“Women Should Own their Sexuality”! Beyoncé covers OUT’s Power Issue

Beyonce OUT Magazine - April 2014 - BellaNaija

As expected Queen Bey’s first magazine cover for 2014 is a must see.

Beyoncé who just wrapped her Mrs Carter World Tour, channels Marilyn Monroe on the cover of OUT Magazine‘s Annual Power Issue for May 2014.

If you have seen, Jay Z‘ better half’s self titled visual album, you will know that she was all about appreciating the female form and sexuality.

She speaks to the magazine on sexuality;
“There is double standard when it comes to sexuality that still persists. Men are free, women are not. That is crazy.

You can be a business woman, a mother, an artist, a feminist – whatever you want to be – and still be a sexual being.

There is unbelievable power in ownership and women should own their sexuality” she says.

*You can be a business woman, a mother, an artist, a feminist – whatever you want to be – and still be a sexual being* who says those people stop being sexual beings or struggle to be sexual? don’t really get what she is saying….. does someone keep her sexuality in some bag and give it to her once a week or something? she is a wonderful entertainer but when it comes to ………..

ITA…the double standard is so annoying!!! Us ladies learn to be comfortable with our bodies, figure 8 or no figure 8

I completely concur with the assertion that you can be a business woman, a mother, an artist, a feminist – whatever you want to be – and still be a sexual being and in bracket, (fit/toned). Not trying to bring my sisters on the big side down ….IT IS YOUR BODY, WE MUST HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT. However, in my opinion, and with due respect, it doesn’t exude sexuality for me. When you are SMART, have a hot and fit body, You become free. Even fellow ladies marvel at your transformation, sexuality and freedom …..
For me, it’s not really much about the sexuality that she exudes, but because she’s more than just a hot body. It shows she works hard, no money can buy it. It shows dedication, discipline, self-respect, dignity, patience, work-ethics and passion. This is really why it is attractive to me. I know you should be proud of your body type, but it sure makes sense when you put it the extra time to really recreate your shape the way God and man would love to see you. Take control of your body and let it work for you.

My dear, i concur with all the wonderful things u ve said….. i believe u are also a big fun. but we must realize to all it is given differently. some will lose weight doing nothing, some have to change diet to achieve the figure, some both diet and hours of exercise to do it and others, stay the same no matter what they do. So u see, if you have to wake up at 3 go to the market and buy stuff and sell them till 6 or 5 so the children can eat and go to school, we appreciate u no matter what shape u are… and that is the reality of the majority, and until we all have millions of dollars in the bank and can afford to get specialists to plan our diets and spend three hours on the treadmill every day….

eeeeerrr please did u say “no money can buy it”? it is called dieticians, personal traniners, expensive creams and body make overs. it is all DOLLARSSSSSSSSSS

Errr??? You do know that there’s an entire section of the porn industry dedicated to big and when i say big, i mean massive women right?? well google BBW and you’ll be amazed at how many people are into these things. In as much as it is healthy to be fit and smart, we have allowed the media to completely force the idea that skinny is the only sexy down our throats.
You’d be surprised at the numbers of men who are into over-weight women. Personally i shed a ton of weight years ago to get the curvaceous body i have now even though hollywood or even you would still call me fat….I could have kept on losing weight but I’m at the weight I find sexy (both for myself and other women..#nohomo)…I look at myself nude in the mirror and go…dang!! yup!! i’m conceited like that!

Her message isn’t clear at all.. if it was all about sexuality, would she be as successful as she is? ..tell women to work hard and earn for themselves as much you do and not just sexuality this and that..

Who is feeding this girl all these things because clearly Bey is…er…well a bit simple so I know someone must be telling her what to say. As much as a HUGE Beyonce fan as I am, one thing I detest is that this women, more than any celebrity I know is a “bandwagon” type of gal. Whenever something is hot, Bey will be on it. Next year let there be a movement to start covering up and wearing burkas and Beyonce will be performing in full garb telling women to respect their bodies and save it for the Lord….

Confused. Women activists say women need to stop sexualizing their selves. Guys should stop parading them in music videos like all they have to offer is our body. Me I like Beyoncé die, but is she doesn’t really know what she is saying. You say oh men need to stop sexualizing women. But she is parading her self in music videos half naked for both MEN and women to watch! Jlo did a music video sexualizing men not women. They did the same thing the Nigerian girls do in music video. Beyoncé needs to do that to get their point across. That’s just my opinion

Who does this bey think she is deceiving? She is talking abt sexuality and being a feminist but my question is how does wearing those body revealing clothes define sexuality? We all knw sex sells and she is only using that to cover up her act. They just talk about things they know nothing about misleading young people. Note I am not talking about her talent here but having a good voice does not make her an authority in other areas.
