Dino Melaye declared Wanted as Suspects in Gunrunning Case escape Jail - BellaNaijaSenator representing Kogi West District Dino Melaye has been declared wanted by the police, NAN reports.

In a statement released by the Kogi State Police Command, both Melaye and Mohammed Audu, son of late former governor of the state, were declared wanted.

According to the state’s police commissioner, Ali Janga, this is a result of both Melaye and Audu providing false information to the police concerning the alleged attempt on Melaye’s life in 2017.

The police statement comes after the 2 suspects who named him as their gun supplier escaped jail.

The suspects, Kabiru Seidu aka Osama and Nuhu Salisu aka Small, escaped the A Police Division in Lokoja, Kogi, around 3 AM.

The 2 were scheduled to be arraigned before the Kogi Federal High Court on Wednesday, along with Melaye and Audu who they named as sponsors.

According to Janga, the 13 police officers on duty during the escape, made up of 5 Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) officers and 8 conventional officers, have been detained for questioning.

The names of both Seidu and Salisu, with Melaye and Audu, along with 4 others who escaped, have been sent to Interpol for their immediate arrest.

Janga called for the support of residents, asking that they help with information that may lead to arrests.
