Question: Can Davido pull this off? (Take into consideration that this is a mainstream event). Methinks not!

Dont do this. The Weekend headlined this show but let’s pretend we don’t know what attracted the crowd. The crowd will surely know Davido’s song too. Even Wizkid is overwhelmed is why he is sharing this.

I’m happy for Wizkid tho. Linda once said ‘I’ll be here for a long long time but some people will only reign for some time and pass’ which we all know was directed at Wizkid. That comment is very stupid and I’m happy she can be alive to witness this kind of success!

So Africa is not mainstream ? Depite all this hype, no individually done song by WizKid has entered any chart in USA or even in European countries. He is just depending on collaborations. I am still waiting for any of his songs to shine in tens of the European countries’ music charts like Dbanj’s Oliver Twist (2013).

Even if he makes charts, it doesn’t translate to a crossover. Do you know how many one hit wonders make it to Europe yearly, even from artists that are Europeans. 2ndly, Europe isn’t the hardest market to crack. Even Europe wants to crack America. And mostly fail. They only succeed when the music travels from Europe to America. This was how Nigerians got carried away with dbanj. Didn’t gangnam style also enter charts. Where is the dude now? He is in South Korea, where he was famous before gangnam style, still doing his kpop or whatever they call it. His second single after gangnam style didn’t have same effect as his first global hit. But at least he has home with structure to go back to. By the time dbanj returned….wizkid and davido have taken his spot. And he is still struggling to be relevant again. Anyway, best of luck to them all.

BN, release all my comments nau. Ahn ahn

We don’t need western world to accept our music. after all majority of Americans both black and white are anti Africans.. mainstream or no mainstream Nigeria music and movies is worldwide now. accept it or stay in denial.

Get your fact right! I live in London, and wizkid’s song is played on radio and TV. In fact, Comecloser was number 20 on the chart for the best streamed song in the UK. I saw it on TV. Last week. It used to be on MTV Base UK too. Facts! He performed on the main stage. The main stage is for mainstream artist, not just any artist.

I dey feel sorry for all una that dey do team wizkid and davido. And all you gullible people that think say this is major. When this guy return back home with nothing after the rollercoaster stops…na so una eyes go clear. If the industry in Nigeria doesn’t start to structure itself, the west won’t respect you. It is because Bollywood has good structure that few of their actors can go back and forth between Hollywood and Bollywood. They are respected. We can’t say same for Nigerian entertainment industry as a whole. Every time now, you all get excited by flashes in a pan. Burying una heads for sand. May God help us, wake up to reality. There is nothing wrong with going international. But international pass international. Sean Paul, Kevin Little, Sean Kingston and etc went international but where are they today. I bet they are still buzzing in the Caribbeans but are they still international. Nope. It is better to reign from home across the globe than to leave home and try to reign in the globe, in the entertainment world. As always we all go dey run from Naija and avoid the big elephant wey dey room. I can even understand people who find it hard to breakthrough, you can always try elsewhere if it will work there. But the ones who made it through Naija running off to E-merica. They talks say make we no limit them while they leave home to rot. The same environment and industry which gave you breakthrough. Nigerians, always looking for temporary solutions to everything. Always Me Me Me Me. If America didn’t nurture & structure its showbiz industry, will you people have their legacy to run to now. If a lot of American artists & etc have gone to Europe cos of English artists success and left America, will America be the biggest showbiz environment in the world. It is not too hard for non-global artists to perform in the UK or Europe . There are so many festivals with non-mainstream artists every summer across Europe. Guys, wake up. All these artists get a breakthrough in Nigeria and they get the opportunity to wine and dine with politicians. Yet they don’t see it fit to lobby and romance the politicians to help them with structuring their industry. All they know how to do is collect money, showoff, brag, fight, prove they achieve temporary feats first and etc. Then tell us they are international and start to fight each other over nonsense. And of cos some Nigerians join in madness. Rubbish. I dey waka. I don tire for Naija matter, bikonu.

Now we have the internet as a major marketing, promotional tool. Wizkid will always keep reinventing himself and Davido should do the same. There are so many great acts from naija and telling them to stay local and hoping their music goes international is suicidal in these age and day when the life span of hits are getting shorter by the spins.
They should never be scared of anything out there, remember the world is now a global villiage!

For the fact some people failed in their quest does not translate to his failure. We should all commend this kid for making us proud at the global stage. He has really done well! Am genuinely happy for him.
