We spent our Vals in Abuja – VP Osinbajo responds to Dubai Holiday Story

The office of the Vice President has disputed reports that VP Yemi Osinbajo and his wife Dolapo spent the Valentine’s holiday in Dubai.

Several sites had reported that the couple enjoyed a getaway in the UAE City.

The Statement
Our attention has been drawn to some erroneous reports and claims on the internet regarding the whereabouts of the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, and his wife, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo on February 14, 2016-Valentine’s Day.

For the avoidance of any doubt, the Vice President and his wife were in Abuja on the said date. In fact, they both attended worship service earlier in the day-a Sunday- at the Aso Rock Villa Chapel alongside several other Nigerians including my humble self.

Claims that the Vice President and his wife spent Valentine’s Day anywhere outside the country is both false and mischievous. Such incorrect and untrue reports should be utterly dismissed and completely ignored.

In as much as l do not subscribe to lies, but you my friend is myopic. This is how it starts. Three days here, one week there. Manage it, it does not matter and all manner of ill conceived tunnel vision to issues is what got us to where we are today. I recall seeing a picture of the Osinbajo’s attending church service in Abuja. So, not sure where that Abuja story emanated from. What l disagree with is your statement that “And even if it’s true. Is it their three day expenses that will save the nation”? We are all shouting that Nigeria is broke, lawless, uncivilised while our leaders are not accountable. How can they? when citizens like you cut them undeserved slack? What is the current mantra again? Drink Nigerian, breath Nigerian…..

Who are you to dictate how someone spends their holiday or money. If its their private fund which clearly he can afford , yes he can go to Dubai for a day self

His money his choice to live….you not only myopic but pointless in this analysis

      February 23, 2016 at 9:22 am

And the Osinbajos can’t afford a trip to Dubai on their own pocket? Not every money spent by a public servant is from the government coffers you know? Nigerian journalism is a joke.. half the stories written by Nigerian journalists is to turn people against each other.

    • huh

I guess you’ve never gone on holiday your life – illogical analysis. Political one-lopsidedness will not finish some nigerians.

No rather l see shallow thinkers here. If the Osinbanjos travel, will they not go with protocol, security? All those people will collect estacode and stay in hotels/eat. Who will pay for all that even if the VP pays for himself and the wife. Your tax will pay. Nigerians and fish brain.

Well the VP wife only corrected her instagram post to say 2015 photo belatedly, but who really cares? Does that mean they were strolling in Dubai on Val’s 2015 when others were campaigning for electoral victory? Lives of the idle and “holy”

What exactly are you still arguing about again, when the V.P has clarified that he was in Nigeria and not Dubai??

Irresponsible Mr VP, this vain VP has time to correct Val Day story but can’t take responsibility for the fake padded budget submitted to national assembly. Vanity. As head of economic team the buck stops with him but he won’t take the blame. Insincere fellow

The President or his Vice are employed public servants. They both had occupied the highest positions in their professions and can afford a descent vacation which they are entitled to anywhere in the world, Why then should the VP be spending time reacting to faceless reports? If this rebuttal is meant to dissuade future accusations it failed because this is a DEMOCRACY, get over it.

Yes you all, can we all agree that it’s their money and can spend it how they like, and please same should apply for anyone that wants to buy a property in bananas island, or some expensive bag fake or otherwise; as no one is supposed to be a care taker of anyone’s monies or even go on an operation feed the nation campaign with their monies.

They wouldn’t have even responded, some mad people will just come up with irritating stories, If the Osinbajos decided to go to Dubai, how does that affects me, the last time I checked he had some good money in his account when he declared his asset.
Na only poor people dey put eye for unnecessary things.
