The Cocktails & Dresses “Made-in-Africa” Movement officially launched alongside Dressmeoutlet.com on Sunday, May 22nd 2016.
The fashion exhibition has been the outlet’s brainchild from inception and this time, it took place in the grand ballroom of Intercontinental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. The venue was revamped for the event by Chronique Events.
The ‘Made-in-Africa’ exhibition showcased bags, shoes, accessories and beauty products.
Cocktails & Dresses was hosted by Cool FM’s OAP Kaylah Oniwo while Idia Aisien of Spice TV was the black carpet host rocking a dress by Amarelis and clutch from Mobos Fashion. The black carpet came alive with Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, Oyinda Ogunsawo, Olatorera Oniru – CEO Dressmeoutlet, Kate Henshaw, Stephanie Coker and many others.
Senator Ben Murray-Bruce expressed and reinforced just how important and worthwhile this event is in providing people reasons to buy Nigerian products to grow the Naira as well as highlighting the social and economic benefits. Honorable Lola Akande emphasized on the importance of supporting women entrepreneurs and promoting made-in-Africa products while Oyinda Ogunsawo represented the First Lady of Lagos State.
In a nod towards made-in-Africa fashion, Tiannah Styling, Kiki Kamanu, Trish O’ Couture, Kinabuti, Amarelis, Princess Aisha Turban, Udo Culture, Terre Lagos, Fin Afrik, BimBeads, TWC Accessories, Addict by Pawprint, Xclamations, Ciana Jewelries, Mobos Fashion, Ma’Bello Clothier, Crystal Hair, Lawiza Creations, The Potter’s Signature and Dot Fashions made special creations. The handcrafted one-of-a-kind pieces were sourced entirely from the best manufacturers in Africa.
Guests enjoyed great music throughout the day as well as delicious treats by Intercontinental Hotel, Buttercups, Bimbimmz Events and cocktails by Unbeatable Cocktails and Cointreau. Guests were also treated to a massage from Tirta Ayu Spa.
Audio docks from Samsung mobile, free exquisite dresses from Trish O Couture and free Ankara-made robes from Udo Culture were given out to lucky winners.
The next Cocktails & Dresses is scheduled for December 2016.
