Yup, he should be. He’s talented, can actually sing, has been recognized abroad by International Award shows and actually started from the bottom and paved his way to the top through hardwork, perseverance and doggedness, almost 10 years in the industry and still fresh like hot agege bread from the oven!. Yes he should be called a legend!

  3. I claim legend for Him in IJN.

well………. the better part of what you wrote is that you still visited LIB today. Which means you’re also a buyer of what she’s selling (In your own words ”negative news”). SHAME!!! When she was celebrating Nigerians making us proud in the US on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, una no talk o!!!!! Nigerians must talk……….

Who knows if Wiz Kid got a court order to stop Linda from posting anything about him?! It’s possible……. Hence, the reason she carried the news about ONE DANCE being 1 on Billboard 100 and yet didn’t mention his name but implied it

Wizkid has not reach that status. Starboy has not recorded success Justin Bieber has achieved in life, but western world is yet to named Justin a legend for pop music.

Justine Bieber is a legend in Canada …… compare based on country and not world. you need to compare with what people with similar resources have acheived

Proud of wizkid, from Ojuelegba to the world, this will make someone go for blood pressure test, wrong person to try and destroy his career, wizkid is not Dabota and co that local online karachikas can destroy his career, with negative gossip, back to ni Ojuelegba o.

Im not tryng to sound like a hater but honestly I feel that wizkid is only popular because he has a unique voice. If you really listen to his lyrics they kind of dull and repetitive.

      WORD!!!!!!!

    • iSaidSo

      May 13, 2016 at 4:19 pm

      thank you!!

Sorry but Wizkid is no legend yet!!! We have not even attempted to call DBanj a legend yet sef and he paved the way for today’s Naija musicians dominating the Afro Pop music scene.
Wizkid is still young, so lets not put the legend tag on him just yet. A legend is someone that everyone wants to emulate. Sorry, but Wizkid is not there yet. He is still trying to form his own path.

in case yall forgot, quick reminder on legends – Madonna (she pushed the envelope in music vids, other divas copied), MJ (he transformed music videos and forced other artistes to be creative), Mariah Carey (she had a unique style of singing and was able to marry hiphop & rnb so effortlessly, now collabos betwn rap & pop singers is not a crime), TLC (all girl group that pushed the envelope and had worldwide success and impact, other groups copied their fashion and style), Spice Girls, Elton John, Prince, Awilo Logomba, Shina Peters, King Sunny Ade, Fela, OLiver De Coque, Rex Lawson etc

Based on the above, what impact does Wizkid have on the naija music scene. sorry, but party anthems with zero lyrical content doesnt make u a music legend. All those artistes above, have made songs that touched people. Wizkid Ojuelegba is prolly his only song with strong content but dat one sef na wash, cos they dont know him in Ojuelegba. He aint from that hood.

btw – this Osagie sha wants to be controversial at all cost. na wah!!!

All this paid karachikas from banana estate,to make progress in life you must embrace good news, wiz kid his a legend

  16. Nene

    May 13, 2016 at 5:26 pm

Wiz kid is not a legend and I doubt if he’ll ever be. A legend is someone who brings about some sort of change or revolution and has a lot of admirers and followers of his/her work. Wizkid makes some of the most popular music but he can’t perform live on stage, neither has he created anything new in the music industry. 2face might not have popular songs but he remains the only music legend of our time. When people cite wiz kid as a source of inspiration for their career, then maybe he can become a legend.

    • dee

      May 14, 2016 at 6:51 pm

My dear don’t you ever say wizkid CAN’T perform live on stage ever again??you need to go to one if his shows to be able to even utter that. Have you ever done so you’ll know he does only live shows. To you he might not be a legend but to some people he will always be talked about in the history of music in the 21st century iNigeria and Africa as a whole.ia some of these people you called legends have done nothing compared to what the young man is trying to do at this young age. Fine you might not like him or his genre of music or you can even say his lyrics are wack, but you all know that if you ask any foreigners about Nigeria music wizkid is one of the top three. I’ve gone through comments here and I can see a lot of people did not even watch the clip, they just saw ‘wizkid legend; and they went ballistic,. A lot have been said and written about this young man, one even said his ★ is falling but look at him he is still pushing and I pray he gets there. Someone even said legends are spotless of scandal? how many of these legends are scandal free, its part of there battles and scars. Yes wizkid is a legend in the making cos he will always be a relevance in Nigeria music industry

  17. His a [email protected] to the top

    May 13, 2016 at 5:26 pm

People that are in the industry have all since concluded that his a legend already, any negative online principalities filled with bad upbringing and deceit can write his or her report, none is important.we have moved past that stage, now touring the world.wizzy 1

  18. Damilola

    May 13, 2016 at 5:30 pm

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves now. Wizkid is getting recognition, he’s hustling, positioning himself well and getting great results. His song ojulegba is taking him places, and he has a unique voice/music style. Popularity is not equivalent to legend.

We are not calling people that earned legend that title. There are far more talented nigerian artists than him but when it’s your time to shine, it’s your time. So, I will say it’s Wizkid time.

    May 13, 2016 at 5:33 pm

    nope.
Wizkid my brother and he’s doing well, I’m proud and happy for this, but legend over what?

  20. Amaka d igbo chic

    May 13, 2016 at 6:01 pm

I don’t agree wizkid should be classified a Legend, not so fast,…he’s still young and his kinda music is for the young people and present generation, he doesn’t possess the qualities and virtues of a legend. i agree he’s talented, got fantastic voice, good lyrics, wide fan base and all but it’s not all about that, he’s not yet there. If u are talking of Legends, u mention names like Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Micheal Jackson, Onyeka Onwenu,, Celine Dion, R kelly etc this are people that inspired the world through music. As for me Wizkid can never ever inspire me, besides he’s got scandals on his record, a true legend must be spotless. sorry my opinion though.

    • Anon

      May 14, 2016 at 7:29 am

I totally agree with the first part of your comment. But that last bit is controversial. All the artist you named were legends in their own right but everyone knows they did not have spotless records. They all had one scandal or the other attached to them. And who are we to judge anyway. We are human not gods. I can understand if you say wizkid kinda music doesn’t inspire you cause you don’t enjoy his musicality but saying you don’t like his music because he is scandalous, that’s a bit hypocritical considering you even mentioned R.Kelly as a legend.

You see the reaction here. This right here is the reason why you should never try to “destroy someone’s career” (well unless they are criminals and corrupt politicians, then by all means fire.)

First. You are not God- Only God has the power to uplift and to uproot.
Second. When the said person/people start succeeding, you will always look bad. (Even if you don;t care, it will always look bad on you) #FACT

Now anytime great news comes up about wizzy, we will always remember that blogger that said could wreck him.

    May 13, 2016 at 7:25 pm

Wizkid a legend??? Now our standards just dropped. No doubt, he’s talented. But the status of a legend is never built in a decade. And he’s less than a decade in the game. He’s got a long way to go. Whether or not Linda made him more popular is a story for another day. Until then, let his spin makers work on his music, person and CD not the player, the rubber.

Any other report is not relevant,Our own legend.more

  26. Face your own life,we have given him legend

    May 13, 2016 at 8:01 pm

If you compare him with Justin.Bieber that’s fantastically good, that shows his not in the local league which we are saying,to us from Ojuelegba to be in the same mention as Justin Bieber is good enough.#Legend. Babanla

I think wizkid is going to become a legend. I never got felas music until I heard wizkid and his unique fela influence music. Fela was a very important personality in the Nigerian music screen and even internationally. By no means Am I comparing the two but I’m just saying Wiz kid gives me a growing appreciation for felas music. i don’t speak Yoruba but listening to his music makes me want to learn to speak Yoruba. He has pure talent. I sincerely hope he touches the stars.

  30. Ola

    May 13, 2016 at 9:43 pm

Am an unapologetic Yoruba man,I started supporting wizkid strongly because of that aunty.com,I felt bad when after all said and done she still went on and post negative report about the outcome at the police commissioners office,She came out as been ill-intentioned and just wicked, seventy percent of the major news media, both the print, online, radio and television are in the west,we have the largest readership, she failed to understand that most Yorubas will everly support him while most igbos will support her,so the need to be cautious was there from the beginning,I have never given any bad comments about any Igbo person and will never, because I know the sentiments attached, wizkid being a legend or not is not relevant, but because she’s got ever ready negative karachikas to attack him,Davido and Olamide,we are now at full alert for any flying things, they must be destroyed, unless they change.#wizkid Legend.

Ola you and your sentiments are what is killing this country. I love music. Wizkid is a great artist period..nThe guy has fans from all over Nigeria and abroad. I’m sure wizkid would like to know that it is your appreciation of good music that Makes you a fan of his . I don’t think wizkid is an ignorant tribalistic. I think the spat he had with Linda was fuelled by his youth and the fact that some talented youngsters often develop an arrogant attitude. Hopefully he’ll grow out of it. That not withstanding, the guys got mega talent and He is an intelligent artist. Take a leaf from wizkids book of how to be successful , be intelligent be like wizkid. stop docking your IQ by being an ignorant tribalist..I’m Yoruba and you don’t speak for me.infact I find your comment embarrassing. Truth be told, wizkid has achieved what no Nigerian artist has achieved. He has succeeded in putting Nigeria on the map through hardwork and connecting with people. If what he has done is easy, why haven’t we seen other nigerian artists achieve this? It’s also not about Dbanj and kanye, wizkid was deliberate about his career move and as a result, more attention is on Nigerian music. I’m not going to call wizkid a legend not because he is or isn’t but it will only be sentimental not to accept the boy has tried.

You this joker, you don’t know that the aunty blogger is a tribalitic bigot like your fake self, what arrogance does wizkid displays? He’s one of the sweetest shy guys you will ever meet,Wizkid can’t finish talking without smiling, the negative online fantastically corrupt blogger painted him has being arrogant ,you with your low IQ believed, she refused several attempts to meet him,and correct the negative posts. He was forced to fight back. And today his a lot better,by now another pull him down story would have surfaced from the over hyped No 1 in Africa my foot blogger, she agreed to meet the fantastically corrupt politicians and work for them during elections, but not the poor boy that don’t have much to add to her fake life,He must be destroyed.#wizkid legend# Godwin.#Osinanchi gburugburu of Africa.#Convenant child.

If you are lucky to be bless with half of my life’s worth and experience,it will be clearer to you what my interest in wizkid and Linda is,the mischievous game plan of your overrated sister is to demonize him, with negative post and authorizing bad comments about him,the same thing she’s doing to Toke now, with her fantastically corrupt goons insulting the young lady constantly,by the time she fights back, your sister and her online karachikas and people like you with low IQ,that does not see beyond your nose, will not under,.If a Linda that grew up in Onitsha says he will destroy his career,I may understand because of the environment she grew up,but our own mushin Linda, that understands the struggles of everyday life of other tribes and knows it is constant struggle to irk a living for all tribes. She knows better and should be a bridge builder.None of them can afford to pay a person of my caliber.

Do you know what a legend is? Pls lagosians, stop making one think he has arrived when he hasn’t. Wizkid is talented and successful, so also is drake, sisqo, Ciara, jarule, etc. Tuface in my opinion isn’t even a standard yet. Michael Jackson, prince, Madonna, Beatles, fela, oriental brothers, lucky dube, Bob Marley, tupac, Eminem are legends because how their music affected culture with huge success. Adele with all her achievement is not even considered a legend yet
