Tubo by Sandrah Tuboberini uses their debut collection to restructure and reinvent our everyday classics such as peplums (with a mid section see through panelling), gloves (with appliqués), slim flare pants (with exaggerated belle flare), skirt pants (with full on posterio and anterio skirts) and jumpsuits (with side frills).
And Just like global cult favorite Vetements, Tubo knows how to break and reinvent the rules because they’ve mastered them perfectly and very scarcely in Nigeria, a designer comes along with the rare ability to convey the raw energy of iconoclasm while staying true to classic roots — catching whiffs of the old and new and mashing them into one.
Tubo’s style is authentically and originally theirs. I cannot think of a Nigerian brand that has their style and aesthetic. In a field full of many stubborn grasses, Tubo is the rose in the midst.
