It’s quite simple really. People had their dreams stifled, and were made to conform. And now, they can follow their dreams! 🙂

I think the chains represent being trapped or tied down to a profession you do not enjoy. Don’t get what the song has got to do with being omo naija though :-/

It’s just saying even as an OMO NAIJA, you can still reach your dreams. Singing is her passion and she is doing it regardless of the NAIJA stereotype.

sorry to say this, but the lyrics r so pointless.what does following your dreams have to do with “omo naija”.I hate songs that sound so formed

      February 6, 2011 at 1:52 am

@Yuo – its amazing to see the how much love you display….please dont pour your hate on her dream…she is stepping out on water!!..and she is NIGERIAN!!

    • Olu

      February 6, 2011 at 1:54 am

LOL…I cant even take this comment serious…obviously she must look better in it than you would. I respect the fact that she’s being herself instead of creating a commerical look

I agree with yall. The OMO NAIJA NI MI looks like an after thot. Not sure it blends with the song drama. Lyrics have to blend with the song. Her vice is not so tight … i dont know why BN thinks she “stands out”

wow, u haters. take it easy naw. she’s a fyne gal, wit a fyn smile but i think d message shez tryin 2 convey is simple ‘as a naija citizen, she will follow her dreams’ though she doesn’t stand out as BN put it…………

its not body magic ppl its a corset, if u look closely the lace design is all d way round, while on body magic, it stops in front.
Also, she is creating her own uniqueness with the way she is dressed, you dont have to wear lace or Brazilian wig, or dress ladylike to fit in.
its a beautiful song, luv it.

i love the video and i think her singing voice is very strong. the song is really cool too, even her Mr Aristo song is different and unique. i see nothing wrong in her dressing and she is definitely not wearing body magic. for me i think the song is very artistic and you need to be smart to get it.

    • Tomi

      February 3, 2011 at 8:48 am

You have to be smart to get it??? How smart can does one need to be. If you really want to be successful in anything you ‘ve got to KISS -Keep it simple ssss…. The sad truth is that the fans make you. Fans like your music …. even if it really doesnt make sense and you,ve made it. The video concept/vision in itself is ok but just not with the lyrics. She should think the whole song/video thru next time…..

    • Shakiandponmo

      February 3, 2011 at 3:21 pm

Exactly what they song is talking about..She doesn’t have to conform to anybody’s rule of what normal is.You dont have to keep it simple to succeed. This is how people try to tell people how to live their lives!!Look at Lagy Gaga who is the rave of the moment with her craziness.Be yourself, do what you are comfortable with. What works for Mrs A, may not work for Mr.B…..THAT IS WHAT THE SONG IS SAYING BUT SOME OF YOU JUST DONT GET IT!You only criticize and refuse to see the good in anything. One thing Bella Naija has done, is to open my eyes to how unsupportive and mean Naija girls can be.It is sickening-for real.

I believe this is the moment for naija to give them the support back home. mtv should allow them to perform and other entertainment outfits in niger. this people from the dispora are helping to add power to the fire that is already burning in the nija entertainment industry.

I think she has an amazing voice dont get me wrong. But this song is a bit dry.The lyrics are safe and cheesy. It sounds composed in one sitting. You need to listen to powerful lyrics

  26. El Bee

    February 3, 2011 at 5:45 am

People just like to hate sha. Nothing wrong with being different na wa!
I prefer “Mr. Aristo” but nice job on this too.

I don’t see anything wrong with the song/video, except for what she’s wearing. more grease to your elbowz girl!

She’s got a great voice.I really love the song

  30. deun

    February 3, 2011 at 10:58 pm

I am not a hater o.before you all chew me up. this girl has a nice voice. but let us face facts, are these lyrics that powerful. what does “omo naija” have to do with following your dreams. She should not have used that chorus. Does not make any sense. “come alittle bit closer you will see”. still makes no sense. Great voice though. Nigerians are always happy to accept mediocrity. so I am not suprised at why certain people are called haters

  31. deun

    February 3, 2011 at 11:01 pm

I have to agree about the lyrics being weak topic. I love my nigerian artists but let us face facts, alot of them have poor lyrics and this is one of them. she should listen to people like Asa and Nneka to learn how to write. I am sure she wrote the song herself. Not a bad try. The message was conveyed about not being able to follow her dreams. But she lost me with the poor chorus

  32. lamiday

    February 5, 2011 at 1:28 am

you people no fit hia confam music? Moyeen I love you dieeeeeee

  33. Chukwudi

    February 6, 2011 at 5:36 am

its so amazing how people are quick to hate and promote discouragement when in reality they are insecure to fight for their dream instead of belittle someone else…MOYEEN is making a path for her dream and she is NIGERIAN for those who are confused….if you can understand the lyrics then maybe its not for you, if you dont like what she is wearing thats because she wears it better than you and lets be honest here, the best you can do is ridicule on BN because you have nothing better to do…STAY TO TO Yourself!!!! ..”just come a little closer…”

    • na wa o

      February 7, 2011 at 2:19 am

na wa o. It’s not by force to like body magic and wack lyrics pleeasse. Does she not want us to buy her songs?? Are we not the consumers? Fighting against consumers is a lost battle. The chick is wearing body magic and her lyrics are wack. End of story. She should try harder next time. what is wrong with that. If you are going to put yourself out there you had better develop thick skin. if she brings out good music, we will commend her. if she brings out bad music or music with bad dressing, we will criticize. that’s the way life goes.

  34. arakunrin

    February 6, 2011 at 5:57 pm

Only thing magic about this is the body of work. Haters must always come inside to mess with the fruits of people’s hard labor instead of doing like the song says. Stop hating here on BN and go and Follow Your Dreams! Great vid and Great Song #thatisall!

You people are acting like you haven’t heard Mr. Aristo and like you haven’t seen moyeen all over the internet….does she look like someone who can’t write lyrics and who wears body magic?….i saw her perform in Gidi…she is awesome!…Can’t wait till she steps it up with the Aristo video though!
