It has happened folks, Dencia has become a pop culture phenomenon.

The Cameroonian pop star has been invited by the Oprah Winfrey Network – OWN for an interview on a new documentary titled – Light Girls.

According to an e-mail which made its way online, the doc is inspired by a film by Bill Duke titled Dark Girls. The documentary sparked a lot of conversation on colourism and self-esteem healing.

As  Dencia’s product “Whitenicious” has made headlines around the world, it is no surprise that she was chosen.

I DONT SUPPORT DENCIA, but she is an African…hope they don’t do what they do [bring one African and treat her like she represents EVERYONE in Africa… then disgrace her on behalf of ALL OF US]!!!

My dear, you have just taken the words out of my mouth. Out of this entire Africa continent. Abeg they must make sure to include that the views expressed by this woman be hers sef and not of all Africans. Highly disappointed but lets see what she go say.

embarassing is an understatement (she disgust me makes me wanna vomit) and by the way trust its not going to be some long interview, Oprah knows not to waste her time like that. Its going to be some 2 mins clip – trust. ITs a whole documentary on Light Skin, she is just one of the useless skin bleaching people they are going to question for 2 mins. This should be no bragging rights. I am waiting for Oprah to interview real intelligent talented people like Chimamanda Adichie one day. I wonder if she has ever reviewed any of her books

Firstly Oprah/team cannot even spell Dencia name right that shows how seriously they take her . Secondly This might not be good exposure for Dencia , i hav a feeling she will be ridiculed and painted negatively …….There is no way Oprah will do a documentary promoting light skinned got through bleaching , Americans will backlash on Oprah for self hate.

    • That’s exactly what will happen. She just doesn’t know it yet.

Also you better believe they have done a research on the so called product to know the contents if the product actually does exist. And God help her if any of the ingredients does not match what is claimed on the bottle and there are people that already bought the products. I’m sure they also know how much she has sold and all. And what will happen at the end of the tax period and Uncle Sam does not get his cut of the $1 million she claims she has made? With this type of fame and exposure comes a lot of responsibility. After Oprah, you better believe that TMZ and Smoking Gun will dig through every miscellaneous activity in her past, they are already doing it to Lupita trying to find something. This should be good and BN and LIB can defintely take credit for this her “success”, because no one in Cameron seems to give a damn about her.

Please bellanaija stop making it seem like she’s doing one to one with Oprah because she isn’t. They are only using her for a documentary and am sure the documentary includes other lots of people. And it ain’t like she’s on the documentary for good reasons. Btw I thought she said whitenicious wasn’t a bleaching cream? So why is doing the interview because it obviously based on colour

Its one thing to be interviewed by Oprah cause of your achievements, but in this case, it’s more of making Dencia a ridicule tbh. ‘Light girls’? Seriously? So much shade. Dencia should bow her head in shame and respectfully decline to save herself a lifetime of embarrassment.

I think this dencia bashing is getting ridiculous..My dear dark skinned sisters if lupita’s colour is your thing and your naturally very dark skinned, Good for you, If you like her skin tone but your skin tone is caramel-like..please feel free to lie under the lagos or abuja mid-day sun between the hours of 11am and 3pm to get the skin tone you desire (please note that abuja sun may probably be more effective). On the other hand if you want much lighter skin please feel free to buy whitenicious or a whole lot of other skin lightening brands available…In a nutshell people please stop taking paracetamol for other people’s headache..skin colour like hair colour is a personal choice…

I am unable 2 deduce what is funnier?dencia”s utter idiocy in thinking this invitation is a badge of honour to be displayed on her bbm dp for the world 2 see that she has ‘arrived’ or her delusional fans who are embarassingly proclaiming “she has hammered” or ‘haters can die’.rotflmfao!!!dear dencia, Her Royal Highness oprah will treat u like d joke that u r.guess wat?I am not suprised, u get to represent the most successful distillation of my generation’s aspiration for rewarded mediocrity, vapidity, and narcissism. Cheers,Africa! If this is what “hammering” entails den congratulations dear!lol!

    • AA

For me it is definitely her fans who think she has hammered. They are the funniest. We even have one up there telling haters to jabo…LMAO!!!! Little do they know that their queen is about to be torn a new one by Oprah and be thoroughly destroyed.

You want to bleach? Who cares? It’s a case of personal preference. Think you’re too short? why not stick to the height God gave you and stop wearing those hoof-like heels!

  29. Sira

    March 11, 2014 at 3:29 pm

So I’m light-skinned (got my skin colour from a jar), Have relaxed hair (but I wear 28 inch blonde Brazilian weaves most of the time), love gay people (though I’m not gay) and I love Toke Makinwa. Does it mean I’m not African like the rest of you dark skinned, natural hair wearing, gay bashing and Toke hating b**ches? So make I run comot for Nigeria because na una dey more African than me abi? yeye. O btw, Dencia don’t fall for it, Oprah and co will ridicule the sh*t out of you.

    • stupidityslayer

      March 11, 2014 at 7:48 pm

I love gay people and I like Toke Makinwa, but I think bleaching is as bad as smoking. I hope you don’t attack smokers too cause that would be hypocritical of you.

    • AA

      March 11, 2014 at 10:50 pm

B**ches though…why would you use such an ugly word for people who disagree with you? People disagree with me all the time and I love it cause I learn new things. In life many people will disagree with you, they may be right, they may be wrong c’est la vie!

The interview will just ridicule her not empower her. They will def point out the fact that bleaching sends a wrong message to our young girls. They will question her sanity and self esteem. Make she go come. I dey here dey wait for the firestorm.

    March 11, 2014 at 3:57 pm

    March 11, 2014 at 5:20 pm

Im kind of disappointed in Oprah sha because even if she disgraces IT , she would have given her more publicity. It is clear that IT has no shame so she will definitely ride this opportunity to the max. Men all i know and care about is that she is NOT Nigerian. I just wish that the Nigerianblogs wwould stop acknowledging her. She claimed Nigerian to get ahead. So now that she is getting International recognition, Nigerian blogs should leave her out of our affairs.

    • FREE ADVICE

      March 20, 2014 at 8:34 am

Seriously, so you are biting because she is going to get more publicity, so all this bad belle is because of the popularity Dencia is aquiring. I dont know her but I think u guys have expressed enough hate for someone who’s being herself and honestly defending her product which is being brought down on an international stage. You dont talk negatively about a product so directly on a world stage. I bet you an American will sue for this. Its not fair. I acknowledge Lupita’s acheivement but that statement was uncalled for. To think we all know where the highest bleachers come from, should all creams be removed from the market, 80% of you will stop showing their faces in public trust me. If you have a product in the market, will allow negative pub even in private. Just because Oprah has called her for an interview, stomachs are aching, suddenly all wishes are that she will disgrace herself bec she is not from your country, what a shame. For the records Oprah does not run people down, if u r on her show u go public no matter the outcome and i know howmany of u want this publicity so stop hating, be yourself and improve on what u’ve got, stars can come from anywhere nomatter the population. ITS FREE ADVICE!

    • SHOW TIME

      March 20, 2014 at 8:59 am

So if she was Nigerian u shd have hailed her abi. I smell too much jealousy in the air. Please dont disgrace Nigerians, at least she has produced cream that will help many Nigerian stars. I bet you will not pass when u see the product. Lets stop hating, the best stars hardly come from Nigeria, we get popular easily bec of our numbers, lets give others a chance. Wish Dencia well and let her make the best out of this opportunity, Hating is not the best option.

Even though I’m a believer “liberty and pursuit of happiness” , I fear this move by Oprah. I really want to want to tell Dencia to drop this offer like its hot, but Dencia being as daring as she is probably won’t heed. I can bet my pinky finger, Dencia won’t turn this down. She will definitely be more than prepared to defend her product like she’s done in the past. In this light, my dear Dencia, I advice you to get professional coaching before you go face to face with Oprah on any interview. Secondly, stand your ground and state your points as firmly as possible without being rude to Oprah. Do not act like anything she says is getting to you, even if it is. Please, please be polite. If you are rude to Oprah yawa go gas for your market. Above all it is IMPERATIVE for you to get professional coaching before this interview. I can’t stress that enough. #goodluck #ilovemyblackskin #ireallydontcareifublackcaucasianorwhitefromajar #weareallone #freedomofchoice

Love or hate Dencia or Danica all you want she no send anybody and with that attitude she has gained recognition and one million dollars in sales (allegedly). Bleaching like other things people see as sorta deviant like prostitution for example have been really successful in staying around for a long time because there is an obvious demand. I’m not a supporter of her product, in fact I’m a chocolate skin dreadlocks wearing chick, however people’s decision to change their skin color should not give people sleepless night. Haba, people are jumping on the Internet calling this woman all sorts of name for what? If people who bleach go out and buy these types of product with a full knowledge of the negative effect and use them who are we to make them fell stupid. People make all sorts of life changing decisions that they have to deal with for reasons a lot of us don’t need to know because we don’t live in their skin, we don’t know what informed their decision. But as naija people it is our place to tell people what they should do with their own body. Like seriously if it’s not an underage person in your family or your neighborhood that is bleaching their skin don’t judge or make them feel inferior because looking like Lupitais now the in thing. It just reminds me of when I use to be made fun of constantly for my dada. Disagree with her, disagree with people who bleach their skin in general, but don’t sit in judgment of other people’s decisions and stop with the name calling.

My own issue with Dencia is the terrible business woman she she is for the following reasons

    She ships merchandise without invoices

She the product has no labels. My order came in a bottle marked with a black market – s for small

Then she put one CVS types sticker at the bottom of the bottle with her face on it

Here is the one that pissed me off pass , the container was half empty. Barely 2 fl oz of product for $50. Now this is thee spot treatment o so in a matter of 6 days product had finished and my spots got darker .

This heifer charged me $30 for shopping and it aAnt even priority mail. No tracking no delivery confirmation .

Her website is so unprofessionally made’ a 7th grader would have been flunked if they used that as a school project

Her customer service, or lack thereof is a shame. I support real hustlers but then a fraud like Denciaa will be reported to authorities and that’s already underway .

Fast forward 3 weeks later she has increased all her prices by almost 40% . I mean and you tell this chic is a business woman? Nah, this is crook and trust me when I say this is America where Internet fraud masked as online retail are monitored quite frequently .

I’m not mad that she want to run a business hey people sell all sorts on the internet . But disguising as a business owner when you Are clearly a fraud is why she is going down.

You are ranting here on Bella Dencia will be laughing all the way to the bank. Anybody on Oprah be it good or bad gets huge publicity even if its is a mention so long as it has come from Oprah’s mouth. That is how powerful a woman she is. This year Grammy no one knew Dencia’s name some thought she wasNiki Minaj, mark my words next year she will be on Redcarpet for Grammys and Joan Rivers will comment on how ridicoulous her outfit is. There is no such thing as bad publicity, Kim Kardashian became famous on the back of a sex tape.
