ARISE L’Afrique-À-Porter: David Tlale
Drawing on architectural designs, lines and sculptures, South African Designer David Tlale presents a collection that is highly representative of his inspiration.
This 5 capsule collection features pieces which are bold and are made dramatic with voluminous shapes. We see classically tailored coats with wide bottoms combined with daring tulle fabric and carefully placed button details. These coats are paired with patterned tights (slightly similar to what we see in Jewel By Lisa) ornamented with sequins to give it some sparkle. I am looking forward to see if and how they might transcend beyond the mannequins.
Also, on display were dresses with sculptured and exaggerated shoulders as the designer meddles with textures, from sequins to shred details on the garments, to hanging strings, and patterned fabrics. The pieces in this collection are upscale and dressy, they can’t be incorporated into the regular routine of a day.
I adore the intricate details on the floor length dress, the embroidery detail is simply exquisite.

In my opinion, this is the best collection. After his marvelous collection in Joburg some weeks ago, I knew David would not let us down at this Paris presentation and I was right. Creative, cohesive and showstopping. He is totally the McQueen of Africa. Bravo.

David!!!!!!!! yes yes yes. Dis goes OFFFFFFFFFFFFF We are looking at a designer who put a lot of thought into structure and cuts, his work is obviously more technical than the other collections. The whole futuristic glam chic vibe gets me :o]
