So sad! My sec school classmate’s brother. I would like to correct the notion that he died from expired drugs. Contrary to popular opinion, counterfeit drugs (depending on what they contain) or worse yet, mislabeled drugs are potentially dangerous. Expired drugs might lose a percentage (3-5%) over several years. There could also been a medication allergy, misdiagnosis or dispensing error.
We have a serious medical crisis in the country with subpar healthcare delivery and questionable drugs being administered.
Let us address the true cause of these deaths so that we or our families dont have to go through a preventable tragedy such as this.

I meant to say that expired legit drugs are not dangerous. Counterfeit drugs, dispensing errors or drug dosage errors could kill.
Only Toxicology testing can confirm the true cause of death as drug related.

Until then the status quo is that it was expired drug. Rest in peace Eric

Expired drugs lose potency slowly over years. They do not on their own cause deaths!!! That was the notion I was trying to correct. Pharmacy School and even google could be helpful to you.

Reiterating: We could find the actual cause of his death through toxicology and an autopsy. Could have been a medication error, an allergy, wrong dose, counterfeit drug, or even an unknown illness. We need to find out to prevent another tragedy.

Didn’t a doctor Craig write a long post here last week that it is possible

Thanks, I actually just looked up Dr. Craig’s article and I was impressed with some of the replies. I wasn’t aware of it and so my reply was totally based off my knowledge and expertise. I am happy that we have people who know how to research stuff and not just spout out what they think popular wisdom is.
Our health sector needs serious reform and it is useless if the public is misinformed or isn’t educated about topics such as this.
I wish Erica and her family nothing but love and strength during this difficult time

May ur soul rest perfectly in d Lord. As a medical personnel, expired drugs loose it’s potency $ not toxic to d human system. Families rarely request for autopsy to be done to their deceased in this country of ours. This level of misdiagnosed report is a total blow in d health sector. Well…… May God grant the family d grace $ strength to bear the irreplaceable loss.
