Lana Del Rey covers the September issue of V magazine and in it the 30-year-old American singer, songwriter and model addresses her famous anti-feminism quote.

While on another cover a couple of months ago Lana Del Rey had mentioned that the issue of feminism is just not an interesting concept. She added then “I’m more interested in, you know, SpaceX and Tesla, what’s going to happen with our intergalactic possibilities. Whenever people bring up feminism, I’m like, god. I’m just not really that interested.”

Here’s what the 30-year-old entertainer had to share with the mag:

On her famous ‘anti-feminism’ quote: “Some people listen to music and they don’t really think about it too much further than that they like to hear it in the car. Some people listen to it and they think, ‘God, that’s appalling, I’m not going to let my daughter listen to that.’ The luxury we have as a younger generation is being able to figure out where we want to go from here, which is why I’ve said things like, ‘I don’t focus on feminism, I focus on the future.’ It’s not to say that there’s not more to do in that area. I’ve gotten to witness through history the evolution of so many movements and now I’m standing at the forefront of new technological movements. I’m not undermining other issues. But I feel like that’s obvious, like I shouldn’t even have to bring that up.”

On receiving criticism for her music: “First of all, when you’re writing a record alone, you don’t really think about the effect your music is going to have on other people. I’m not really the type of person to condone any behavior that would end up being harmful to anyone else but at the same time I’m not going to limit my lyrical content to things that don’t really relate to me or sing about things just because they rhyme.”

On naming her album Honeymoon: “‘Honeymoon.’ I guess it’s the word that sums up the ultimate dream. I mean, life is a honeymoon, y’know? Life, love, paradise, freedom…that’s forever. With someone, or just with yourself. It just felt right, kind of the way Ultraviolence felt right before that, when I had a little more rage [laughs]. I love the concept that life is a dream and you curate your own space so that it becomes your heaven. It’s all contingent upon your state of mind, which is why I don’t always do interviews—because it puts me in a bad fucking mood. I really try and keep my world beautiful but it’s tricky. We’re at a point in time when life truly can be what you want it to be.”

I’m so glad she didn’t use the words SONIC, ORGANIC, or MELODIC. don’t do interviews my ass, last promo season she kept regurgitating those words like bad tuna…WHERES THE MANSON x Ldr music video even his p.r. people were trying to distance him from??? That sounds more interesting than quasi-intellectual fart noises probably learned from a pbs special. I feel like everyone should be bored with her being bored by feminism because she’s not a feminst get over it! All the women she emulates were old fashioned BITCHES IN CHARGE but they were submissive when it came to their subjects of idolatry. It’s not new she’s not controversial for it,so I would actually like it if she had the balls to say so instead of this half assed ambiguity garbage p.r. people preprogrammed. U wanna make ur own paradise? Start with retiring some of these tired ass non-apologies, you didn’t get all that surgery and fuck on all those casting couches to sit here and backpeddle. Fuck em. Hating on other bitches because she doesnt feel like growing out her armpit hair and burning her LA Perle bra is kind of unpatriotic. “Anyone who says they’re a feminist bloody well is one”- a quote from a feminist. And any feminist who doesn’t want women to have other interests outside gender equality is just as oppressive as anyone else. Everyone sees she’s achieved something and expect her to act like her vagina didn’t have to lift a muscle. Please. I wish one of these feminists would try to persuade John Wayne he was doing it all wrong. That would be more interesting than aliens even.
