fayoseagainEkiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, got people talking on Monday with a front page ad attacking APC’s Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (click here if you missed it) and on the inside pages of Punch Newspaper’s Wednesday edition he has placed another ad.

In this one he explains why Gen. Buhari is too old to run Nigeria and he quotes Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, saying that running a state/country is a tough job that needs youthfulness.

What are your thoughts?

Although it might be ideal to have a younger president. I do not think that age is an important factor for debate as per who gets to rule Nigeria. What we need is a better Nigeria and whoever is ready to get us there should be of greater concern. Age is not doing is for me, they need a better argument for credibility.

I agree with you. all this are gimmicks from the party but believe me. they have failed woefully. people now have reasons to even vote for BUHARI more than before. this is just a clear indication that the PDP is scare to shit and the president is also afraid. they should leave us with the age. we are ok with it. GEJ should pack his loads back to otuoke. #enoughisenough

one would think that after that disrespectful ad the other day, fayose will shut up, lay low and let that die…no he surfaces again… ..but to think that all these ages are football age haha what is Buhari’s real age then if his football age is 72 Woohoo! we are doomed in Niaja, God forbid, GEJ till 2019!!!

Fayose is so obvious is seeking attention. We dont care how old he is what matters is what he can do for Nigeria. Fayose is just a useless man. He better be looking for a place to go on exile after Feb 14.

Whether old or young, all we need is CHANGE! governor please you can’t decide for us. Leave Nigerians to their opinion and who they want,we are all well informed of what is happening in the country. My only fear is if someone like you sir in the future comes out as presidential candidate, one can only imagine the pedigree of what our president and the politician we have in this country.
Thank you very much for your campaign.

which rightful thinking person would come out and put such advertorial on the pages of Nigerian dailies not to talk of a serving governor. PDP is full of clueless people, is this what their own democracy and politics is all about. FAILURE is their party slogan. senseless idiots

      January 21, 2015 at 5:31 pm

Could you just address the issue he raised without calling him an idiot? You just called everybody in PDP a senseless idiot. I believe Nigeria will be a lot better if you change the way you talk or, better stil, if you stop posting comments on BN..

Prince, you guys like to “stick” to the issues, pls let’s stick to the issues. If you regard Raji Fashola as a SANE man, then you’d see that Fayose is SANE as well because he simply REPEATED the words of the SANE Raji Fashola. DEAL WITH IT!

We can all agree his last ad was distasteful but let us be honest he is saying nothing but the whole truth , this is a tasteful way of putting it, you can’t hide it;, Meanwhile Buhari all of a sudden remembers his school name and passing out year and waec no, why did he not save himself and the whole country the trouble? I have wondered why he didn’t just go to the school. I don’t hv mine either, bcos it got lost , but if in the event I do I i’ll go straight to my sec school and get it or get them to write an attestation.
The constitution doesn’t even require you pass the exams but you must have sat and written it and have a certificate to show for it. It is even so lenient and if he can not prove this he is not fit to be the president I don’t care whether he is a general and commandant of the entire British empire. Let us start obeying the laws we make.

Oga BUHARI you can’t fool us, you did not finish secondary school, it is the same favouritsm and rot in the civil service controlled mainly by the northern region that allowed a lot of you from the north qualified or not, get through. Face the music, you did not finish secondary school, neither did you write any exam. BIG LIES.

Because he is a busy person. Let’s just use a bit of logic here. I am running for president, collecting data and information on all facets of the nation and how to improve it, doing research and whatnot. Then a report comes out about my records and of course I shrug if off because the military that I joined must have it. If not them, then the higher education must sha have it so it is a no starter. I’m just saying…it is not shocking that he did not respond to it. It’s akin to the Republicans asking for Obama’s birth certificate. INEC and the party allowed it to get this far…so it is just a distraction

I have always said Nigerians in general are very ageist. Only in Nigeria have I seen job vacancies advertised stating the maximum applicant age! In Nigeria, people forgo potential loving, stable relationships because “he is younger than me” or “she is older than me”. In Nigeria, a young, unmarried man is not taken seriously as an entrepreneur/employee/political aspirant because he doesnt have a wife (to cheat on!) and children to pay school fees for.
When I left Nigeria as a child and saw “old” people driving themselves, shopping, getting out and about in England, I was shocked!
If a person is in good health; physically and mentally…then what does his/her age have to do with anything?
All of you saying Fayose has spoken the truth….do you wish to be labelled as “past it” when you are 72?? I see women and men here in their 80s and 90s LIVING their lives…It is only in a country where the life expectancy is in its 50s that a 72 year old is considered “walking dead.”

This is not written in support of Buhari specifically, but out of disgust for the blatant ignorance that exists amongst several Nigerians particularly when it comes to age. I pray to be of sound mind and body well into my 70s, 80, and 90s and if I can, it would be an honour to serve my country at whatever age the opportunity comes.

Please, WAKE UP NIGERIA! Narrowness of mind truly is a debilitating condition.

I love Nigerians especially you young people. You have been sold lies, taught to turn on yourselves and always accept the minimum. Please GEJ/PDP all the way. They gave us “telecomms” and “trains”. Maybe in another 16 years we will get electricity, then in another 16 years, security. When Nigerians are ready for better, no one will tell you people. I would hate for someone with a vision to come and waste their time.

    January 22, 2015 at 2:46 am

for people expressing that they are voting for Buhari because he is the only option.
there are actually over 10 presidential aspirants
    #be informed

for me it is an example of how majority rules” in Naija. it is not that the other candidates don’t exist… but the media seems to be sponsored by the same wolf mafia like people. money talks.
They shove in our faces what they want us to see.
I am surprised people still think there are only two aspirants

the tacky APC versus PDP vice versa tussle,
a copy cat of republic versus conservative
whereas Obama and Mcain didn’t share fried chicken or other loved food. no sentiments attached.
they got their votes how: people knew what they stood for.. talk the talk, walk the walk.

pls call GEJ or Buhari and other aspirants to presidential debate. If they show up….
let us judge from intelligent dialogue. grill them. perhaps Buhari will prove that at 70+ he is you still sound, and GEJ show that his glorious youthfulness is an advantage?
and the other aspirants: proof that they exist aside on paper?
Nigerian politicians have it too easy!

but I still ask myself if there is any real difference between the two parties except simplistically that they are two different people? what is APC, what is PDP. can you tell what they stand for distinctly?, their values?

otherwise why was it so easy for people to decamp?
could it be same hooligans, different platform?

    im not convinced yet
in fact our house Naija is on fire.. people are dying, somebody is campaigning? do you have to wait to be elected to make change? were you sleeping since.

few of the many questions I’m asking myself

    This should Fayose next advertorial:-

i think fayose should not be blame he his protecting his job,his fear is if buhari win the election come february fayose will not have it easy with the law makers in his state and the police and the military that assisted and rig election for him will not be there for him and that is why he is advocating the use of police and soldiers during election. But again i think the governor need psychiatric evaluation forhim to govern his state well.

Well, it is very easy to put Fayose’s antics on attention seeking but I see it as part of the present Govt’s strategy to distract attention from the ineptitude that has characterized the GEJ tenure. Sit with any of the president’s supporters and they cant clearly articulate achievements that are not laughable, given the fact that Nigeria has earned the most in the last six years than any other time in her history.
The strategy is to focus on personal reasons why Buhari should not be voted for, when the easier path would have been to show from the past six years evidence that the next four years will be great. That is what the antics of Fani kayode and Fayose are all about- create a distraction that may lead to crises and perhaps save their principal from an iminent defeat. Who would look at the mammoth crowd turning up for Buhari and not be worried?
Thankfully, the NSA has made their desires known. I wasnever a buharifan and i am practical enough to know that he is not the messiah. In fact, no one is but we need to get this current band of incompetent people out to stop this downward spiral. That is what the Buhari support boils down to for most of my friends too. In the coming days, worst antics will be unveiled as the desperation heats up by the PDP. The party is staring at defeat at the polls and they want to take this nation down with them, if necessary.
    Time up, GEJ!

Age is not material. We need a disciplined and firm somebody at the helms of affairs.
The incumbent is not as old as GMB but he has performed below expectation of many Nigerians; hence the clamoring for change. Such advert from Fayose is character assasination. PDP should based their campaign on issue to convince Nigerians afterall PDP has been ruling for the past 16 years. The more they continue the type of attacking advert the more people will be having sympathy for the person being attacked; hence such advert will bring negative result. Instead of helping PDP, the advert. is doing them more harm than good. What Nigerians are interested in is what your political party has done and what he is still capable of doing.

Majority Nigerian are not members of any political parties but electorate. I voted for PDP in the last election but this time around, no jupiter can convince me to vote for the PDP again (no amount of advertisement from Fayose) because their Presidential candidate (Jonathan) is the weakest head of state Nigeria ever has. In the area of security – he scored ‘0%’ – anybody who pray to lose his or her child to terrorist group will disagree with me. In the area of employment creating – he scored 0% and in the are of taming corruption – he scored ‘0%’ even the second name of Mr. President is “CORRUPTION”.

From the above, come February 14, 2015 Nigeria will decide whether to vote for Buhari at 72 or vote for young inactive Jonathan; hence the advertisement of Fayose is immaterial.
