So you know how we like to do things in Lagos, everything is accompanied with a huge party, done ‘the Lagos Way’ and the 2010 MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) nominees party was no different.

The  2010 MAMA Nominee party took place on the 30th of October 2010 at de Marquee in Victoria Island, Lagos. The lineup of stars that graced the event was seemingly endless – Don Jazzy, 2Face, Mo’Cheddah, D’Prince, Neato C, Darey Art Alade, Sasha, eLDee, Djinee, Sound Sultan graced the red carpet. As the purpose of the event was to unveil the list of nominees for the 2010 MAMAs, such a party wouldn’t be complete without performances from our favorite Nigerian Artistes; With celebrated DJ, Jimmy Jatt on deck, 2Face brought the house down with his performance of ‘Implication’ and ‘Only Me ‘ while Naeto C and Sasha’s collaborative performance put back the ‘S’ in Storm. Nigeria’s new musical star Mo’Cheddah also performed some of the hits from her new album, ‘The Franchise Celebrity’.

The main awards ceremony take place on Saturday 11 December 2010 at the Eko Expo Centre, Lagos, Nigeria. According to our sources, planning and preparation for the awards are already in full effect and we have a lot to be excited about; high profile performances, and exciting collaborations to mention a few. Who can forget Wyclef and Akon’s ‘revealing’ performance at last year’s MAMAs or D’Banj and Kelly Rowland’s onstage duet at the 2008 event? We were talking about it for weeks!  BN will be bringing you all the highlights from this year’s MAMAs too!

We are so proud of our Nigerian artists, receiving 13 nominations is no mean feat and only goes to show how far Nigerian music has come. However, while some guests at the event noted that some of their favourite musicians were conspicuously missing from the list; others felt that the list was spot on. What do you think? Check out the full list of MAMA 2010 nominees – HERE

We wish all the nominees the best of luck!

What’s up with Miss Nigeria’s shoes. What is that? Some people need to step up their shoe game honestly.

I was wondering why that Funmi chick’s top looked familiar. Good to know some Nigerians aren’t hooked on the by force straight off the NY fashion week or Naija designers runway craze.

  20. The Villager

    November 1, 2010 at 10:50 pm

Nicole is looking so beautiful but what is with the ‘kolonbi’ leg bending?na new style of posing be dat?please practise your poses in front of a mirror or better still take some pictures with your phone,so as to know the pose that suits you best.
Sound Sultan-HEY!!!THANK GOD!the guy dress correct today.u nor see as you fine?please hold on to the person that told you to come out with this combination
IT’S DON JAZZY AGAIN!!!FILE!DON’T TOUCH HIM OR HIS STYLE!the guy has created a style and an identity for himself and HE ROCKS!Just imagine Don Jazzy in a Tee Shirt and Skinny Jeans…ohooooo, okay u sef think am,u nor go like am na
Eldee the Don…A don that doesn’t know the appropriate clothes to DON to events.SKINNY JEANS ARE NOT MEANT FOR FAT PEOPLE!he is always fond of trying to wear Skinny Jeans because they are in vogue, and they end up looking like a pair of ill fitting leggings on him.His dressing didn’t surprise me sha….but the guy sabi him music thing.Kanye west Ko,Dabiri South-west ni.
Darey’i must be USHER RAYMOND’ Art Alade….correct guy.
    Mo’Cheddah-Kekere diva toh fine gan
FAB-dis is just a PRE-AWARD PARTY and not the AWARDS CEREMONY itself.please save that look for December 11Th
Dayo Ephraim -Looking fine as usual.
Olisa Adibua….Ah Ah,what is this you are wearing?u be like who dem send go buy suya in the evening for junction.if all your clothes dey with dry cleaners, you nor go rest for house?na force to come party?I BEG,dump the cigar and the clothes you are wearing with it-FAST!
All the babes came correct wearing what they can really ‘boogie down’ in and most guys did too.the classical T shirt and Jeans combination never fails when you are ready to hit a party and THIS WAS A PARTY AND NOT A RED CARPET EVENT so make una leave D’Prince o

@fifi…. [email protected] your comment bout ELdee… common now, he is in the future so let him be. He reminds me of star trek. If he likes it, he likes it.

They all looked fab and some not soo fab. I wish nicole would stop wearing flats all the time. Its nice for one of those in house shopping events but not to an evening party. I used to like Ikechukwu but these days, he just looks sick, like he needs to eat a lil more or sleep a lil more.

  44. Ms. Jayee

    November 2, 2010 at 9:47 am

I believe there were more thumb ups than thumb downs. A lot of them looked good. Maybe some missed it at the choice of shoes or hair weaves or something as lil’ as their poses! (ok dts not lil’) …but in all i believe they churned out nice. And Ms. Jayee’s 10/10 female award goes tooooo (drum roll)…….Noni K and Cynthia Mbanefo (it’s a tie actually) guess i’m tired of black lol!!!

These are the kind of comments that really annoy me!
Goodness, women- we are so nasty to each other. Do you see comments like these written about men by other men? Unless I’m wrong isn’t this young girl 19 years old, she can’t yet be as sophisticated as some of you for God’s sake! Why don’t we focus on what she will achieve during her reign, and if she will have a scandal-free reign and more important things like that?

    • Kerrie

      November 2, 2010 at 11:33 am

Oh Miss Nigeria..well, I’ve seen nicer pictures of her, frankly I think she’s very pretty, but isn’t it also about brains & beauty (the competition)? There should be some balance! Apparently she’s smart!
Nicole doesn’t have rubber legs! She’s soooo cool!

Nice event! I really did miss out! I have noticed something about you guys here…You take pleasure in condemning peoples effort at looking good…If some of you got a quarter of the invitations these celebrities get…You might have to take loans to look half as good…I did get an invite to this event and the dress code read….ELEGANT! So a couple got the brief and interpreted it well: Sasha, Mo, Don Jazzy, FAB, eLDee and a handful. I have never seen t-shirts and jeans as being elegant but then in all, it looks like it was a great event1

Gosh! you guys are just incorrigible. Miss Nigeria is apparently new on the social radar so i suggest her manager should get her to look the part. She needs a whole lot of work! from her wardrobe to the way she even strikes a pose! She should be elegant, graceful and all that queenly shizzle. She could borrow a leaf from Omowunmi Akinnifesi

    * Eldee’s jacket ROCKS!!! but he soooo needs to stay away from those red eye shades abeg. They make him look like a toy soldier.
    * Cynthia Mbanefo: Love your entire ensemble, the husby accessory inclusive 😉
    * Why does Ikechukwu always look hungry to me???
    * Sasha looks great to me! I’m not sure what some on you are going on about.
    * FAMILUSI is the man of the day! Loving the look totally!
    * Now the darling Linda Ikeji needs to end this her ‘black outfit awareness campaign’. And those slippers are not working Ms.Pretty. You are so lucky I still think you rock regardless.
    * BEST DRESSED FEMALE: Ene Maya Lawani!
    * Don Jazzy just oooozes confidence! Love it. Infact he has my permission to wear this particular red outfit to the next 12 events he attends with the promise to dryclean it after every 3 events. It’s what’s inside that counts abeg.
    * How old is Mo’Cheddah?

Miss Nigeria- trust me gurl, if you wore those shoes for the miss nigeria contest, trust me, you wouldnt have won. And who cares if shes 19 or 12, as long as she is in the limelight wearing shoes like that, she gets my criticism.
love sasha, and mos cheddahs outfit, 2 cute…Eldee needs to get him a different kind of shades, he be looking like robocop

who cares if she is 19 years old?
Did i send her on an errand when she went to contest?
Did i win a car with her?
Is she forced to attend these events and pose for pics?
she should go and do what 19 year olds are doing.
you and i know she will not achieve anything during her reign.
these pageants are over rated and useless.
They are just stepping stones to careers in modelling, acting and singing.
They will not eradicate world hunger or find the cure to HIV.
Don’t be so gullible to believe otherwise.

chei!!! See as dem finish eLDee….but himself – up….why he go dress like this….he should learn from game changers like russell simmons & jay z. graduate with the game and all. Invest in a stylist…might be expensive, but won’t be as expensive a blunder as he has made right here….So many things i wish i could type out but i will contain it. someone needs to Cc him on twitter or something so that he can have a re-think on things…..

Best looks: Noni K, Nicole Chukweke, and Cvon in that order. Nicole is quite close but I think she overdid the accessories a bit. Great outfit nonetheless and this might just be because of everybody else’s dressing!! Noni wins because of the simplicity. She just looks sophisticated yet fresh! Funmi St. Matthews….what r u…???? Everyone else…hmmm…ahhhh…my mumsie say I shourrnt say badh things if I cannot be nice!

Yo eLDee, when you go to the movies to watch a film in 3D, you are suppose to return those shades after the movie, for recycling. Not a fashion accessory.

Please y’all leave Damilola ms. nigeria alone o…let her act like 19 year olds do before our comments pressure her into aristoing etc to look fierce on red carpet. she is still a kid. She looks innocnet and we don’t want **clear throat** aunty nike to start, finding small small conract for her so her wardrobe can be eye catching…biko leave the small girl to grow and mature at her own pace. thanks ladies…Dami, you look lovely jare. that’s how 19 year olds should look. I am 29 and with all the right designer shoes and bag in my closet. i earned them though, with hard work…a BSc and two MS degrees. i didn;t even look as fierce as you do now, when i was 19. keep your head up girl and stay in shcool. there is more to live than appearing at all random events trying to look pretty. I know you are smart so i beg you in the name of God…stay focused and dont be distracted by the insatiable need to wear Prada, Hermes at 19, especially if you know you cna’t afford it yet. Yoruba people talk say “ko si ojo ti a da so, ti a ri’le fi wo”. There is no day that you buy your beautiful Dior sandals that you will wear it and people won’t still check you out. Wait for your time honey

Miss Nigeria – only needed earrings
Nicole’s dress was too tight which is y i fink she cldnt spot the right posture
sasha – change ur wardrobe, those tight fitting dresses do nt accentuate ur “FULL” figure anymore
Linda Ikeji – wat was she finking wearing those slippers/sandals? absolutely unflattering
    kel – ????????

i hardly write any comment<, heard noticed everyone commending Lami's dress, to be sincere i was not impressed, one her interview in True Love magazine sounded like she was a strong christian, with strong values, to think she is married with a child, is so sad. is she divorced? why will you go out half naked, you started out in church, from your interview, all of a sudden your new video, you were almost naked too, you strike me like you are fighting to fit in, i love your music, the one with M.I, please you can be fly, sexy in a subtle way, people are watching, youths are looking up to you. no beef at all, i am a super beautiful lady. just represent God, the way he will be proud of you, most entertainment people in Nigeria, feel we must go naked to get attention, or look fly. you have been married for 13yrs. so act like a decent lady that i feel and know you are. i pray you read this comment, i am sure what happens is once you are in the limelight, you have very few people, who say the truth to you, cos they love you and don't want to hurt you. this is for all of us, our body is not for show, but for respect. sometimes i get tempted i hold myself back, cos i will obviously give the wrong message, mostly when you are fine in this part of the world.

Lami dress decent, you are married and you have a girl, and you claimed you are a strong christian and started from the church, i respect your style of music, mostly the one with M.I , even in your new video, your boobs almost fell out, or are you divorced? maybe back to singlehood? even if you are single, please the youths are watching. Muna get a good Bra, Kel, dress the way you want to be addressed, you are obviously not the last and the first Rapper in Africa, except you have signed out for stupid men, who won’t respect you, yeah, you look like i don’t care kind of person, my dear you need to care, cos one day your innocent kids might pay, no one wants an irresponsible inlaw. see Cythia, she dresses sexy and subtle, no much skin out. women who love to go naked often times, have serious complex or seek for stupid notice. you heard?

Who dares to insult Mo’ Cheddah?, the girl is cool and i love the style, she is a very friendly person so have heard, you so called critics ready to diminish peoples status because you lack one, you r provoking i tell u, its such a shame because while you are busy pondering and probing for words in the dictionary to hit her where it hurts she is busy making the money, wait……do u really think she reads this comments when she has a list full of events every day, if u wanna speak the truth; speak based on what the person offers and not what you think she should from ur own view, because we don’t care, the dress code was nice, you beg for uniqueness badly and she brought that to you now you wanna criticize her, ok.. that means its cool to say you are a fool. Come on guys lets set the bars high. She mustn’t wear a long gown or sorts alike before she is called a woman and we guys look for uniqueness and not the superficial because we know you r artificial trying to feel so hot when we both know you are not. Don’t try me oh!!!!!!, because i can keep going on when it comes to defending such a girl.
