Today, Saturday December 1st is the World AIDS Day 2012 and in commemoration of the day, Health And Life Africa  (HALA) Healthy-living Initiative has collaborated with some Nigerian Celebrities – Dipp, IllBliss, Wana Udobang & Rexx Pincode to create awareness on the advancements that have been made in the fight against HIV/AIDS. They produced a video aimed at reducing the stigma attached to the disease and offer hope and encouragement to People living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA).

The theme for World AIDS Day for 2011 – 2015 is “Getting to Zero: Zero new HIV infections. Zero deaths from AIDS-related illness. Zero discrimination“. The advancement gained so far, even though not sufficient, gives hope for so much more that can be done. We are the generation that can make it happen and that makes this buzz-worthy!

Below is the script for the video:

Right now we live in a world where information is readily accessible. Everybody seems to be concerned about their Facebook Status, BBM Status, BUT WHAT IS, YOUR HIV STATUS? Visit the Counseling & Testing centre near you Today. HIV infection rates are highest among sex workers, homosexuals, and IV drug users. Use a condom and stay protected. Prevention of HIV/AIDS is as simple as ABC (Abstinence, Be faithful to 1 partner & Use a Condom).

BUT IF you are infected all hope is not lost; You can still live a full life by taking ARTs (Anti Retroviral Treatment). There is NOW a 96% chance of not transmitting HIV if you take ARTs right. You can also TOTALLY prevent Mother to child transmission of HIV.

WE can be strong even while living with HIV/AIDS and be a shining light for the next generation- Be compliant with your medications: Inspire The Hope For Gettting To Zero!
