Nkiru Anumudu in Dolce & Gabbana – Genevieve Magazine & Veuve Clicquot’s “Fashion & Style Day Out” in Lagos

Nkiru Anumudu in Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2013 - BellaNaija Style - January 2014 - BellaNaija

You can always trust Nkiru Anumudu to deliver one of the best looks at any event.

Nkiru who is one of Lagos’ best dressed women, was present at the Genevieve Magazine & Veuve ClicquotFashion & Style Day Out” during the 2014 President’s Cup at the Lagos Polo Club, Ikoyi, Lagos.

She looked regal in a black Dolce & Gabbana dress from the Italian label’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection.

Her lace and sheer number with bold sleeves and knee length hem, was styled with an Avant-garde straw hat, drop earrings, gold rings for each of her right fingers, a diamond cocktail ring on her left finger and a selection of bracelets.

For the final accessory, Nkiru chose a pair of embellished wedge heels by Dolce & Gabbana from that same collection.

Dear Bellanaija. why the fake flattery? does Madam Nkiru have a wardrobe/ wardrobe budget that one will envy yes. But to say she is best dressed is far….. from reality. #Justsaying

    • Gogirl January 21, 2014 at 6:35 am

I have known Nkiru for sooo many years in terms of her
fashion and style and this has been as far back as when Lekki was
still Makoko. Lol. I was a fashion crazy teen . Late 90s. I once
read that Nkiru was one of the priviledged few to get a private
viewing of a Gucci collection bf it hit the runways of Europe. On a
      private yatch in Italy. #respect.

      • tish January 21, 2014 at 9:03 am

How does that affect the price of fish in Ajah market? Mcheewwww..I have better aspirations abeg no be private viewing dey do me.

AMEN! To me it’s like the emperors new clothes. Everyone is saying it looks great when that’s not what they see. I think she’s a perfect example of how style is not in the clothes because she always has the latest and hottest items…but something about the way she puts them together, in my opinion, doesn’t make me say o wow. There are some gifted ladies (not me) that can get a bunch of stuff from primark and make it look more stylish.

I think its fair if we give her the title she deserves…she really is best dressed Abeg and for her age she is just good at doing fashion justice. She has lost some weight too…

    • Wuelsebutabby???!!! January 21, 2014 at 10:09 am

Money can buy fashion but not style!

  • Non professional opinion January 20, 2014 at 10:24 pm

I like Nkiru’s style and fearlessness but I feel like you (bellanaija) single her out for extra praise because she never wears local designers. Sometimes her outfit is just nice but she gets coverage because it’s “THIS SEASONS Stella McCartney”.

  • Amh January 20, 2014 at 10:27 pm

She is the best dressed socialite in Nigeria. Hands down.

  • http://www.thelmathinks.blogspot.com/ January 20, 2014 at 10:56 pm

I always have and always will love Nkiru Anumudu. That woman is fierce! Hands down best dressed society woman in Nigeria! She’s very consistent and never disappoints.

  • NYstyle January 21, 2014 at 12:19 am

She does nothing for a living but take the living to earn the living..if you understand poetry. The word of God said do not envy the wicked when they seem to flourish in the their ways. Rubbish to envy!

  • Nestradamus January 21, 2014 at 12:21 am

  • Hi January 21, 2014 at 3:12 am

I think her outfits are very busy. I don’t know her personally, I guess she has a great personality for Lagos people to like her. I have only liked one outfit of her’s, the Igbo wrapper oufit – she kept it simple in that area.

  • maria January 21, 2014 at 3:34 am

i kind of get what she is going for edgy, weird and sophisticated but it is just not working but A for effort

  • Ndidi January 21, 2014 at 6:35 am

She is the best dressed ! Point blank period Many 50 year
old Nigerian woman will look cray wearing what she pulls off on a
regular. Her fashion is bold and confident.

  • MOI MOI January 21, 2014 at 7:35 am

please please and please..just because she is in the latest styles doesn’t mean she is the most stylish just means she is a SLAVE to big brand names even though they do not suit her. she needs to get a stylist with all her money.!! Haba, you cant buy taste o!!! not hating just saying, you aint no spring chicken so stop dressing like one!!!! i would first get rid of the blonde hair or just do a shorter classic look, it would take years off honey!

  • C*Witty January 21, 2014 at 8:12 am

  • Aibee January 21, 2014 at 8:48 am

Would that dress stand out or be remarkable in any way if it wasn’t Dolce & Gabbana?

Now those shoes are the ish!

  • Ewa January 21, 2014 at 8:51 am

Stepping out of the box fashion wise, i give it to her.. She’s edgy and fearless when it comes to what she puts on. But best dressed? I don’t think so. IMHO, been best dressed goes beyond what you are wearing, how expensive it is, and if it’s the latest in fashion. It’s the totality to HOW all what you are wearing comes together. How it fits, how it flatters, how put together it is. She hasn’t done that for me. She wears extraordinary things, but they never gel.

    • tish January 21, 2014 at 9:05 am

AH! Just as I thought everyone had lost their commonsense, someone comes to dispel that myth!

      • Gogirl January 21, 2014 at 12:25 pm

@btw….Salmon or Shiny ??? Pls choose your level of fish at Ajah market.

Nkiru, when are you going to do a wardrobe sale of the things you’ve “gently” used. Couture too can be recycled, abi?

  • Mariaah January 21, 2014 at 10:17 am

OMG!! Nkiru slays forever and ever when it comes to high-fashion in Nigeria!! The good thing is she isn’t just some wanna be who buys fake.. Forget the extravagance for a second, dwell on the fact that she’s wearing D&G, latest collection oo. OkBye!

  • MOM January 21, 2014 at 11:44 am

exactly , bella naija i agree to that about bringing her out and showing off her collections , dat will draw more respect to her.she is doing fashion justice. just wat i dont like about her is the plastic surgery on d face.

  • mimzzzzzzzzzz January 21, 2014 at 2:35 pm

Aunty Nkiru, one of the Nigerian socialites with the best physique for her age. dunno if u’ve ever considered changing ur hairstyle? please do consider it, cos this ur signature hair is getting old, you really need to try out something new, it would be refreshing to see some good make up on ur face.

  • mis Official January 21, 2014 at 3:54 pm

Question: What the hell is wrong with her face?

  • me January 21, 2014 at 7:46 pm

does she have daughters? kai! imagine inheriting that wardrobe

i think she should patronize naija designers sha

  • ik January 22, 2014 at 3:37 am

Abeg….name brands doesn’t not equate to “e go fit you”….she has the name but not the taste…….

  • Sid January 22, 2014 at 11:42 am

Nkiru, a fashion icon? best dressed? hummmm. A tour of her closet would give you the most exalted names in fashion on a shocking scale: Salvatore Ferragamo, YSL, Stella McCartney, Manolo Blanik, Lanvin, Celine, Zagliani, Maison Martin Margiela… We can go on. Nkiru is known to have a one-on-one relationship with the leading French and Italian designers in the world, in the late ’90s and early 2000s she became the unofficial face of Italian luxury fashion brand Fendi. She was known to attend Fendi’s private viewings in luxury yachts on the plush Italian coast line. Who would forget the Coco Chanel suit she wore to the last Thisday Awards teamed up with those Christian Dior wedge soles that looked like she was standing on a confederation of Egyptian goddesses. Indeed those were one of her very few style hits as eight out of ten, Nkiru has so much highlights in her entirety that she ends up looking like a Christmas tree. From time immemorial her fashion faux pas has been legendary. If not too racked up obscenely in outrageously expensive designers for a casual function, she wears clownish hats that not only surpass the comic creation Princess Beatrice wore to the English royal wedding last year but also make her look like a Scottish clown. With Nkiru Anumudus style, most fashionistas keep buttressing the fact that you do not need all the super luxurious French and Italian accessories to get it right. For with all her 5-star shopping spree across the globe Mrs Anumudu would never make it to the best-dressed list were she to be living in countries like the UK and the US where the style editors are known to be ferociously ruthless. In fact the 19 editors-in-chief of the Vogue magazine brand always argue: ‘It’s not who you wear but how you wear it’. When in comparison to other big girls who wear trendy high street labels like Dorothy Perkins, Miss Selfridges and Topshop, Mrs Anumudu pales into the masquerade category. Event after event she would have been arrested by the ever enthusiastic fashion police. But if her fashion sense is questionable, then her makeup is said to be a point of reference for all the wrong reasons. The unusual finishing of her rainbow coloured up and her various hair colour up reminds me of those drag queens in Soho New York.

  • Sed January 22, 2014 at 9:37 pm

    Juanita dear,
I may be Sad but I have eyes for details and I can tell u that Nkiru does not cut the list, we, not on the best list. Effort yes, but she just does not nail it for me. Take it or leave it. least I forget, I have a life and am living it. As at the last time I checked, it had fashion journalism attached to it. And girl does it make me happy? yes. But thanks for the pele. I have a feeling you tell yourself pele each day that It has become part of your vocabulary.

sometimes she does’nt dress age appropiate. I look at the
age of the models she is copying However she dresses well

  • Retta February 1, 2014 at 1:09 pm

I have a problem with her hair and whatever foundation she applies. Hair always so rough & messy, foundation is always too much, make up for her age shouldn’t be so heavy. she needs to get it right. Lupita should be her style icon. the simpler the beta, doesn’t mata how much u wear (nobody cares really, & wen dey do, its cuz dey want d same thing), please be easy on the eyes…
