Who Is Your Big Brother Amplified Favourite? Meet the 26 Housemates vying for the $200,000 Prize

Big Brother Amplified kicked off in Johannesburg, South Africa last night.
26 Housemates from countries across Sub-Saharan Africa converged to seize their opportunity to win the big prize.
Nigerian TV presenter, IK introduced the housemates – one by one they arrived on stage – some danced, some pouted and shared air kisses, few kept their cool.
The common denominator among the housemates this year seems to be youth and a flair for drama! Many of the housemates already have careers in the entertainment industry – Musicians, TV and radio presenters etc…
Busta Rhymes provided the opening night entertainment alongside a dance crew known as the Amplified Crew.
Nigeria is represented by two ladies – Radio presenter Vina and model Karen.
Karen’s claim to fame is her “boob job” which grabbed headlines a few years ago including a feature article in Genevieve Magazine.

There has already been some drama between the two Nigerian ladies! First up, Karen accused Vina of being “fake” because she does not speak pidgin English. Vina retorted by saying that she had not lived around people that speak in “that informal manner”.
Up next, they both share the same nickname “Black Barbie” and there is some contention over the nickname. Vina explained that “a friend of hers thought she was a spitting image of a black Barbie and she liked it” while Karen had argued that “for one to be a Barbie, they had to be part plastic and she had had some work done on her breasts”…

Should be an interesting 90 day journey….

Big Brother has already dropped a few bombshells including the fact that the current housemates are yet to be confirmed as “real” housemates. This week is their audition week and they will be given a series of tasks to complete and their behaviour will also be considered in selection.

Some people have been asking questions around the housemate country allocation. i.e
Why are there only 26 housemates in Big Brother Amplified?
Why do Angola and Mozambique only have one housemate while all the other participating countries have 2 housemates?
Why has Herminio been evicted from the show?
Here is M-Net’s response;
M-Net and Endemol would like to advise that it was always their intention to include two housemates from each of the participating countries in Big Brother Amplified. However, on Saturday April 30, a day before the series launch, a contestant from Angola and a contestant from Mozambique withdrew from the series for personal reasons.

M-Net respects their decision in this regard and wishes them well in their future endeavors. BIG BROTHER AMPLIFIED continues on DStv channel 198 until Sunday July 31.

Biography: Her favourite place in Namibia is Rehoboth because “it’s a nice party place”. Bernadina says that if she wins the game, she’ll give a share of the money to a lady who is establishing an organization that helps children improve their reading skills.

Biography: Bhoke says having being selected to be part of Big Brother Amplified is her greatest achievement so far. She says viewers should keep an eye on her because she is unpredictable, fun, will keep them guessing and she’s a great person to be around.

Biography: This adventurous daredevil loves Angelina Jolie, soup or stew, and throwing parties at her house. Confidence would love to turn out like her role model aunt who, she believes, is “sexy, strong and principled”. Whilst in the game, she will miss her son, and two dogs the most.

When he goes into the Big Brother house Danny admits the thing he will miss most is his freedom and friends.

Biography: Felicia is in a relationship and has a four year old child. Given the opportunity, Felicia would like to visit Japan right now to feel the impact of the Tsunami and offer support to victims of the recent natural disaster. She entered Big Brother Amplified to represent her country, to do her part in making her country proud and to change her life and the lives of many others.

Biography: Hanni is a 5th year Law student with a passion for Reggae. She says audiences should watch her on Big Brother because she is “honest, funny and interesting”.

Biography: The multi-lingual Jossy concedes his worst habit is cleaning and keeping everything in order. Though he entered Big Brother by accident, he will continue to surprise. The best advice he has ever received is: “Never envy those that are living a good life and rather learn from them to get there as well.”
