Following the arrest of Co-Convener of the Bring Back our Girls (BBOG) movement, Oby Ezekwesili earlier today by the Abuja Police command, the former Minister of Education has been released.
She made the announcement on Twitter confirming that the #BringBackOurGirls march will continue tomorrow.
Thanks friends. We have left the FCT Police Command.
Tomorrow morning, WE SHALL continue with our .@BBOG_Nigeria #BBOGMarchToTheVilla that was FLAGRANTLY and LAWLESSLY INTERRUPTED by the @PoliceNG today.
WE REFUSE THAT ANYONE SHOULD INFRINGE ON OUR CONSTITUTIONAL FREEDOMS.

7 other members of the BBOG movement including Aisha Yesufu, a known critic of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration who were arrested have also been released.
The group has been carrying out sit-outs in Abuja since more than 200 girls were abducted from Government Secondary School, Chibok, in April 2014 by Boko Haram insurgents.

Why isn’t there more outrage on this? Na wa for Naija, this is why we don’t have activists, you think I lie? Who is equivalent to our Martin Luther or Mandela?
And why exactly were they arrested? Is it wrong to stage a protest anymore? How many herdsmen were arrested? I applaud her and the BBOG team for continuing the campaign. It’s very sad that most Nigerians have almost forgotten about those girls. Thank you Madam Ezekwesili. God help us in Nigeria.
Well done madam! Those who don’t know what it means to stand for something have laughed and mocked, but posterity will remember you for standing for the truth regardless of whose toes get stepped on. The parents of these girls and the girls themselves will never for your sacrifice. Thank you for persevering despite hostilities from all sides. May all those waiting for your downfall be put to shame!
Couldn’t agree more. She seems to be the only one that has taken up a cause and judiciously kept at it. People question her on why she is silent over other issues. I ask them how many things do you want her to do in a country where everything has gone wrong? Everyday there are new things coming up. If it’s not herdsmen, it is bokoharam, rape, women rights, the economy, corruption, kidnapping, security challenges, robbery, no electricity, no fuel, no water, unqualified personnel in government, no payment of salaries, overpaid politicians/government officials, unemployment, etc. Who can keep track? You can’t be accusing Oby for not taking up on these issues. You want to kill her? If most Nigerian passionately sticks to one subject we will have some headway. Those who are passionate about other issues need to form a group and stop expecting Oby to form it for them.
