Brymo tweets about “Chocolate City Exit”! Investigation reveals valid contract still in place

Last night, the news broke via Hip Hop World Magazine that talented musician Brymo had left leading Nigerian record label Chocolate City. Today, the man behind such hits as “Omoge Campus”, “Ara”, “Good Morning” and Ice Prince‘s “Oleku” tweeted this

Seems pretty conclusive? Not quite. Investigations reveal that Brymo still has a valid contract with Chocolate City which at this time has not been nullified.

A source at Chocolate City reveals that relevant parties are still in talks on the matter.

Just a few months ago, it seemed as though Wizkid had said “bye bye” to EME and today, they are back together. You never know what might happen.

Keep refreshing BN for updates on this.

i was just about to say the exact same damn thing……can u imagine a kid like brymo, he should b on the same level with wizkid or even higher , yet u keep seeing the other subpar artist from the same label getting all this promotion and u wonder what must be going on in there…..i say good for him, bc if am way on this outside n i could see that, then they definitely should know they did not do a good job with him…..i feel bad for this dude bc he is so so talented…..hope he gets it good in the future….

Eva left Storm, where is she? Jesse left Choc Ciy, Where is he? This artist don’t know what they benefit from being on a reputable platform. Even the soooo talented Wizkid left EME and returned. Olamide, D’prince and Brymo all dropped albums at the same period last year. They all didnt do so well but with an appropriate and strategis follow-up and cordial relationship with press people, OAP’s and fellow industry mates, Olamide and D’Prince have been able to gain grounds again.

Brymo likes to feel like a Young Fela (Rebel) and we have seen the likes of Eedris AbdulKareem and Blackface thread that path. Where are they now?

If the content of your albums is music that appeals to party people and the ladies, why is it that all you talk about is bad leadership on twitter. I think it is not about his Label. He is simply misplaced. And its all in the name of feeling “DEEP”. I feel sorry for his career.

Abegi! Brymo is known in the industry to be very rude and big headed. I heard he left because Chocolate City suspended his project because he was very difficult to work with and he refused to remove the weed he had on his instagram page. All these people that leave, what happens to them?! They die off! I love Brymo but the guy get in own wahala abeg

Which naija artist no dey smoke weed? So besides the weed he must have other issues. If so,then how hard have his record company gone to correct or address those issues?

He cant just up and leave when he has a contract he hasnt fulfilled yet. when he still has 2 albums to drop unless the label decides to drop him. I heard he said he didnt eevn want an album launch. What kind of artist doesnt want publicity for his album? Abeg he should park well and think before acting.
Who is saying his album promo was bad? some radio dude said he had ditched so many interviews, and even paid shows because he just wasnt in d mood. And he is supposed make a name for himself? Brymo dont PORT go Holly “wood” (carpenter style) smh

Tuface left Kennis Music, Wizkid left EME, Dbanj parted
ways with Don Jazzy,.so why cant Brymo leave Choc City.
You people should forward your questions to Audu Maikori.

brymo this is just not the right time to leave. i believe he should be wise enuf to discuss it with the choc city before humiliating the label in public with that twitter post. i tink someone needs to start acting like an educated adult. BRYMO U MESSED UP.

This guy needs a good management and leadership. He has a talent but not he is not talented if you know what I mean. I sort of agree to an extent with both Majid and Annod about their comments on him. You project what you sell and represent and not the opposite. Hope the situation could be turnaround and he gets back to doing what he does best. Also somebody should tell him to stop sagging his pant, it’s very childish when you see a grown up Ass guy doing that.

    • Idak

      May 28, 2013 at 5:05 pm

will you also send the same memo to Ice prince? I mean the sagging memo.

abeg say smefin else, this guy as been behaving smeaw since jawe, now i see the reason y his omoge campus no blow.a label can survived without an artist, it hard for an artist to survive witout a label.

      May 28, 2013 at 2:46 pm

Not true…. A very hard working artist with knowledge of the music industry can survive without a label especially in the Nigerian/African market if he/she has funds or the ability to hustle for it and the right Marketing and P.R team…

    • madam Y

      May 28, 2013 at 6:33 pm

Key issue…funds. How many talented artists in Nigeria acyually have the funds to push themselves? The ones with the funds are the not so talented ones. Plus marketing and PR in nigeria is usually handled by the record label as well, and we’ve already covered the funds issue. That’s why every Nigerian musician has their own record label, even the ones with 1 artist signed on too!

    May 28, 2013 at 2:26 pm

Hmmmmm, I smell the likes of Audu Maikori and MI using this platform to voice their opinions on this issue. KK o! That being said, using the western world as an example, most stars at some point, find their own paths when successful and become unbearable to work it. Just with the likes of Rihanna, Late Amy wine house,G unit crew. Most of them actually. But, the only thing that binds them together is the contract. You are not to break that under any circumstance or risk being sued. But then again, this is naija anything goes. Sad…

      May 28, 2013 at 4:34 pm

Hmmm! I smell an element of Brymo in this comment too. You know clearly that anything goes in Naija. Truly sad!!!
