Emerging Nigerian Menswear Label McMeka Couture presents its 2012 Campaign

The Nigerian fashion industry keeps evolving and a new crop of young fashion entrepreneurs are keen to do things their way.
A few years ago, you would have to look for a “needle in a haystack” to find a Nigerian man in fitted trousers or a neon coloured blazer.
Things have changed and this new generation of stylistos is not afraid to be adventurous with fashion.

McMeka Couture, a Lagos-based design label is targeted towards the aforementioned fashion adventurer. Check out their 2012 campaign photos below.

What can I say other than the fact that this young designers outfits and his choice of colours are some thing out of this world for us guys… They are awesome ’cause he brings something fresh and new to the table, not just the neat tailoring, nor the styling, but something different from the predominant black, white, gray blazers we are mostly used to… Simply Exquisite stuff…..

Being born and raised in America with a desire and love for London, you would assume that fashion was not only enstilled , but I would not be amazed. However , these bold outfits and colors mixed with perfectly tailored trousers and a dash of personality pleasantly surprise my palette. Leaving me wanting more. I have instantaneously falling in extreme Lust with these designs and the designer(s) ; leaving me breathless and craving more. Splendid art love. 🙂

  • nike September 17, 2012 at 11:17 am

I am not really a fan of colour blocking cos of the abuse it has received 4m lagosians.. some pple wee block colours it wee almost giv u colour blindness. but dere’s something about these ones that makes it really nice. Not too shinny and china-looking..lol
Kudos to the designer, photographer nd even the models.
The stylist, DivaHaze creations did a fantastic job putting the pieces together. No matter how nice an outfit is, how u put them together is wht givs u d final finish.

  • T.M Lucia September 17, 2012 at 11:27 am

I absolutely love, love, love this collection. The colour scheme is so quaint and there is this delicate beauty to the way the models were able to pull it off. Every guy needs to have a piece or more of any of these in their wardrobe.
    Great job.

  • ayetoro kan September 17, 2012 at 11:31 am

tailoring and attention to details, perfecto! innovation…zero! most of the designs arwe copied even down to the styling! the orange jacket on green shorts ,the blue and whitet double breasted number, creativity and innovation is so key as fashion itself is cuthroat business. color blocking trend should please just fade out real quick!

  • orlando September 17, 2012 at 11:34 am

    well put together….nice one Mcmeka!

  • T.M. Lucia September 17, 2012 at 11:34 am

  • ayetoro kan September 17, 2012 at 11:41 am

@akin…vintage ke? omg,get urself acquainted with ur fashion vocabs my dear!and what is fresh bout this? rotfl,if hes ur friend, just famz and say u know him but writing whackitie-wack is so not permitted.he put in alot of effort no doubt and the finishing is amazing but i still stand by my words saying innovation for this campaign is a ZERO…with no apologies! Designers should please find out the meaning of couture before adding it to their labels

  • Verb September 17, 2012 at 12:09 pm

DivaHazeCreations would def style me anytime I have a photoshoot again..no doubt, Plus D’Mayo is a solid photographer.

Nice work mcmeka really loving the designs and kudos to frankie who was the stylist “DIVAHAZE CREATIONS” on a job well done and to the man behind the lens mr d’mayo well done bruv…love y’all to bits

  • sir.k September 17, 2012 at 4:05 pm

this guy is obviously talented, while they’ll always be a few misses here and there, its great to see someone who is young and motivated carve a niche for himself in the fashion world and its kool to read all the positive comments, ok bck to the outfits, the pieces are all kool and nice, i could def see me rocking some of them, but i can’t say am a fan of the models, in my own opinion i feel the clothes will shine out more with beta models, cos no matter ow great the outfits are or how good the photographer is, its the model who sells the outfit, they r suppose to create dis illusion with their expressions, you are model, work the clothes and the camera dnt just stand there and frown, ur not on a runway….kudos to the designer and heres hoping he’s next campaign wld be far beta and innovative.

  • Ayotunde Twitch September 17, 2012 at 4:21 pm

This is amazing!!!! i love the colours.

  • toromo September 17, 2012 at 4:34 pm

Oh wow! Very nice and to think its nigerian.. Job well done.

  • Sam September 17, 2012 at 5:21 pm

There is nothing nice or spectacular about this, any good tailor can do this, and if you are wowed by the color blocking, you should praise the stylist instead. This is what you see everyday, everywhere with everyone.

  • Mistur Okosun September 17, 2012 at 7:51 pm

ur clothes a fantastic.i cant wait 2 put them on..please book me for ur next look book k.. Great colour combo…nice one mcmeka

  • speaking of which September 17, 2012 at 7:59 pm

  • DivaHave Creations September 17, 2012 at 8:03 pm

McMeka is a brilliant designer.. His designs are so clean and neat, it makes you want to have your very own McMeka original. It was fun and easy to work with him and the models. Fashion is not all about how crazy your designs are.. Its about creating comfort, beauty and bringing out the DIVA in you.. No matter who you are, where you are from or what you look like; wearing something that makes you LOOK GOOD AND FEEL GOOD is what Fashion is about and what, we (DivaHaze Creations) are about. Thanks for all the support. God bless y’all..

  • DivaHave Creations September 17, 2012 at 8:08 pm

Almost forgot to say a Big Thank you to D’Mayo.. He is definately a wonderful, creative and outstanding photographer.. Looking forward to making many more creations together.. Watch out for McMeka, DivaHaze Creations and D’Mayo Photography.. You haven’t seen the last of us… 🙂

beautiful and elegant combination of designs. Keep up the good work.

  • gracie September 17, 2012 at 9:13 pm

Tihihihi the guy in the blue pants! Too tight oh!

  • Oyin September 17, 2012 at 9:30 pm

I’m not feeling the color blocking or just too many color. I feel like it’s more for younger guys. I like my man to look grown, classy and mature. But, excellent tailoring.

  • Chic Haven September 17, 2012 at 11:26 pm

Nice Collection… Love love the fit!

  • ife September 18, 2012 at 12:33 am

Ds had better be for d runways alone. D dressx isnt practical.which dude wl go out dressx like ds on a normal day? Ibegiiiiii

  • Omooba September 18, 2012 at 2:26 am

Not to take away from the designer, he’s obviously talented but these are not cutting-edge fashion. Go to Zara, H&M, this is all you see. I’d love to see something different from the designer.

  • @miss_she_du September 18, 2012 at 9:50 am

we shd strt appreciating our own @ d lady that said it looks forced. great designs, awesome color selection and awesome foto grapher cos if d pictures were not properly taken, we wld nt c d beauty of d cloths. cheers

  • N.J September 18, 2012 at 11:16 am

Well, for someone that is emerging, he’s doing a good job. Throw in some few years, he’ll definitely carve a niche for himself.

  • Chuka September 18, 2012 at 3:38 pm

This is a new trend… This guy is pushing it real good.

  • Berry Choco-Latte September 18, 2012 at 6:26 pm

after all, job well done mcmeka. Applause!! n plx ppl, dont kip goinon bout wantn to see something ‘new’ all the time, the designer didn tell you he’s created avant garde designs, besides go througj the fashion weeks, and fashion through the years, it all revolves, with stuff borrowed here and there…

  • Just me September 18, 2012 at 9:23 pm

Nice.. Me likey. I just love me a man who can dress his butt off. Btw, aren’t some of these guys too fat to be models?? :/ Just an observation…

  • Ceejay September 19, 2012 at 12:17 am

yup!!! He’s my designer and am proud of his designs…. wouldnt u rather wear Mcmeka??? Dont just drop a comment, place ur order guys….Safe

  • darkhorse September 19, 2012 at 2:38 am

That is how life is. Call a spade a spade and not a farming instrument. Are the designs nice? Yes, but not the overly over the top raves its getting of all places Bellanaija . This is to show how fickle and shallow humans are. He is the rave of the moment and everyone is on the gravy bandwagon. When next an event comes up and some dudes are sporting these outfit, I hope those who are crying more than the bereaved on this ratings will applaud this designer! Lets give constructive criticisms where applicable and not the insults often spewed out.

  • her royalmajesty September 19, 2012 at 3:30 pm

loving the colors and the perfect finishing

  • dow September 19, 2012 at 7:37 pm

  • Tumi September 20, 2012 at 2:16 pm

Smart, casual, fun and lively…there’s something for everyone, any occassion and to suit any mood. Great creativity & boldness to play with colours. I respect the quality of craftsmanship which can stand at par with fashion houses worldwide. Great stuff once again.
