Former presidential aspirant Diane Rwigara, who was jailed last year for alleged insurrection and inciting citizens to violence, is set to go on trial a year after she and her mother were arrested.

According to BBCNews, the businesswoman and women’s activist whose nudes leaked shortly after she announced she was running for president will go on trial today in what many claim to be politically motivated accusations. Her mother is also on trial.

Rwigara topped headlines when she declared her intent to contest Rwanda’s Paul Kagame who has been in power since 2000. She openly criticized his governance.
