2012 Arise Magazine Fashion Week: Iconic Invanity

Nancy Nwadire of Iconic Invanity does no wrong with her unique mesh of African prints and fine craftsmanship. Her collection reminded us of the beauty encompassed within exotic African fabrics. Additionally, her pieces adorned one of a kind embellishments that certify them timeless, attractive and beyond the ordinary. Enjoy!

Somebody help me shout hallelujah! Yes this is a collection, yes this is cohesive, and yes this is very refreshing to eye too – and very very wearable! There are too many pieces i would love wearing myself but the first one gets my heart beating very fast! What a lovely dress that is!!!

Jewel By Lisa knock offs! Yes I said it

    • non professional opinion

      March 14, 2012 at 4:29 pm

With the exception of the beading there are very few similarities to Jewel by Lisa. The aesthetic is more ornate and more “mature”. Jbl’s pieces are younger and flirtier. Jbl was the first designer to make beaded ankara contemporary, but she didnt invent it regardless of what her pr tries to convince people.
Aside from that Im in love with dress 8

@non professional opinion – you are quite right, I used to make and sell beaded Ankara tops and wrappers as far back as 1994.

@omobolanle HALEEEEEELUUUUUUUYAH (there you go 🙂 ) and @non professional opinion, God bless you guys for your analysis of I.V’s work. Like N.P.O pointed out, though JBL gave ankara a modern twist, she did not invent beaded ankara despite her hype. Anyway, good luck to all of the designers that showcased.

Love this collection, My favorite from Fashion Week. The only similarities btw Iconic Invanity and JBL is they are both feminine and the embellishment …..since Chloe and Stella McCartney can co exist without people saying one is copying the other then i see no reason why both designers cannot have similar aesthetics but execute differently … FASHION IS RECYCLED…SHOW ME ONE DESIGNER AND I WOULD SHOW YOU ONE WHO EXISTED BEFORE HIM….I truly truly love this collection and would like to see more of this designer. 10/10 shikena!!!!

@Dee i so agree, these photos do no justice. this collection was amazing on the runway I wish I had brought my glasses lol adore jbl with a passion but they are not the only1s permitted to bead smh nor did they invent it smh again and i prefer jbl’s cuts but this bead work is on another level and jus doesnt compare. How many beading grls do u have a 1000? lol i only wish they wud invest in more quality ankara, theres nothing more annoying than cin the okada man wearing the same fabric as u!!! u have my vote xxx
