Imran Khan says he is not worthy of Nobel Peace Price - BellaNaija

Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Imran Khan, has said he is not worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize after growing calls on social media and by his ruling party to award him for his role in defusing tensions with India.

Information Minister, Fawad Chaudhry, submitted a resolution to the National Assembly on Saturday, suggesting Khan receive the prestigious award.

More than 400,000 people have signed an online petition calling for the prize be given to Khan.

The call came as a result of the leadership and peaceful gesture Khan extended during the tense India-Pakistan standoff by releasing captured Indian pilot Abhinandan Varthaman.

However, the Prime Minister took to Twitter saying,

I am not worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize. The person worthy of this would be the one who solves the Kashmir dispute according to the wishes of the Kashmiri people and paves the way for peace and human development in the subcontinent.
