2012 Arise Magazine Fashion Week: Maki Oh

Maki Oh was a major star at the 2012 Arise Magazine Fashion Week. The talented young designer is still in her 20s but as they say “age aint nothing but a number” as she proved with her delightfully youthful yet absolutely refined collection.
The spark in this collection was the details – a snippet of lace here and a naughty cut-out there – demure hemlines, whimsical prints, beautiful muted colours – it was magical!
Congrats to Maki Oh on her Designer of the Year award. We’ll see her in New York for the Spring/Summer shows.

That looks like a wardrobe malfunction to me if you’re referring to the bare boob. That obviously wasn’t the “look” the designer was going for.
Abeg relax…it is SEXY…and anyway, it wasn’t intentional, if you look again you will see that that alighnment of the stripe on the shirt that was supposed to cover the nipple shifted a bit…make we hear word, Madam Saint.

Hi Cynthy, you’ll do well to do your research, the fish embellishment is sewn on with rafia, the splash print and fish motif is achieved using local tye and dye methods (thats always been how she makes her prints) how much more african can you get. Feel stupid yet?

Im so happy for this girl. I’ve loved every collection from the debut and this one shows how much she has matured as a designer and her training shows in the craft and cohesion of this collection. She will knock them dead in New York. All the best!
Err….ok. An ok collection, but most definitely NOT deserving of designer of the year award.
Maki Oh is like one of the best designers ! This collection has a story, great cuts, and tailoring, i love Maki Oh so much, and I’m so happy she’s presenting in New York! Good job !

I love me some maki oh but this collection didn’t do it for me. There were a few really nice pieces but most of them where a bit non-descript in comparison to her previous collections. I wish her the best for NYFW.

the collection seems somber but at least one can see its actually a collection and not random cuts, finnishes and fabrics and prettily lined up. love the adire lining and the bamboo pieces edging the lace bra top
@ hiiiiii- take it or leave it, dis hype is undeserved. I am fiery critical and dis didn’t wow me neither of me perch askin dis for someone. Color blocks are quite on point but it didn’t wow me and it damn random @ Pam- maybe British Pple. These prices are damn bland. Hate it or love it, I av passed my MSG nd it’s done it purpose ” stickin to the ryt place” ; ur brain.
