Guess who’s back!
We have had so much fun with BN Pick Your Fave this year…our last edition was a “Home vs. International” match which we totally loved. By the way, for us, home always wins!
For this edition, we are shifting the spotlight to Nigerian label, Meena.
The label which is headed by Uju Offiah is just a few months old yet has already made a huge splash. A-List Nigerian celebrities including Ini Edo and Genevieve Nnaji have been spotted in clothing by Meena.
This Meena jumpsuit has a distinctly 70s vibe; with its fitted style and flared bottoms, this is a piece for a confident woman with a smoking fit body.
Genevieve Nnaji rocked the blue version of the jumpsuit at the 2011 Future Awards in January 2011. While many had expected Gene to play it safe with a Little Black Dress, she surprised style watchers when she stepped unto the green carpet in this playfully sexy outfit. Silver accessories and a studded black clutch completed her look.
Yes, yes, it is a little bit unfair to compare models with “mere mortals”, after all, it is their job to look fabulous in everything they wear. Model, Oghogho totally “sold” the jumpsuit in the official Meena lookbook. We love how Oghogho’s hair was styled in a plaited updo. She kept the 70s vibe going with peep-toe platform sandals and accessorized with silver bangles.
Blogger/Lawyer, Adaku Ufere was the first person to rock this piece at an event. She attended the Koko Concert in December 2010 wearing the purple version of the jumpsuit. Adaku let her long wavy hair down and accessorized with an embellished cuff and silver rings. Her smoky eye makeup and pink pout complete this bold look.
Ini Edo was styled in Meena pieces for her WOW Magazine cover earlier this year. Ini remarked that her “absolute favourite” look from the shoot was the jumpsuit. Ini showed off her “new” svelte figure and kept the look simple to ensure that the jumpsuit was the focal point. Ini’s fringed hair was pulled back and she accessorized with diamond studs and her wedding/engagement bands.

The model rocked this jumpsuit and then Genny did justice to it. Followed by Adaku and finally;I thought Ini rocked it until I zoomed in. I think it was the hair that killed it; it looks oily.
Please, I need to ask a very important question. Why must you feature Genevieve in everything to do with fashion and anything else for that matter?..what? there are no more girls in Nigeria?..Lagos? what is it about her exactly please? in most of your “pick your Favourite”( If i’m not mistaking) she features and there seem to be this bias towards her that doesn’t sit very comfortably with me, because there are a thousand and one ladies in Nigeria that are doing a whale lot for the good of the Country, and are Fashion icons…Please don’t get boring by shoving one person continuously down our throat for sanity sake!!!!!!

Ini Edo rocked the jumpsuit.
The picture of Ini and teh model are both severely photoshopped! Plus they only wore the outfit to take a picture, compared to Genevieve an dAdaku that must have been “up and about” for a bit before the picture was taken. So I cant objectively compare the four pictures against each other.
Between Oghogho and Ini, I would say Oghogho, Ini looked very good but she definitely held her pose to hide her flaws.
Genevieve and Adaku both look quite stunning but Genevieve’s body is curvier yet much more toned than Adaku’s. Genevieve would definitely look better from behind.
Overall – Genevieve, I would say

The pants were made to hang loosely judging from the fashion era it represents, so I will definitely go for Genevieve. It also looks good full figured so Adaku would be my 2nd choice. The model is a model and looks fab but shouldn’t count. I don’t know why anyone would consider Ini at all. I can almost tell the shape of her underpants through the outfit..not to mention the visible stomach bulge. That’s a no!! no!! Your stomach had better be at back for you to rock this outfit. It’s good to point out these blunders so people know what’s good for their body type and what’s not.

anyhoo, the model shouldnt count…the thing was probably adjusted to fit her properly, after all she was trying to sell it! Also it was a photoshoot so that was probably the best pic in a bunch, which gives her an advantage over the others. Regarding the rest, Genny did more justice to the jumpsuit for a ‘paparazzi’ pic, but I think it looks better on Ini…Ini’s height does more justice to the flare in the pants, which are a focal element of the jumpsuit. Adaku should have worn something else…
I also will not acknowledge the model because she’s paid to sell the dress. I honestly think its Adaku

Ini and Adaoku does for me, atleast they’re the only ones wearing it with no too much left overs hanging about, the model did well, it’s her job, it does not look convincing on genny at all, not flattering her body in any way. Makes her legs look short.
