I was just about to launch…… Damn it! Congrats to her!

I feel she’s taking things too fast, launching everything at once…I might not know much but I feel she should take it one at a time, running a social network is not an easy task. Concentrate on one, grow it then expand grow, expand..that’s the formula.

Douglas, you’re wrong. I think it’s perfect timing.! This is something Nairaland should have done long ago.

Running a social network is not easy, I know. But she has all the resources to hire the best iT professionals to handle the site.

ermm… you wan advise a billionaire on how to run a business. in what capacity are you doing that?

    • Danny

      December 13, 2016 at 12:56 pm

Lol. Because billionaires don’t make mistake? Do you know how many product launches promoted by billionaires have failed? Let me give you just two examples; Google glasses and Microsoft’s Zune. You can google the rest.

This chick struggles with execution; all her things dey always look mgbeke! I mean with all this money she purports to have, one would expect better. Na wa!

what does it profit a man to hate his neighbour ?God is love love is God ?

    • Lala

      November 1, 2016 at 1:15 pm

What are you? An 18-year-old? Every thing isn’t hate you know! If the social network is as her blog, expect people’s bank details with which they purchase to go missing.
A social network is not an impossible thing but remember that only facebook n instagram are doing well with it! Twitter is struggling, myspace is packed up, etc.
Instagram, Facebook n whatsapp are now all owned by Facebook. Only Snapchat has refused to sell to Facebook and Facebook is doing its best daily to clone Snapchat.
If she wants something basic, she will be fine but she wants astandard social network, then the best developers in the world need to be hired- social networks have the best developers n hackers anywhere in the world.
That aside, if the majority of users are the mostly the commenters on her website ( they hardly ever type reasonable stuff), then of course she would need to attract a wider spectrum of people beyond some young ones tying drivel.
I have issues with Facebook and it’s use of people’s data n selling of people’s numbers etc, despite complying with privacy issues, how much more a company that has a history of not hiring capable hands, so for that reason, I won’t be signing up, moreso, I no longer read the blog, nor do I visit the DailyMail anymore.
Bellanaija’s clickbait stories are going in the same direction and her comments are going up, so it appears that is where the market is. Goodluck to them all. No hate, just an opinion!

It is inaccurate to say that instagram and facebook are the only successful social media platforms. Have you ever heard about Sina Weibo or VKontakte. This is one thing I like about Russians and the Chinese, they are never to be outdone by the Americans. Why contribute to Zukenbergs’s billions when we can create our own billionaires in Nigeria. This is a brilliant idea; it might fail. But at least she had the courage to make the bold step.

You seem quiet pained. To succeed you’d have to deal with such attitude. Do you still remember how Facebook started? the GUI etc? Can you compare that with the Facebook of today? it’s called evolution. But it has to start from somewhere which is what Linda has done. When next you think of a starter as “mgbeke”, be sure you have started something yourself.

But she said in an interview with CNN that Facebook is her competition. If you are going to compete with Facebook at your product launch, then you should have a better product than they do or at least something that matches and no the ‘mgbeke’ lol (I am cameroonian and this is the first time I am coming across the word).

No, actually his comment is very much on topic.

Online databases get hacked all the time, particularly the ones belonging to financial institutions and social media companies (even Yahoo suffered this very recently). If your personal information is getting stored in any virtual vault, better believe that a group of very clever people are constantly working on how to steal it. And sell it.

She (Linda) looks like she’s on to a good thing, there’s always money to be made from running a well-used online social space for people to interact. Hopefully, she has a really tight IT team working behind the scenes to protect her database.

Can see LIS becoming a takeover target by one of the big players in the social networking space if she manages the site very well. She is really up to something big. I hope she has a workaround in place to fend off seasoned scamners else the website will become yet another scammers delight like Facebook and dating sites. Go girl!!!

LIs is tapping into the huge African market to boost her earning potentials through advertising. Why not?

I bet in the next 2 years this lindaikejisocial will be valued at $1.5 bilion. if she can get up to 50 million subscribers in 1 year and package the website well.

      ”Stf up. Off topic.”
How does it feel insulting a complete stranger on the internet. I hope the likes of you don’t dominate her social network, else sane people wwould have to stay away so as not to be insulted for having their own opinion.

Congrats to Linda. Its interesting to observe how organisations like Wimbiz don’t celebrate her. I’m not sure why because she is unarguably successful. Let’s see if this new venture takes her to the point that even her doubters will have to accept her success.

    • Oma's mum

      November 1, 2016 at 6:20 pm

Wimbiz will not … Linda thinks she is bigger than them plus , wimbiz can’t associate with people or groups that give others a platform for hate etc , wimbiz not not for razz people n money missed road , wimbiz empower n grow , raise women from low n high , they don’t buy bag n shoes there n make noise about it … They r not petty people there can’t u see women on wimbiz compare them with li da other bloggers n there razz readers , in wimbiz having money doesn’t necessarily make u successful , don’t talk about bloggers not wimbiz on same sentence bike …

    • Nene

      November 1, 2016 at 6:56 pm

Biko sit down. She is bigger than Wimbiz and I’m not even a fan. She’s a good example of someone who came from nothing to something.

A place to buy and sell. I hope people won’t be using their debit cards to buy anything on there anyway for now because the world is experiencing some major hacking terror. Paga can tell you horror stories, same with konga and mpesa of Kenya too.

its a good initiative tho. You can’t win lottery if you don’t gamble. I hope it gets to where you wants it to be.

I have had this on my mind, but I (my coy) have chosen not to execute it yet, not because of fear or procrastination, but realistic. If Africa (not Nigeria) can restrict facebook like in China, in a jiffy I will come on and throw Linda off, better still allow her to swim in her pond. There’s enough room or maybe not. How many people have easy and consistent access to the internet again in Nigeria? How many are on Facebook, twitter, etc. It could be great, but that will be some genius move with genius brains. Not mediocre and that is if, Nigeria restricts. Will they? can they? We will NOT allow. Maybe Linda is really fronting for govt or politicians.

I don’t like wasting time. All the same I really do salute her courage or excitement. BN pls stick HARD & SMART to your core. Don’t dare move and fall flat.

I may be wrong but I’m almost certain that Linda Ikeji is infringing on Facebook’s intellectual property rights. The website basically has the same layout as Facebook. She should consult lawyers on this. Also, I thought she would go the app way.

It’s a good social media website based on what i’ve seen myself. Its good enough though design is a little bit too basic and well, for something we’d expect to become very standard on the long run, then there needs to be a more improvement in those technical aspects and well,,, that’s where it starts though.

Nice idea, but I think a better name for the social media would have been better… One thing I like about the Western world business name must not necessarily bear the owners name but a name that will sell the product. My thinking though

Running a social network is not about been wealthy, it’s all about leveraging the opportunity other’s fails to see. Other’s work for you like riding a billion dollar bicycle which generate more. Just generous enough to offer a reward, why is Mark Zuckerberg not offering same reward. When you think outside the box, you become ever rich.
