Barren Land is from Omosexy’s yet to be released second album – Me, Myself & Eyes. The song is being used by Amnesty International for their campaigns.

Although the “Last Flight to Abuja” actress often sings about love and life, her music can also be classified as inspirational music.

Funny thing is this is actually a great song in itself. Give it to a Waje or someone else and they would have done it justice. What a waste of a good song.

Omotola I’m a huge fan, but the song would have been better as instrumental (no vocals). Does she not have people around her to tell her she cannot sing, and needs to stick to acting. Love you omosexy:)

Hahahahaha! It’s not about Genevieve. The song no follow. She should have gotten Cobhams to do the song for her. He’s a terrific producer especially for inspirational music or TY Bello’s Moussa(producer I think) .I don’t even live in Lagos and I know all these things, lol

  24. kmt

    January 20, 2014 at 8:49 pm

hold up…what does this have to do with Genevieve or Igbo people… sigh

  25. aha

    January 20, 2014 at 9:02 pm

You just had to bring Genevieve in here someway didn’t you? First of all.. learn to spell correctly if you must spit such venom, you tribalistic turd.

Now that we’re done with that.. I’ll address your points:
    1. Omotola is not, was not, and will NEVER be a threat to Genevieve. Genevieve is effortless and people love her domestically and internationally without her having to grapple for recognition. She is the MOST recognized face in Nollywood till date and omotola can’t handle it, hence her vicious but unspoken competition and grab for that kind of recognition. Deny it all you want but you know it’s true.

    2. I won’t even give you the satisfaction of responding the aso rock allegations, but I will tell you this.. Genevieve Nnaji will always have more respect and class than you ever will even at the peak of your life. I tell you that, and you can take it to the bank.

    3. Omotola started before Genevieve in the movie industry so your story about how omotola was offered a lead role from the beginning would have been juicier if Genny were already in the industry when it happened. And isn’t it a shame that Genny started as a waka pass but took over the industry eventually? In fact she knocked omotola out of her position. If she were so good she never would have lost a role to Genevieve but she has.. countless times. Did you know that she also gets offered roles Genny rejects? Lead role my foot. And reputable movie producers produce movies with Genny first before they produce movies with omotola. Actions speak louder than words. It’s not about hype, those who know, know. You seem to speak as if starting out as waka pass is a terrible thing. I’ll give you other examples of people who started as waka pass in their different fields: Barack Obama – I bet you knew nothing about him in let’s say 2006/7 but he is the PRESIDENT of the United States today and arguably the most powerful person in the world. When Beyonce started off in D.C did u know her name? Today she’s the #1 in d industry and your omot is trying soo very hard to be like her.. right down to her dressing style, its such a shame. Oprah started out as a behind the scene intern, then to news caster before she made it big. Before Oprah there was Barbara Walters but who’s considered greater today? Educate yourself mami. And for someone who dislikes Genny so hard its very interesting that you keep a good tab on her history in the industry. You just hate her for ousting omotola from her supposed throne when she arrived nollywood don’t you? It must really hurt. Unfortunately you must BOW to Genny. Deal with it.

    4. This song is crap. Nobody is saying she is not a good actress but a singer she is not. Tell her the truth and stop living in denial. She will soon become the butt of jokes. have yourself a nice day.

  26. whocares

    January 20, 2014 at 9:02 pm

Kileleyi tori Olorun.. tani mose? Yes the Yoruba has come out in full force! The beat is fantastic bet I wish she sold the song to someone else to do justice to it.. and to think this is the song being used by amnesty? So this is the song that was inspired by activism? I can even talk anymore..This auto tune tie ti je ki ori mi daru die.. let me go and eat and regain my sanity biko.

  27. Mzlyrics

    January 20, 2014 at 9:03 pm

Ha hannnn.. This hate is totally unnecessary now. No one mentioned Genny here na. Haba!!! And this is not about acting. This is about this song which if you take time to listen to would know that ‘o ku die kato’

  28. truth

    January 20, 2014 at 9:04 pm

But God people are very funny. What is wrong with this song and why all the hate for Omotola. The song is nice and I enjoyed listening to it.

  29. idoublecrossmyheart

    January 20, 2014 at 9:06 pm

wow……why did you turn it into an ethnic thing. I have read through the comments and there was no reference to her ethnic group. You have issues….

  30. Sharpie

    January 20, 2014 at 9:07 pm

For some reason I think this is omotola herself. Why get frustrated because ppl tell you d truth? You cannot sing. end of. Slow it down with your delusions of grandeur. that you think you have to leave a legacy doesnt mean u should expect it to be handed to you on a platter because you’ve been in the industry. you have to work for it and this is not the way to go.

  31. Mama Mia!!!

    January 20, 2014 at 9:25 pm

Calm down babe, what’s with the tribalistic statement. No one is talking movies here, we are talking music. Can you honestly say Omosexy did justice to this song? Abi, you need Simon Cowell to spell it out for you…

  32. nene

    January 20, 2014 at 9:28 pm

so now she releases an “activism” song because of her “passion for africa” (i think she just released it because she misyarned in that CNN interview..when we all know she never sang anything for AFRICA)after many years of killing us with her horrible voice. i watched her reality show and when she was singing, she was almost crying just because she was trying to hit a note, and she almost choked and had to cough. word of advice to her and all nollywood actresses/actors: stick to acting and perfect your craft, and if u must sing, biko get a coach.

    • Lizzie

      January 20, 2014 at 10:17 pm

this song has been out for a year or more… BN should have done their homework better. Amnesty International used it for their campaign last year.

Please stick with acting….throw music away!!!!

  35. nene

    January 20, 2014 at 9:37 pm

nne/nna biko odiro that serious. it’s not that serious. i am igbo and i prefer omotola to genevieve anyday because she’s hardworking, industrious, a better actress, and doesn’t just rely on free handouts or luck like genevieve who is extremely lazy (it was adim williams who mad her popular by givin her the role of sharon stone, she could not pass many auditions, even till date) and nonchalant (clothing line:zero, go back to school:zero, go to acting school:zero, educate yourself and support a cause:zero, etc) but i doubt this is an ethnic thing. omotola is rude and bossy, and most people don’t like that about her, and i call genevieve “slow poison”, she’s as stubborn as omotola but she won’t talk or react, but she will “do” you secretly while maintaining her innocent face, which deceives people.

    • Bossom

      January 20, 2014 at 10:12 pm

I see you, little miss perfect. Genevieve does charity work but unlike omotola she doesn’t make it public. When has being uneducated ever stopped a passionate or talented person from succeeding in their crafts? How successful is omotola herself that went to school? How is genevieve lazy or lucky? She worked hard to get to where she is today and because she’s not in our faces every day doesn’t mean she is lazy. Laid back is what she is not lazy. She auditioned for her first movie role and got it so what do u mean she couldn’t pass an audition? She was even in ripples from a tender age so there’s no denying her talent. Stop trying to pull the girl down any chance u get, or better still, get in the industry and be a holy angel n tell us how far u get. Or u think u can make it to the top by being nice? Learner.

    • ILoveGenevieve

      January 21, 2014 at 12:20 am

Thanks Bossom for standing up for the super talented Genevieve Nnaji and her fans. However, nene brains are off ….threat her like you would a cow or maybe a goat.

    • Bukky

      January 21, 2014 at 9:31 am

Wow, but everyone knows you are the goat. How can you call someone whose actually more intelligent than you a cow and goat? Do you not have a dictionary at home? Check the meanings on google dear , it’s your name written all over it.
@ Blossom you ask how successful omotola that went to school is? Hahahaha… You either are Ilovegenevieve or you’re from thesame DUMB genes!

Hmm ENEMIES…. This song is not only nice it is very sensible! Compared to all the crap we hear this days. Omotola if you reading this stick to your style . You know what works for you , ignore most of this bandwagon people who say things because someone else said it. Amnesty international is using this song but these loosers want to judge it. Pshewwww
And to the busy body who brought genny in here. I ADOREEEEEE OMOTOLA and I’m Igbo! You shouldn’t have, not necessary at all. OMOTOLA IS STILL IN A CLASS OF HER OWN. Period!

@Omot pass una you are absolutely pathetic! This post is about Omotola not Genevieve, and guess what? I am Igbo, I absolutely love Omotola and guess what? SHE CAN’T SING! So on BellaNaija now you can use the “P” word and the “F” word, but we cannot talk about why rape jokes are wrong and we cannot say the truth about women who sleep with married men and their useless husbands. I like the knew vibe just make sure it goes for all.

Some of us still love education and have morals(especially in area of jumping from bed-bed) you know. If that doesn’t mean anything to you, pray your children end up like that, they might not be as lucky as our dear Genny. Its apalling how people easily rule out education these days.We know you can be more successful without one,but really would you have survived without one.As for OmoT,biko music is not your calling.
