Heineken Lagos Fashion & Design Week Day 2: IamISIGO
Day 2 of the Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design Week has come to a close and here’s your BN Style Runway Recap.
IamIsigo’s Spring Summer collection saw a lot of this seasons hot trends; ruffles, cold/off shoulder and statement sleeves. The colour palette was quite simple with red, navy blue and white but the designer added a pop of yellow and green with the hats on some of the models.

No originality in these LFDW clothes. Clothes look the same from one designer to the next. It is as if they are copying from the same sources. As a result too, so many clothes made are not for our warm weather but for cooler temperatures. The designers are copying off the fall runways and we forget that it is hot as heck in Nigeria. How comfortable will it be to wear them? I can understand if this was a few pieces but such a high percentage of each collection. Is it meant straight from air conditioned car to airconditioned building?
The westerners will tune into our fashion to see new ideas and creations and what do we give them? The replica version of what has already been shown on the New York, Milan and Paris runways. I am yet to have any collection impress me. I also see that most designers left our prints alone, in favour of these chiffon, lace like fabrics. Let’s be original. Serious originality needed. Too many fake designers. People with financial resources at their exposure and think they know a bit about fashion so they call them sleeve designers.
No need for insults. Just constructive criticism here. My comments apply to the LDFW in general.
