ARISE will invite this year’s intake of 77 designers to participate in its fashion extravaganza from Tuesday 6th to Sunday 11th March 2012. The event will end on the night of Sunday 11th March 2012 with the spectacular ARISE Magazine Fashion Awards where each designer will hope to secure a Golden Ticket to showcase their designs at the Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week 2012 this September.
Award-winning New York-based producer, Kevin Krier & Associates and celebrated UK-based Inca Productions have been appointed AMFW 2012 show producers.
ARISE Magazine founder Nduka Obaigbena says: “There has been a surge of interest from around the world including major UK and American brands this year, following our successful inaugural event last year, which is why we have decided to give even more designers an opportunity to participate. The world has recognised that Nigeria has much to offer in the way of vibrancy and extraordinary talent in abundance making it the cultural capital of Africa. Once more we are proud to be associated with nurturing new designers from the vast continent – and continuing our support of those who are more well-known in Nigeria and in the Diaspora.”

how do i attend the fashion show
Oh plzzzzz!!!. We are tired of seeing all these deigners from Nigeria. There r nt d only once, There are a lot of talented up n coming young designers n I’ve seen their designs, no doubt they’ve got talent. These ppl where there last year and they’re back again.#come on!!#. Likes of project runway, the winners n d paticipants are doing well for themselves n its due to d fact that they were given d chance to. My problem with Nigerians, we dnt encourage ourselves or gv ourselves the opportunity to b out there. Its alwys about the Influential ones n who they r connected with. No wonder we still running in 360.
I so agree with Fab 1986.. We need another medium to step up for upcoming designers in Nigeria or Africa as a whole. But then when a private establishment has the revenue. They have a right to pick who they want. I know so many upcoming designers that kept on sending emails and trying to get across to the Arise team. No response, because obviously they are going with people they already know. Wish them all the best Sha. If Fadan cannot step up to it’s responsibilities. Other private bodies, will help them. Issorai we go dye dia….
OMG! I can’t wait.
i cant wait to view the pictures.. i also wish that the arise team will give new and upcoming homebase designers the chance to showcase their work, even if its to exhibit in stalls and network with industry people coming. well good job to them and i know Bella Naija will be bringing Fab pics to us. http://www.maknisy.com.ng
Please are the tickets on sale? If they are, where can i get them?
Thats a long list of designers! Great job to those who put this together.

not on the list Prajje 1983 Haiti/USA
NICE!!! are tickets still available and where can we get them?. thanks
i dont agree wiv fab1986. there woulda been som factors that dese new designers dint meet up to. also, dey hav more list of designers dis yr, meanin dey added a few extra. alot of people capitalize on talent alone and forget the extras. how many new designer hav a look book? some dont even know wat a look book is. dont 4get dat dere r certain criteria dey hav to meet up to too. project runway is a reality show specifically for upcoming designers, so its not a good comparison. you cant see omawunmi or waje or dare goin to contest for project fame or ex beauty queens goin to contest for d next MBGN again. xoxo
Yes there was a set of criteria that these designers had to meet. Some of these designers did not meet the all the criteria set e.g. website – does everyone of these desgners have a website? or a point of sale other than their garage? It is clear that it is a matter of who you know, how good you can lobby or your PR is. Nigeria Fashion 360 – fashion for the elite designer.
