#Rio2016: Nigeria’s Divine Oduduru Comes a Close Second After Usain Bolt in Men’s 200m Heats

Published

 on

Nigerian sprinter Divine Oduduru aka Mr Die-on-the-line aka Mr I-Never-Experred it, has really done Team Nigeria and the entire country proud.

He gave World Number 1 Usain Bolt a run for his money when he finished second in the 200m Heat 9 in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Oduduru finished second in a personal record time of 20.34s while Bolt finished in 20.28s. Another Nigerian, Tega Odele ran in the race but could not qualify.

This makes Divine Oduduru the reigning Nigerian 200m champion as he is through to the Semi-Finals. Congratulations!

Congratulations young man, am sure you didn’t experred it. I watched his interview where he complained about lack of sponsorship for Nigerian athletes. I hope he goes through to the finals. All the best.

I’m hoping he puts his die-on-the-line philosophy to work tomorrow cos him coming second to a jogging bolt might not be a good yardstick for performance. Go get em Divine!!!

Anything can happen cos he is ‘ready to die on the pitch’ as he has ‘a black man blood’.#forgiveme#Justtrolling#Najoke

Actually, he wasn’t close. Bolt was strolling while he ran his PB. He’s going to have to improve on his PB to make it to the finals

its heat so usian bolt isn’t going to put so much effort. usian was probably jogging or walking or cat walking or crawling sef.

lets see what happens in the main event. congrats to the boy. naija athletes always do well in heat but they alway fumble during the main race. I applaud them tho.

It’s not by blowing oyinbo. The guy is a local guy to the core and I love his passion, H factor and all. He tried o! All the better than American-British-Spanish-French accented Nigerians did not even show up in the heat. So Tharthy Gbosa for you my guy.

Hi kenyangirl, Mr Divine Oduduru was the subject of a viral video/meme/gif that showed him expressing his joy over winning a 100m tournament some months ago. In it, he said and I quote “Hai neva experred hit” meaning “I never expected it” in English. So that’s why my fellow BN peeps are using that particular word lol.

omg the guy is famous. i didn’t realize it was him. good luck to him, although i also don’t want Nigeria to medal at all – so that our big fat F will motivate us to try a new approach next time (don’t steal all the money for athletes, spend years not days preparing and strategizing…)
Have fun out there, brov. and win if you can.
