Army General Sani Usman explains purpose of Operation Python Dance II | WATCH

Exercise Egwu Eke II, also known as Python Dance, is aimed at exercising the troops of 82 Division, to enhance their proficiency in internal security duties, General Sani Usman of the Nigerian Army has said.

He said this while speaking at an interview with NTA news on Wednesday.

Python Dance, which is currently taking place in South-Eastern Nigeria, has left residents of the region fearful, as it coincides with the agitation of a sovereign state of Biafra by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

But the army general has said that this is not the purpose for which the 82 Division is stationed in the region.

It is also to address to security challenges of kidnapping, armed robbery, that are associated with the ember-period in that particular region.

The bit does raise the question that: Are cases of kidnapping the responsibility of the army’s or the police?

Similar exercises have taken place within the North West and North Central parts of the country in April this year, the General added.

I can speak for the South East if no other region and i’d say to the general, we as a people are not stupid. Your nonsense dance is not needed in the east. Even prior to the civil war from the genuine accounts one has heard, the South east region has remained the most peaceful region of Nigeria because the people there are only interested in minding their business- literally speaking.

I said on this platform before the last elections that by the time we are done with this president, the nation will be struggling to see if there is still a country called Nigeria. BN, if you have a way of pulling out past posts, check it out. Such prescience!

The president through his actions and words has got this nation to where we are. It is the responsibility of all Nigerians to address the root cause of the present problem- the president’s divisive and sectional leadership- and seek way out, not some silly dance when Boko Haram is still holding lectures of Unimaid and other Nigerians captive and the military has not danced them out of just one state.

Yesterday night na die. Machine gun fire everywhere. It’s not funny. Nnamdi e no go better for you oh. Telling unarmed men to go and fight soldiers. Agent of death. God will punish you. I totally regret supporting this administration. They have taken clueless to another level. Why add fire to an already tense situation? Trying to kill ants with a hammer. No strategy. People are already complaining of marginalization yet your answer is to keep excluding them and making lopsided appointments.

Honestly the thunder that will fire him… He is calling for war talking ’bout “I am ready to die” meanwhile people are dying for him and his British passport. War indeed. When stupid shit like this happens it is innocents who suffer. How many children were killed or forced to become killers during the last one? How many women were raped ruthlessly by soldier animals on both sides?

For some reason I thought you lived in Abuja (don’t know why). You’re in Aba?

NNE,I was born in aba . I went for one dry wedding oh and I’m trapped. Sporadic shots everywhere. Don’t know how to leave with my family. I don’t live in abuja though.

This is exactly what I expected of a buhari’s presidency. The efforts this devil of a President has made to ensure the Igbos are hurt eeh ..if he had put half of it in revamping our dead economy or fixing infrastructure, we would have gone far as a nation .. but this his hatred of the good people of the south east will surely consume him .. mark my word. BN let me not look for my comment o

All the people calling Nnamdi kanu. You all forgot Buhari is the reason why he is in Nigeria?
Nigerian government let the man go back to wherever he came from!
Do right by your people and trust me no one will listen to kanu, especially when he is in far away London and the citizens are happy because they are treated fairly in their homeland.

Python dance, simply means “shut up” Listen to the agitation of the people and engage them.
    Nigeria is democratic not AUTOCRTIC!
Don’t frighten, terrorize and cage people. Let them express themselves! Give them good reasons to be called Nigerians and all these agitation will end!
    Treat all your citizens alike!

Buhari, the whole Nigeria, is your constituency not just the north east! Whether people voted for you or not is not relevant! !!
You actions as a president is what is fueling this agitation! !!
