Nigeria’s Yakubu Adesokan Clinches the Gold Medal in Powerlifting at the London Paralympics 2012
The Nigerian team has done us proud at the London 2012 Paralympics has clinched the gold medal in the powerlifting competition on the first day of the games. 33 year old Yakubu Adesokan set the new world record by lifting 178kg of weights at the men’s 48kg Men’s powerlifting.
We, at BellaNaija, say congratulations to Yakubu and we wish the rest of the team more success as the games go on.

God bless u sir! how ironic is it that the nigerian olympians with two legs, hands and fully functioning brains brought back nothing but those stupid shades they were wearing on that parade “night” smh our Superhumans are reppin is well jorr! Goodluck jona better acknowledge them properly and celebrate them when they bring more medals back to the motherland because i trust they will! go team Nigeria!!!!

This is exactly right!!! God bless the super humans that are already breaking world records and bringing home gold medals. THIS SHOULD BE A LESSON, stop the stupid stigmatisation that comes with disabilities. EVERY PERSON IS EQUAL, these athletes that are performing at the paralympics have already achieved greatness. A WORLD RECORD means Yakubu is the best in the world, this is the quality we have in NIGERIA. Goodluck should use this as a lesson and put through potential athletes based on TALENT instead of based on the fact their parents or relatives have money to bribe them into the team, total RORBISH!!!
WELL DONE YAKUBU, May your God be the beginning of many more.

shows society’s description of the physically challenged as DISABLED is completely flawed.
