Bodo area in Niger Delta, one of the communities s devastated by oil spills. Nigeria government has been covering up for Shell and other oil companies why the people in these communities have be suffering with reason compensation. Someone says take “your oil and go”. The civil rights movements in the U.S.A was successful because some whites joined the African Americans and walked from Selma, Alabama to Montgomery, Nigerian, we are self centered!
