Oh, please! Don’t be trying to start something. There are a lot of Igbo men dating and married to dark skinned and brown women.

I can’t help but have to agree with you to some extent on this one. I think at first choice, most, but not all, Igbo men, especially the older ones, would select a light skin woman over a dark one if all things were equal.

    • I agree

Yes, it does seem like most Igbo men prefer light-skinned girls. When you go markets in naija, you hear the igbo traders screaming ‘my colour’ to any light-skinned girl that passes by.
I think this ‘preference’ stems from the fact that a huge precentage of Nigeria’s light-skinned population seem to be Igbo. Infact growing up in Nigeria, a light-skinned person is assumed igbo until proven otherwise…………I’ve always wondered why, there’s this story of portugese coming to igboland years before the british came and leaving behind some biracial children.

I heared fulanis are also light-skinned, but that could be explained from their interactions with the arabs.
Whatever it is, perceptions are changing. All shades of color are beautiful, and to each man his own.

I disagree. I have a fair and a dark skin brother that are both igbo. Both date women of different shades. infact both have darker skinned girlfriends. so i disagree, also a lot of igbo men i know date all shades. That generalisasion is ridiculous. its not always about the colour of our skin.

Congrats! Of course Igbo men (ALL sef) love very, very, fair women. They paved the path for marrying white women in our country. A numbers of Igbos are suspiciously mixed in my opinion. I was taken aback when I noted smokey grey (yelz o), green, hazel, light brown eyes with hair colour ranging from jet black to honey blonde (natural) at a conc Igbo party recently. Nobody agreed to having any oyimbo ancestors. Help me figure that one out…. Thank God that DNA tests were not common in those days because the divorce rates would be high. Those grandmothers were very busy. Leave it der…

Why do black people have issue with skin color?! In the end, we’re all black and African. Proud of our color.
