BN TV: Uwanma Shares 5 Marriage Survival Skills in her Latest Vlog

OAP Uwanma Odefa is out with a new Vlog where she shares her thoughts on love, life and everything in between, and this time she’s sharing 5 Marriage survival skills.

She says:

Marriage appears to be a jungle of sorts these days, especially for women. Citing Mercy Aigbe-Gentry, Tonto Dikeh and a host of others, it appears that there are certain skills women (and even men) need to survive the minefield that marriage has become. These are skills mothers should ensure their daughters have.

Being able to cook and do back flips in the bedroom is not enough. Especially not for personal survival and not just relationship survival. Naturally, you must be physically and mentally healthy to be able to inject any value to your relationship or marriage.
So, these 5 Marriage survival skills will guide you towards surviving marriage and your relationship. Men are free to adopt and adapt these skills to suit their needs or situation.

    1. Don’t look at outward appearances before marrying, there’s more to marriage than good looks, money in the bank, and flashy cars.
    2. Get to know yourself while single. Develop yourself and love yourself. You are good enough!
    3. Seek God’s face concerning your choice of a future partner.
    4. Watch out for red flags! Love is not blind feelings, it is a choice.
    5. The courtship and dating period is for asking questions and gathering facts. Don’t be in a hurry to “settle down” without doing your homework.
    6. Marry your own wife/ husband, not another person’s.
    7. Reduce the need for societal approval or the need to prove to people that your relationship is secure by flaunting it on social media.
    8. Evil communication corrupts good manners. If your friends are not marriage-preserving, they’ve got to go!
    9. Whatever you will not accept while married don’t condone while dating.
    10. Never stop praying for your marriage.

Self-defense skills ke? This a joke right? You never expect that the man who should be your protector will be your oppressor now. Prevention is better than cure sha.
I agree with acquiring financial management skills and being financially independent.
Yes to #3 not every issue should be world war 3.
Yes, learn to cook and have good sex, same applies to men, learn to cook and have good sex and be providers and protectors.
Marriage should be about synergy, not opposition.
Watch out for men who are not accountable to anyone. Men who do not fear God or man.
In Jesus name, my marriage will not be about survival but about thriving.
It is not by force but my own marriage will work in Jesus name. Amen!
