Absolutely! There was so much envy within the team cos dbanj has always been loved!
And to the dumb people saying he should go and beg donjazzy! Is don jazzy GOD? What nonsense?
This guy was hit by the split and obviously had to learn to operate on his own which is obviously new to him!!! Its a gradual process!!!. he sure will bounce back cos he is a people person and has a likeable personality!
And that sidney Esiri guy is EVIL!!! SO MUCH JEALOUSY IN HIS HEART!! Mr “why dont they know my name” if you were talented they will know your name!!!

I always thought dr sid and dbanj both couldnt sing. they both needed don jazzy and d banj could definitely entertain crazy so it was a great success. dr sid was just a waste to me and im sorry but then i heard he could write songs, y not just be a writer then? I love d song surulere but it definitely needed don jazzy, ever since the split, i havent heard anything great from dbanj like the days of suddenly. Dr Sid is reeked with jealousy. its so unfortunate. hes got don jazzy to concentrate on him now without dbanj around but is still a local champion. he should just pray, the tape gave him away! smh ……love the way he made the dr sids rubbish talk to a song. lmao

i never liked dbanj, dunno why but after this, i kinda respect the guy…there is no one who wont feel betrayed by family after what he just narrated and i guess he was sick of people assuming he bit the hand that fed him thats why he had to fess up. Dr Sid (Yimu Face), u sounded so pained and bitter in that recording. Even after you made sure dbanj was sidelined, ur light is still dim, u r still not a star, i may not have liked dbanj bt lawd did he shine bright…Dbanj my dear, move on forgive those who hurt you cos i can see you are still hurting, dont let unforgiveness hold you back. Goodluck babe. much love and respect.
ps i admire the way u still hold jazzy in high esteem. the fact that you still respect him its obvious. Ilike that. Shows loyalty no matter what.

I love this Interview. D’banj is a realist and businessman, he wanted to try something new, and did he try? of course sure he did. Mr. endowed remix opened the door for Nigerian artists collaborating with international acts. He appears to have gotten the short-end of the stick in the break up, he has done great for himself in the last 3 years, and I just think he needs to work with producers that understand his style and music, no hardworking man will stay down forever, even though he’s not down, but he sure as hell can be the best ever.

hmmm, don’t know about this personal beef Dr Sid had for him, but I have a personal account where Freeze the OAP was complaining then that Dbanj had gotten too big and was not paying attention to the people that helped make him famous, Dr Sid spoke up for Dbnaj, that he knew him from UK when Dbanj was a driver and that he had come a long way, but that Dbanj was not a proud person. Maybe something happened afterwards to cause the bad blood sha.

And what exactly has Don Baba done wrong, tell me? Have you heard his side of the story? Me, I don’t see what Don Baba has done. I really wanted to refrain from judgement until Sid and Jazzy came out but some comments are unfounded. First of all, Jazzy didn’t want Sid to be a part of Mohits, DBanj did. Jazzy and DBanj were brothers before Sid came into the picture: why would Don Jazzy suddenly ignore someone he’s been brothers with for years (DBanj) and choose someone he hadn’t been friends with for that long (Dr Sid)? Wouldn’t that mean that his “brother” DBanj did or said something that made him (Don Jazzy) think “hmm, maybe Sid is right, maybe this Dbanj doesn’t have my interests at heart after all”? I mean, I don’t want to conclude but everything DBanj said in the interview was “They said this” and “They did that”. Not once did he take responsibility for anything. Do you think Don Jazzy just woke up one morning and said “if I hear DBanj’s music on radio, I’ll change the dial?” Isn’t that madness? What did DBanj do for to him for him to say that? Why didn’t Dbanj explain that one? Eh? Tell me now! I really hope Don Jazzy will come out and clear his name but I won’t be surprised if he doesn’t because empty barrels make the most noise. And as for Sid, IDK.

People may not like you because you dream big and small thinkers can’t handle you but just keep doing your thing and focus on the prize. I know that this is a really low point for you financially but hold your head up high and don’t let anyone make you feel inferior. Dr Sid was the first to confirm the split on Twitter when he started claiming Don Jazzy doesn’t get enough recognition for his work… All these D’banj remained silent. Even Don Jazzy confirmed he was the one who wanted out!

Calm ur ass down with the insults…u are not in primary school, and its not that serious.

Secondly, Don Jazzy has NEVER said anything regarding this issue. Not one interview. Dbanj was the only one running his big ass mouth right after the break up bragging about kanye, listing all the cars he bought for the artists on mo-hits and all the things he did for jazzy etc. In fact, that is the reason many people started disliking him…because he was talking way too much and condescendingly at that. Do some of y’all have amnesia or something? Dbanj has overtalked this issue…granted plenty interview and wont let this matter rest for nothing. Atleast these days he is more sober about the matter unlike before when he was arrogant about it.

    • Janglova

      January 26, 2015 at 6:29 pm

You are clearly delusional. After the breakup, it was mainly dbanj that was talking nonstop about the breakup, sotey people started telling him to shutup already. Dbanj has given more interviews about this saga than he has done interviews for his post-mo-hit projects.what are you talking about.

    • concerned

      January 26, 2015 at 8:05 pm

You have selective memory. Dbanj was all over giving interviews left and right and Don Jazzy has only spoken twice. The difference between class and ego.

    • Olori Tari

      January 27, 2015 at 7:51 am

You are right and I commend you for not lying. There are many things God doesn’t like… Among is people lying. Leave these people claiming otherwise. Dbanj was everywhere? The same Dbanj that was in America and people till today would still say ‘the mistake he made was that he went away from Nigeria, he could have stayed around – it would have helped his career’? Dbanj was the one that announced it on Twitter too? He was the one that started sharing credit on Twitter too? He was the one that sat back and played victim by being ‘silent’ at first when everyone said Dbanj was the one who caused it? He broke up with them bla bla bla. What shall it take them to put it straight?

Yes, they have played victim for so long and the media has helped with that. I don’t even blame them for that one because people like these ones commenting have created an image of Dbanj being the arrogant one in their head and no matter how much truth unfolds…. He would still be the one that was bragging. So why won’t they play along with that notion?

Don jazzy has NEVER granted interview on this?… I suggest before we make claims we should do a Google search if unsure oo. The one he did with Toolz nko? Of course he didn’t say anything. He didn’t even mention Dbanj and Mohits once now. How can a whole Don mention such? Smh! That interview with Toolz actually gave me a clear picture. 1) he told Dbanj to go as confirmed by him. 2) he did him dirty which is why he struggled with words and started using tree as analogy. You know when you know you’ve done something not too good and people keep asking you about it? You either brush it off, stay silent or when forced to talk… Start to ramble. On the other hand, when you are at the receiving end of a person’s bad behaviour and you know you are saying the TRUTH… To talk go dey itch you and that is why he talking now. When it happened… He said they told him not to talk sef, so where are these claims from? I’m sure if that audio did not leak…People would say he made the whole thing up! How many interview did Dbanj even grant during that saga if we are being honest? Or had even done now? – thou shall not make up random figures if answering.

Meanwhile commenter 1: Oh shut up.
Commenter 2 replies: you don’t need to throw insults you are not in primary school (paraphrasing here). BUT goes ahead to insult Dbanj (big ass mouth) and goes ahead to say do we have amnesia or something? Lol I don’t know who is worse. So we in primary school or nah?

Do y’all know why Dr Sid said what he said. Mind you, it was meant to be a private convo and somebody leaked it. Can everybody here say truthfully they have not said something bad about somebody behind their back before.
Donjazzy believed in D’Banj and came back to Naija with him, so for him to have broken up with him, something must have happened.

I have a feeling D’Banj isnt saying the whole truth.

Its like that situation where a dwoman in piningis desperate to get her man back and he’s moved. From what I understood D’Banj and Don Jazzy wanted to expand their brand with the help of Kanye but since the whole process entailed a lot financially Don Jazzy wanted out.( I think one of the problems here was finance because the contract was in a way that they’ll still be able to operate overseas and in Nigeria so technically they had nothing to lose in Nigeria. If it doesn’t work abroad good you have something to fall back on). So now there was kinda a conflict in opinions, Dban’j wanted to pursue that deal and Don Jazzy didn’t want. D’Banj even asked for extra 6 months to be able to convince Don Jazzy but it didn’t work so D’Banj had to chase his dream on his own.
Whoever released that did well. If it wasn’t released Dbanj would still have been branded the traitor while Dr Sid walks around freely. Dbanj was left to pay for his(Dr Sid) sins.
Yep we say things hateful things behind people’s back but we say that which are truthful.
I don’t know the rationale behind Sid’s speech but the sky is wide enough for all stars to shine bright.
But I sha like Sid’s Surulere ooh abeg you people should talk true. Dr Sid is doing well as well.

The arrogance and “swole-headedness” displayed by dbanj after kanye signed him and the group disbanded….now all of a sudden he is forming saint that everyone just woke up and started hating for no reason. Back to the matter at hand
    1. Until Dr Sid comes out to give his version of the story, I will wait with my coca cola in one hand and my popcorn in the other before I judge.
    2. If Dr Sid really did this, then I will be very disappointed because I always thought he was a really good guy. If he’s guilty, then he’s very childish. In this world, we won’t all be good at everything. Instead of being jealous, we should focus on what we do best and do it well.
    3. I really hope that if or when Dr Sid comes out with his story, y’all don’t turn around and say “I knew it! DBanj is an arrogant fool”

Interesting interview. Dbanj can’t even front like he wasnt being obnoxiously arrogant right after the break up news broke. I think many people started disliking him right after the break up when he wont stop yapping about Kanye like he was his small god and talking about how he made people on mo’hit. He felt untouchable because kanye signed him. Funny how people forget. There are 3 sides to this story; dbanj’s, don jazzy’s and the raw truth. Unfortunately i dont see jazzy still beating this dead horse, and we may never really know the whole truth and why his people turned on him suddenly. For everyone in the group to give him a cold shoulder (including his own brother (at that time)), perhaps he was getting excessively arrogant and condescending. That whole kanye signing got to his head thats for sure! He’s obv not owning up to his own fault, but just looking to place blame on others. I wish him the best sha.

This is why i dont take y’all comments serious! Dbanj now suddenly has fans. The same guys that was being bashed for overtalking about this issue and suddenly being arrogant towards naija music industry after kanye signed him. Una don suddenly forget? I noww believe when celebs say that the public have very fleeting memory because this is unbelievable. Did y’all really expect dbanj to own up to his own faults and say how he contributed to the breakup when he’s obviously trying so hard to gain back the people’s affection? Even besides dr sid, how can everyone else on the label turn against him suddenly for no reason even his brother was on mo’hits side at the beginning….yet he fronts like he did nothing wrong? Chai, u people are hella gullible sha. Even jazzy that left the partnership, why? He wasnt an artist so he wasnt competing with dbanj….in fact d’banj’s success was also his success so why would he give all that up?? Think people think! When sid comes now and talk his own the same people will re-bash dbanj again. Same thing y’all did with Toke. Very unserious lots. Where ever the breeze blows. Mcheeew!

.. You missed the part where he owned up to his own mistake by not being sensitive and not realising somethings because of his ‘no time’ attitude. (paraphrasing here). Yes that cost him a lot and I’m sure he has learnt from that too. I can also learn a thing or two from that because I am like that. I don’t notice these things people notice, I am not sensitive and just like his words I am the first person to say ‘no time’ and I go my own solo way. I know how that works out sometimes (not necessarily good)

‘Even besides dr sid, how can everyone else on the label turn against him suddenly for no reason even his brother’. Now I am replying because of your statement I quoted above. It is VERY possible – look, do not underestimate the power of manipulation. From his narration, you can tell there was a clique in his absence. A lot of discussions must have gone down behind him, a lot of convincing must have taken place. Some of them might have even disagreed at first to leave him but changed their mind after talk talk. How can they just have a meeting and Jazzy starts to say they have all agreed to leave him – yes I will say it again, they did him DIRTY, they robbed him. I’m sure if there was no prior discussion between the other guys and they had to choose there and there – I am not sure they will ALL go against him. Also, I can see why they will follow Jazzy – he is the producer. You know how important producers are especially in Nigeria. I am curious as to what Wande Coal has to say about following Don Jazzy instead. I am very curious. I would have also been curious on D prince’s opinion if he was not Don Jazzy’s brother or cousin? (Fomilic sha)

I am not the one to talk based on a one sided story but you see the recorded audio of Dr Sid is convincing enough. The way he went on Twitter and said they don’t give Jazzy enough credit for what he does. He doesn’t miss Dbanj (only him in mohits said such). In fact, A LOT more. Surulere song is one hell of a sub – yet almost everyone misses the sub.

That being said, I enjoyed this video. You have to love D’banj’s confidence all day everyday. Learnt a lot too.

I always knew Surulere was a sub. The Yoruba insults/proverbs were too much for the song not to be a sub. I just didn’t know who it was directed at… it makes sense now.

I don’t even know what to say now but I want to know how this ends up jare! *Grabs Popcorn* Let Don Jazzy and Dr. Sid come and tell His own side of the story. Plus what’s wrong with the Interviewer? He’s Horrible! The Hype @ the beginning of the interview was just over dramatic and fake! And He kept on interrupting omolomo D’banj. Very Silly something like that….

I can still remember the interviews this guy granted on this issue since it happened and he clearly stated the breakup was because of conflict in interest. He was set on conquering the world and his partner was okay making it on the local turf. How he started Mohits (dts wt he said),bought cars for some of them and all but they all were unappreciative. Listening to him say Dr Sid and playing a tape now makes me wonder,av you been lying all this while? We don’t know what started the convo on this tape and what was said after so I can’t bash Dr Sid straight out. Before this split, there ad always been news about the label having issues.People forget things easily when sentiments are involved.Dbanj has 3 or 4 albums under Mohits imprint, every one else had just one and his own brother Kswitch never released one.He had loads of singles under his belt,u can count that of the others. It was general knowledge back then that dbanj was using his position as record exec to bully the others. I dunno y everyone is acting shocked now.
Let’s accept Dr Sid instigated to boot him out,is he also responsible for the lack lustre songs he has been releasing in the past few years? Is he also responsible for his multimillion naira debt issue? If things had gone like he planned, will he be telling this story now? Everyone on that label has moved on,I know it might hurt that nobody is acting like they miss him,he should deal with it.I feel he needs to reflect on his mistakes, take responsibility and get better where he falls short. We all make mistakes.pointing fingers, playing victim and blaming people only slows down recovery. Take it easy on the make believe, bragging and discover ur own self not wt people say or who you think you are. With this interview, am sure he got the pity effect he wanted and quite a number of people who intended skipping his concert will be having second thoughts now.He should consider dusting his mouth organ and giving it a shot again instead of jumping on remixes of hit tracks. We all loved it and it might go a long way on his next record.

this makes me really dislike D’banj… he is obviously very proud from this video…. there’s a difference between confidence and pride. There’s no way everyone could have just disliked him if nothing was wrong with his character… i mean i know JEALOUS PEOPLE exist…we have all been jealous at certain points in our lives but some people’s characters are just not it…
Kudos to Olisa (big bear) for “The Truth” really really cool and timely in our burgeoning industry.

This is campaign after election. If only he had listened to his friend, biz partner, producer, label boss and perhaps superior advice to be careful of his over ambitious chase of the Kanye West and American dream illusion which he had been told was eating deep into the finances of the company and threatening the career of the other artists who were signed on to the label. Dr. Sid cried out cos if the company abandoned them just like that to go after American dreams that was uncertain, how would it have been? D’banj did not accept and possibly wished to be the only cock that will crow and like a stubborn fly without legal adviser followed the corpse into the grave or rather ended as the xmas chicken. He should stop blaming anyone cos he is the architect of his woes. It was good that they are not bitter enemies as he and his one time biz partners are still friends and may still do biz someday. I wish them all the best.

Well, D’banj was probably very blind to issues in Mo’hits as at that time. He has a vision and a dream of being an international artiste, but I guess his label mates(Mohits squad) have limited dreams, they’d rather be ‘dorobig’ in Naija, than ‘doroglobal”. Island Def Jam (IDJMG) as it was known before April 2014 is a major label (there are only 3 major labels in the world) and it controls about 18% of global music recordings. Kanye West is on IDJMG as an artist and owns G.O.O.D Music (Indie label). If Dbanj’s deal was with GOOD Music, it may not have been a fantastic deal! He probably wanted a ‘leg in the door’. There are several deals they could have done with IDJMG/GOOD Music, but I guess Don Jazzy was myopic to it all. They are probably good at music production etc, but Music Business/Management acumen is ‘ZERO’! Dbanj should look for another producer jooor. Mohits to IDJMG is akin to an earthworm to an armoured tank. On a final note – Artists/Producers/Singers etc, your reign is not forever, maximise your earning potentials when you are the ‘rave of the moment’, its worse here in Nigeria as we have no structure in our entertainment industry. You will come and GO.
