Foluke Daramola & Kayode Salako Make their Marriage Legal After 4 Years of Living Together

Foluke-Daramola-Kayode Salako Wedding-1Actress Foluke Daramola and her partner Kayode Salako have been living together for the past four years, but today they’ve made their union legal!

They had their traditional wedding on her birthday – February 15 last year, and a year later – today, they are in court – at the Kosofe registry in Lagos – to make it official.

Punch interviewed the actress and she confirmed it. She also said she’s not pregnant, contrary to rumours.

“The reason we decided to go to the marriage registry today is because it aligns with the Valentine’s Day’s season and mood. Love is in the air and this is the perfect time to renew our love.

We did our traditional wedding on February 15, 2014 on the same day as my birthday. An atmosphere of love is around and we feel it is the perfect time to go to the registry and document our marriage properly.”

“We decided to go to the registry because we see it as a renewal of our love. Also, for documentation purpose, it is better we go to a marriage registry because traditional marriage is not really recognised and it does not have any certification to that effect. It is our own way of celebrating Valentine.

It took us four years to decide to go to the marriage registry because we felt it was necessary to have proper documentation. We are doing this to perfect our marriage. The number of years it took us to do this does not matter as the most important thing is that we are doing it.”

Congrats to them. BN, in her interview she said they did their trad 2014. So you should say they had their trad 2years ago, not last year. Except if the year was typed wrong in her interview….. You’re welcome.

Firstly, I find this headline rather insensitive and unnecessary “Make their marriage legal”. Who says their marriage was illegal or less legal in the first place?

FYI, In Nigeria, there are 2 recognized forms of marriages- .
    1. Marriage under the Act. (registry/church celebration).
2, Marriage under the custom. (trad wedding).
    They are both legal oo.

So if a man chooses to marry under the custom (i.e trad marriage), That in itself is legal.

Issues that arise in a marriage under the custom is governed by the peculiar customs and practices of the couple. #FamilyLaw101 #PleaseTakeNote #TradMarriageIsLegal
