For the third consecutive year, EatDrinkFestival organized by Eat.Drink.Lagos has been the highlight of the December season for food lovers in Lagos. Unlike other festivals that happen over a series of days, EatDrinkFestival is a single day climax.

The event, presented by Stanbic IBTC took place on Tuesday, December 26th. The vendors were expertly curated by the duo behind Eat.Drink.Lagos to present a truly diverse offering to attendees. With over 60 vendors, food from 5 continents was represented. One of the festival’s most popular dishes was a seafood paella by Chef Duhalde of La Taverna Restaurant. From festival attendees, two newcomers to the event – The Spice Basket and The AJ’s also stood out for their crab roll and cola wings respectively. The festival was of course not without our local favourites, including spicy peppered snails and fresh palm wine from Baylow Foods, authentic Port-Harcourt Bole from Ette’s BBQ and piping hot amala from Buka2Go.

The numerous and varied food and drink vendors are the biggest draws of the event, but this year, the Festival Main Stage in partnership with Maggi was what sent the event over the top. Top Nigerian chefs and bloggers were pitted against each other for the ultimate showdown of some of Nigeria’s favorite dishes. In the final cooking challenge, Chef Imoteda of Heels in the Kitchen, took it home for the chefs with her “heart warming” as it was described egusi soup.

A trip to Lagos in December is always worthwhile but for foodies, the EatDrinkFestival always makes it extra special.
