#FreedomForGirls: WATCH Fierce 5-11 year old Girls Dance to Beyoncé’s “Freedom” for #DayOfTheGirl
To celebrate the International Day of the Girl, pop icon Beyoncé teamed up with Chime for Change and The Global Goals to release a short film showing an international troupe of fierce, charismatic young girls ages 5 – 11, lip syncing and dancing to her 2016 song “Freedom.”
The video shared some really upsetting statistics such as 71% of human trafficking victims are girls, 63 million girls have undergone female genital mutilation, 1 in 4 girls gets married as a child, 130 million girls are out of school.
The video was directed by MJ Delaney who says “Happy, smiley joy doesn’t really cut the mustard now,.A lot has happened globally, and I wanted to do something defiant and angry and demanding.”
