BN Pick Your Fave: Oluchi Orlandi & Sharon Stone in Roberto Cavalli
Yay! We love this edition of BN Pick Your Fave. BellaNaija fashionistas get your Coco Chanel-esque style shades ready!
Today Nigerian supermodel Oluchi Orlandi and American actress Sharon Stone battle for your favourite in an embellished cobalt blue Roberto Cavalli gown. The piece from the Italian design label which is every girl’s dream frock features a plunging neckline and a very sexy back!
Ready to choose? See how Oluchi and Sharon wore it!
Oluchi Orlandi
Our very own supermodel Oluchi Orlandi gave this look its red (blue) carpet debut at the Cirque du Soleil’s “One Night for One Drop” event at Hyde Nightlub, Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on Friday 22nd March 2013.
The event which also saw Britney Spears, Kyle Richards, Coco Austin and Pamela Anderson in attendance was organised to raise awareness and funds for water-related issues.
Oluchi who was recently announced as the host of Africa’s Next Top Model opted for a sheer detail to cover the dress’ plunging neckline. She styled the dress with a deep grey snake-and-lion head sparkly bracelet and silver heels.
She finished her look with wavy locks and bright pink lipstick.
Sharon Stone
The 66th edition of the Cannes Film Festival has seen many A-list stars dazzle on the red carpet in gorgeous pieces, since it kicked off on Wednesday 15th May 2013.
On Monday 21st May 2013, Hollywood icon Sharon Stone attended the “Behind The Candelabra” Cannes Film Festival premiere at Palais des Festivals in the same cobalt blue Roberto Cavalli gown. While Oluchi’s dress preserved her modesty with a black transparent panel, 55 year old Sharon went for the full plunge!
The Basic Instinct star styled her embellished stunner with diamond-and-emerald drop earrings and matching neck piece, a navy crocodile skin Salvatore Ferragamo clutch and silver pumps.
Her sun beach blonde locks, smokey eyes and light pink lipstick completed her look.

I agree.
The colour and her body shape did not help her, it looks better on Sharon Stone.

I think it looks great on her skin tone. The quality & lighting of both pictures are different. I prefer the dress on Sharon Stone. I love the way she styled her real hair too. The curls are soft. She’s 55 years old and still looks this hot!
I will like to see Oluchi wear more Nigerian brands. We have some talented designers at home.

Nigerian brands are grossly over priced.
I personally would rather spend my money on a Cavali or the likes where I know I’m getting my money’s worth than spend it on a Nigerian brand only know in Nigeria.

So you wear brands by foreigners because non-Nigerians know them? I’m soooo impressed. Could this be one of the reasons why Mercy Aigbe would rather buy those fake Birkin, Celine, LV, and Fendi bags when she can simply buy some good designer bags that people don’t really know about and stand out with class. I rather spend a good amount of money on talented Nigerian designers like JBL, Deola Sagoe, Maki Oh etc and some good up and coming ones and stand out as an individual. I don’t care what others know. I support Nigerians before foreigners. I know these particular Nigerian designers I have mentioned are not these Nigerian tailors who call themselves designers these days. Their clothes are made in Nigeria and not in an Asian factory with millions of poor people working in hard conditions for $3 a day. And then they sell their stuff for thousands of dollars to us, the odes. But do we care? we just want to feel among and wear what we see on that midget, Kim Kardashian.

See my black peeps. Obviously, according to you guys, the fairer the better!! The 2 dresses being compared are not entirely the same. I am not an expert on women clothing or clothing in general but I can clearly see that Sharon Stone’s dress has more flair ( if that is what it is called ) or wider at the bottom and has a train or so like a wedding dress. So, just that alone may have helped the looks on the fairer lady + her bigger body frame.
There are videos on the internet of babies’ different reactions to people according to their complexion and you lot seem to always confirm that here.
I have been following such comparisons on this website and most of the time, the light skinned person wins. We need to see beyond the skin. In Igbo we say, Onye ajuru aju, a d’aju onwe ya!

You are an original “odensin”, if comprehension is your problem, biko don’t display your ignorance. In simple language (and I hope you get it this time), we are saying that the colour of the dress is better suited for Sharon Stone’s skin tone. Nobody is saying that dark-coloured skin is bad, it is just that this dress suits the fairer person. Inugo?

I clicked this intending to see Oluchi squash Sharon but Sharon took this one.
The cleaves look quite elegant on Sharon but risque on Oluchi even with the mesh :/
Its great on both, I just like Sharon’s better.

Sharon Sharon Sharon! Sharon totally knocks Oluchi down here, she even looks more youthful. Maybe the dress colour is somehow washing out Oluchi making her look dry and not fresh!

as much as i prefer oluchi’s more conservative approach to the dress Sharon Stone has the shape e for it and the neck piece and hair styling gave it more oomph.

I think red would’ve looked better on Oluchi. Sharon is shorter so the dress looks longer and more regal on Sharon. Her accessories are also more on point that Oluchi’s. Both are beautiful women but some dress shapes and colors may look better on one and not so fab on the other. It aint about hating Oluchi. In another dress and color, Oluchi would look better. This was not just the dress.

I’m sorry was the purpose of this “who wore it better” just to show us that Oluchi wore the same kind of dress that Sharon Stone wore? cos Sharon Stone CLEARLY rocked it 100% better. it was probably tailor made for Sharon sef. mtcheeeeew

@bunmi u don”t need to be so abusive by calling someone a midget. the topic is not even about her so why the beef. You’ve already stated ur own opinion so let it end there. Nobody is perfect even you inclusive. Anyways Sharon stone rocked the dress with her curves and skin color. Sorry Oluchi.

i hope this thread has not closed
i’ll really like to drop my observation
Oluchi Oluchi pls take care of your skin
sometimes your attire may be expensive but when ur skin is too dry, it’ll look shabby on you
i have noticed you on red carpets, you always turn out in expensive, expensive dresses but your body just does not agree wt them, it may not make sense to you but the tone of ur skin brings out the beauty of clothes on you – ask your designers
